UK vending machines that sell PS3 games revealed

Stuff is reporting that Sony and Universal have teamed up to create PoP "entertainment vending machines" to be distributed across the UK "in cinemas, gyms, universities and travel stations" this holiday season. In addition to selling PS3 titles, these babies will sell DVDs, Blu-ray movies, and direct music/movie downloads to your MP3, MP4 player, or an SD card. Check it out in action in a video here.

Similar machines have been spotted in the US for several years now, but they seem to have been limited to mostly airports. Do you think we'll ever see one of these vending machines in a local shopping center?

This won't and shouldn't catch on.

I don't understand who this would be marketed for. The only sales would be impulse buys outside a grocery store, and a bargaining tool to get your kids to behave in a grocery store.

Also this would be just be a bad idea, Politicians and news corespondents will liken them to cigarette machines. No control over sales of M rated games.

never once have I been at the gym or the movies and thought "Man i would love to buy a movie or a game right now".Airport maybe,but with their prices im sure a game would be 80 bucks

Yes! This is almost as good as that vending machine that made me a toasted cheese and ham sandwich!!
Much better than the vending machine that gave me a dodgy umbrella that broke almost instantly...

same here, theres been one at my local cinema selling DVDs for a good 6 months now, maybe longer. Cant imagine why anyone would use it though, not when theres a 4 other shops under the same roof selling DVDs
