'Currently no plans' for LittleBigPlanet image importing

"Announcements of future content releases, whether free, paid for, feature update, costume, sticker or whatever will always come through the official websites for LittleBigPlanet and Media Molecule, if you hear of updates through any other source please take it with a pinch of salt until it has been confirmed or denied." So while it's not ruled out for good, don't expect to see it coming any time soon. Better plug that PlayStation Eye back in -- it's your only method of custom image importing for the foreseeable future.

That's ok. Game is still good without that feature.
343 Guilty Fart @ Nov 4th 2008 1:23PM
Are the servers down for anyone else?

"PlayStation forums to say that while 'image importing is very much technically viable ... there are currently no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons.'"
The primary of which is to sell more Playstation Eye cameras.
Archon @ Nov 4th 2008 1:26PM
No. To get less high quality dongs. Also, The Eye's quite a good piece of equipment.
aots16 @ Nov 4th 2008 2:20PM
i dont think its that. theyve said that the pseye pics are the biggest contributor to long level loads think what itd be for a bunch of hi res images in a level it would take EVEN longer to load
Imran @ Nov 5th 2008 2:35PM
Actually, its to keep all the pervs from importing pics that would be completley objectionable to others. You know this would definitely happen. And this is supposed to be for everyone not just adults. Also, the Eye is a damn good piece of equipment.
SparkyJ23 @ Nov 4th 2008 1:40PM
Exactly - There can be no other reason at all

I don't think that's a valid reason for not allowing images. For one, if the image uploader could easily be designed to only allow images of a certain filesize and/or pixel size to be used.

anyone know 1st day or 1st week sales of this game?
Vincent @ Nov 4th 2008 1:39PM
Where's my Week One T-Shirt?
Lars @ Nov 4th 2008 2:34PM
This is the week it comes out in the UK, and since it's a UK made game, I'm thinking they consider this week "week one". So, look for it Thursday in the store update.

Was the first article about this completely false? Because it attributed the information to Alex Evans, who is, y'know, CO-FOUNDER of Media Molecule. That's what's frustrating me. This info wasn't linked to some yahoo on a blog, it was one of the company's founders. What the hell is going on at Mm?
Tom @ Nov 4th 2008 1:58PM
Yes, it was a complete fabrication.
Brodie-san @ Nov 4th 2008 3:11PM
It wasn't a complete fabrication. Alex Evans said it to a room of 400 journalists in Nottingham.
wuddel @ Nov 4th 2008 1:54PM
They propably first need to implement a porn filter / report mechanism or something.
Haohmaru @ Nov 4th 2008 2:03PM
The report function is already there.. "Good grief," as it's called.
wuddel @ Nov 4th 2008 2:20PM
nevermind then ... still waiting for it over here in Europe
cLanKin89 @ Nov 4th 2008 5:25PM
this feature would make a HUGE difference to the quality of the levels. imagine making a pattern in photoshop and pasting it in your level to give it a distinctive feel.
Plus i want to put some high quality pics of sarah palin in my 'Nailin Little Big Palin' level :)
BlingOnMyWrist @ Nov 4th 2008 7:23PM
Dammit... Too bad the game couldn't possibly figure a way to make the pictures smaller to decrease load times.
I was looking forward to this.
obtusegoose @ Nov 4th 2008 6:49PM
Since there already is a limit on how much you can add to a level (the thermometer), the only reason to not add image importing is to sell more Eye cameras. It's pretty disappointing that Sony would do that. I forked out my 60 bucks. Let me import some images if I want to.
mercurywa @ Nov 4th 2008 8:36PM
Ignorance truly is bliss... or at least way less frustrating.
