Rockstar's
Grand Theft Auto IV is making a big splash over in Japan, according to the weekly software ranking published by Famitsu. The big budget sandbox title is debuted at the top of the charts, while
LittleBigPlanet and
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: Spec III took third and seventh place, respectively. The exact numbers should be released tomorrow, along with hardware sales (unconfirmed word on the street is the PS3 is number 1). It's really refreshing to see games on the PS3 do so well -- we'll keep you updated when the exact numbers are published!

Haha yeah right, they had 1-2 weeks when they sold better than the PS3 in Japan, but taking over? Naah that's just stupid xbot-talk.

I actually read an article recently saying that PS3 versions of games are consistently outselling their 360 counterparts. I took it with a pinch of salt, but it was interesting (sorry, can't remember where it was).

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that GTA IV for the 360 did as well as it did in Japan, given their overall weak sales for the console there.

no, FFXIII IS ps3 exclusive in japan. It's being released on the 360 in north america and europe, but it won't be released on the 360 in japan

Has anyone seen the PS3 "Have you made your wishlist?" commercial. It's short, but kinda makes an impact. Good to see they are already getting some marketing out there for Christmas.
