Valkyria Chronicles DLC heading west in 2009
Valkyria Chronicles is out today! You should really go buy it if you're a fan of strategy RPGs and/or excellent stories. Need another reason? A new post on the PlayStation Blog has confirmed that the downloadable content that was made available in Japan will be translated for western audiences. Both add-on packs will be made available in America and Europe in "early 2009."
The DLC involves a new mission and an extra hard skirmish mode. One of these allows you to play as the evil Imperial army invading Gallia and includes new vocals and and new sets of battles. These packs were paid content in Japan so no doubt they'll be the same over here. So even as you play through the lengthy main mission you'll have some new stuff to look forward to early next year. Hopefully Sega will also add trophies at some point too.

i will be getting it in a bit... the demo skirmish was OK. One thing i noticed is how fast you can die in this game... This game will also be fighting time against Resistance 2 and gf.

Great , can't afford it now , just bought FIFA for 19.99 of PLAY and see this is on Asda for 29.99 but i will definitely pick it up in the soon as I need something ... well a little different to get my teeth into , sadly I just don't like LBP and from the positive reviews from both website and now customer reviews I think my priority is this and Fallout 3 .
DLC is always welcome in my book I do tend to buy it for most of my games .

I have Valkyria and it's without a doubt one of the best PS3 games on the market ^^The DLC sounds cool, playing the invader instead of the defender is a good idea ^^Btw is there going to be a Valkyria Chronicles review on PS3Fanboy? Because everyone should know how great this game is ^^

Arg! Do want, loved the demo but I'm a poor student who can only afford LBP!

I hope they add trophies sooner rather than later.

NO! NO TROPHIES! They do nothing to for this game! Replay value is achieved thru leveling and gaining A ranks in the missions. I don't need to brag about it. stop mentioning them!

i have to agree this game does not work with trophies, simply the atmosphere of it would clash with the atmosphere of trophies, in a loose sense it would be like final fantasy having trophies, its not what the game is about its about an epic story and game play, there is nothing to show off, only the game showing off itself to the person experiencing it.

I was thinking about getting this game...When I played the demo I was able to get both girls side by side and see up their skirts.

You win the internets.

Why would you tell people that, man?

It's a good game no doubt about it, excessive cut-scenes aside, but how is it a RPG? Is it because the non-customizable characters in the linear story has names?
Taco @ Nov 5th 2008 3:29AM
Could be the equipment system, the experience system, the leveling system, among other things commonly found in RPGs.
It's not a straight-up RPG for sure, but the elements are still there.

I expected great things from this game, but when I tried the demo I felt totally disappointed with it...

why are people against trophies saying it doesnt add replay value. its an added nicety thats all, i dont buy games for trophies but its nice having them. bar maybe a few games where the trophies are more like work than fun, so would u guys just chill out and enjoy extras rather than bitching about them. i know that if i poured my heart into making a game i would want to give incentive towards the player seeing the game to its truest end rather than just completing it (in its most basic sense) and moving on.
good one to sega this is an awesome game im looking forward to my 2nd playthrough. anything extra is much apreciated

I've got the game but I can't force myself to play it knowing that some DLC in the future might add trophy support.
I'm just a freakin trophy whore... lol
