Love White Knight Chronicles? Here's 14 minutes of it
White Knight Chronicles fans (especially the ones who can understand Japanese) will surely be interested in seeing this 14-minute long look into the making of the game. The first five minutes takes us on a guided tour through Level-5's posh Fukuoka studio. CEO and president of Level-5, Akihiro Hino, then takes us through eight minutes of the battle system, fending off overgrown monsters and transforming into the White Knight himself. The last minute includes some footage seen from the TGS trailer. So watch it right now! WNC is out in Japan on Christmas Day, December 25.

Anything about a US release date yet?
kabapu @ Nov 5th 2008 12:20PM
Is it just me, or has footage of the combat system for this game never looked as good as it did in the original trailer?
Emophia @ Nov 5th 2008 12:18PM
Looks iffy...
Yema Latify @ Nov 5th 2008 12:34PM
I'm sold. That looks awesome.
j.howlett @ Nov 5th 2008 12:46PM
looks fun to me. i'd like to know when i can play it in english
SaMav @ Nov 5th 2008 12:50PM
Now only if i could comprehend the Japanese language...
Hotrod @ Nov 5th 2008 12:48PM
I hope they optimize the code a bit, looked sweet but choppy.
kamiboy @ Nov 5th 2008 12:55PM
Bloody hell! This game looked so amazing in the TSG 2007 trailer, why does it look so damn plain now?
Bollocks!
kabapu @ Nov 5th 2008 1:33PM

TGS '06 actually.
This is the trailer I mentioned in my previous post. What happened to *this* game? Everything I've seen since then feels extremely toned down.
SuperGayParade @ Nov 5th 2008 3:39PM
I agree. I hope it's better than it looks.
kamiboy @ Nov 5th 2008 4:37PM
I think I know what is wrong, that TGS trailer looked too good to be true and it was. It must have been a pre-rendered concept trailer showing how they wanted the game to look and play. It seems they missed the mark by about a few million miles on that one.
This sucks, had high hopes for this game. I only enjoy Japanese games and there have been so few of them lately.
Deathalo @ Nov 6th 2008 2:51AM
Ok, before everyone starts making bs claims like "the original trailer was pre-rendered" (which it wasn't). You should know that in the above video they are highlighting the ONLINE portion of the game. Which of course will look nowhere near as good as the single player portion.
So don't lose your hopes, the game still looks amazing, just as it did from the beginning.

Arnon @ Nov 6th 2008 9:27AM
Shouldn't the online portion look just as good, if not better?
Deathalo @ Nov 6th 2008 11:47AM
*Read my reply on the next page.
Daniel @ Nov 5th 2008 2:10PM
The game looks good, but dammit, that office is amazing!
Forlourned @ Nov 5th 2008 2:14PM
Everybody notice the 3.6.0. in one of the rooms being blocked out? I'm betting now that this game will fit in a dual layer DVD now and it'll be released later in the coming year on multiple discs.
Liquid @ Nov 5th 2008 2:22PM
LEVEL 5 is a First Party of SONY and they have lots of Wii too look at the sensor bars...
kabapu @ Nov 5th 2008 2:23PM
Uh ... are you talking about the Buddah (correct me if I'm wrong) statue?
Whatever it was, it wasn't a 360.
DeforMAKulizer @ Nov 5th 2008 2:30PM
They are not first party, but have had awful history with M$ and most probably not develop a game for them...
Mr_Raccoon @ Nov 5th 2008 5:33PM
@Liquid
Level 5 is not a first party of Sony. They're working with SquareEnix on Dragon Quest IX for the DS and they are working on Ninokuni (featuring Studio Ghibli animated cutscenes) for the DS. They also made the Inazuma Eleven and Professor Layton games for the DS. Even Level 5 is even launching its own digital distribution service (sorta like Steam) in Japan pretty soon called ROID.
Laruku @ Nov 6th 2008 1:45AM
have u been living under the rock for all these years?!!!! this game is published by sony... please do more research before posting some flame bait junk on the internet... thank you...
spumco @ Nov 6th 2008 12:24AM
If you go to Amazon, they have a listing for the game but no release date. I would say that is something at least.
kabapu @ Nov 5th 2008 2:26PM
I see what you're talking about now ... next to the TV in the same room? They're probably blocking out the brand of TV.
Kattleox @ Nov 5th 2008 2:59PM
The thing in the chair looks like yoda, actually, and would make sense since the room looks like the jedi council and the japanese are big on Star Wars.
That thing you think is a 360 is probably a wii, since there is a sensor bar on top of the TV.
This game reminds me of Dark Cloud (original) mixed with FFXII. I will be buying it whenever it comes out.
deathxrebirth @ Nov 6th 2008 4:32AM
It *is* Yoda. They showed pics of the same office a few months ago without the blur.
Shin @ Nov 5th 2008 2:36PM
Just looked the 2006 video and then this one .. and I'm seriously pissed. :/
The game looks like a mediocre PS2 title right now, I mean...just *look* at the video posted on the comments, it's like they had detail level on Ultra High and now it's on Very Low or whatever.
I'll be buyng it anyways, but why couldn't...why wouldn't they make it like it appeared on 2006 video? :(
Bryden @ Nov 5th 2008 8:17PM
That's exactly what I thought when I saw this video. PS2 graphics. Well that and why the hell are you showing me your office for 3/4 of the video. Hopefully they spend a little less time on they're interior decorating and get some decent textures on the double.
saito ps3 @ Nov 5th 2008 3:11PM
you guys who were expecting the 2006 video come on, everybody knew it wasnt a real video, it was a target video, this game still has alot of time till release, so stop complaining, if you dont like it dont buy it
Xio @ Nov 5th 2008 3:38PM
U guys worry too much.... and get pissed too easily. Patience my friend, just wait until you play it lol.
matt @ Nov 5th 2008 4:08PM
Damn that framerate looked quite bad, i hope they fix that.
Zack @ Nov 5th 2008 4:35PM
About the video, I wouldn't worry about it. There's always a loss when it comes to compression, and you lose a bit of quality. Having it on a 32"+ size HDTV in full 1080p, I'm sure it will look a lot better. We're not seeing this on a big jumbotron like at TGS 06, but rather in a small box. Not to mention, this game is still almost 2 months away, and even longer if you consider its track to the United States. I'm sure once they release a demo, our worries will be put to rest.
Arnon @ Nov 6th 2008 9:27AM
Wrong.. There's virtually no difference with GOOD compression nowadays..
gillyy0 @ Nov 5th 2008 5:38PM
Still looks great. Looking so forward for this game to release in the US. Jrpg on PS3 = I'm sold ;]
Kristopher gonzalez @ Jul 27th 2009 6:10PM
That song is so good.
Btw i believe they where showing off the multiplayer aspect of the game.
ed @ Nov 5th 2008 7:00PM
this game looks pretty good but i think that the 2006 trailer was even better.regardless,i will definitely buy this game day one.btw, what an awesome place to work those guys have,it feels like a 5 star hotel than an office proper ...... love the gameplay & even the song is EPIC!
Woody @ Nov 5th 2008 7:47PM
Looks awesome!
SQUALLDO @ Nov 5th 2008 10:14PM
it looks like a wii game. What the hell went wrong with this games? even infinitive undiscovery looks better.
CJLopez @ Nov 6th 2008 2:39PM
second!!!
Deathalo @ Nov 6th 2008 2:53AM
Everyone please calm down and take time to notice something about the video. The reason it looks so much worse than the 2006 trailer? This footage is of the ONLINE portion of the game, which will undoubtedly look worse than the single player portion. The original trailer wasn't pre-rendered, and yes it still looks that good.
-DH
Arnon @ Nov 6th 2008 9:19AM
Again.. Shouldn't the online look better than the single player experience?
Deathalo @ Nov 6th 2008 11:45AM
No actually. Have you ever seen a multiplayer part of a game that looks better than the single player part? There is always some loss of quality in online so the game runs more smoothly. This is especially true with mmo's. Even CoD4 doesn't look as good online as it does off. Level 5 reduced the amazing graphics online so there will be minimal lag, a game breaker in rpgs. This was a smart move.
CJLopez @ Nov 6th 2008 2:42PM
'll unite with every one else
What the hell happened to this game!!!!
Even monster hunter 3 (tri) looks way better than this!!!!

Deathalo @ Nov 10th 2008 3:46AM
Please read my comment and you'll find out why.
CJLopez @ Nov 6th 2008 10:25PM
then again, look at the video i posted, is the online demostration of the game, and i don't see a loss of quality on it just cus its online. So, its no excuse, even less on PS3. Does Halo 3 or GoW 1 or 2 loss quality on online mode? Does CoD4 losses? NO!
Hence, this is no excuse, the game is going downfall from what we saw on 2006. Lets just hope this was a pretty early footage of the gameplay
