DJ Max catches fever, gets delayed
According to IGN, the K-Pop rhythm game that was supposed to come out this November will be delayed. DJ Max Fever is now slated for first quarter 2009. It's not an entire lost, however. The extra months, says PM Studios, will give developers time to add in new gear, upgrade items, and hidden content.
They're also working on making the title "fully compatible with the PSP-3000" and "perfecting a brand new game engine that is tentatively titled 'BS'." With all "BS" jokes about the delay aside, we're interested in finding out exactly what this change is all about and see if it was worth the extra wait. After all, the wait for a DJ Max game in North America has been long enough.

I would guess altering some things to deal with the changing of order of the subpixels. a lot of anti-aliasing methods rely on knowledge of a certain order of the 3 colors of an LCD pixel. the "scanline" issue is mainly a result of that, the changing of the subpixel direction screwing up all the antialiasing. ultimately, what that unfortunately leads to is needing to have two separate sets of graphics, one optimized for left-right RGB, and one optimized for top-bottom RGB

I actually wonder if it's not piracy related. The most recent Korean release of the game apparently had a bunch of anti-piracy stuff in it, but still got pirated almost immediately much to the dismay of the developers.
More likely though, they simply couldn't get it into retail. That's hard to do for a small publisher, and this time of year there is a ton of competition (well, not on the PSP, but videogames in general)

That is a good point. Well, that's one less thing I will be getting for my B-day. Or I could import DJ Max 2. I don't know.

Let them take their time. I'd rather have a polished product later, than a rushed product now.
(Pleez make it easier, for the average player)

I can tell you right now that their new game is called black square, It is a different version of their most recent game "Clazziquai Edition" except while CE is aimed towards casual, Black Square is aimed for a more hardcore crowd. I hope they add downloadable content, and have an option to keep Korean difficulty.
Blac square has a gamefaqs page.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the LCD of the PSP 3000, but probably more to do with the inbuilt microphone
djratchet @ Nov 5th 2008 6:48PM
but how would DJ Max be using the mic
Thassodar @ Nov 6th 2008 1:58AM
