Media Molecule flickr shows in-game image importing

Who fancies a game of "will they, won't they?" After stating that image importing from your hard drive will be coming to LittleBigPlanet at Game City Media Molecule seemed to change tact and stated yesterday that there were "currently no plans" to implement such a feature. Normally that's where the issue would end, but some eagle eyed LBP fans have noticed something fishy on the Media Molecule flickr page.
The photo above (click it to see the full size version) is captioned "work in progress" and shows a new Popit menu tool. An "image import tool" which allows you to "import images from your PlayStation Hard Drive to use as stickers." The photo was uploaded yesterday, the same day Media Molecule denied having any plans for such a feature.
Sure, it could be a Media Molecule exclusive tool and not for external distribution, but then why post a photo of it when they know we're expecting the feature to be patched in? Only time will tell what exactly is going on. Until then, keep your PlayStation Eyes handy, just in case. Also, did you notice that Sackboy in the bottom right hand corner? So did we. We want it.

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that this is a sign of good things to come.

They probably have it, they just
1) want people to buy the PSEye
2)Are afraid of what porn stickers will be made
3)want to see if they can charge for it first
Vincent @ Nov 5th 2008 10:07AM
My thoughts exactly. Well, at least 1 and 2.

Regarding #2, if people want to risk having their PS3 bricked by Mm/Sony, they're going to have to think twice before sticking explicit pictures.
I know I have yet to see any phallic levels out there. Not that I was looking or anything haha.
bluesky_v2.01 @ Nov 5th 2008 5:02PM
YEah, they have make it very clear that posting inappropriate images will cause a temporary or permanent(not likely) ban from PSN. Otherwise - Anarchy!!!
Jake @ Nov 5th 2008 9:58AM
hhhmmm, i don't know how they would stop people uploading porn or offensive images, i think they may want to wait a while until the whole song thing is forgotten, that's whats probably holding them back
surely theres no way they can check every LBP level made to see if there's anything rude uploaded which would then make the game unsuitable for children
Syn @ Nov 5th 2008 10:24AM
That's why they gave players the ability to report with a screenshot.
Jake @ Nov 5th 2008 10:26AM
thats a good idea, you see i don't have the game yet so i don't know
still if someone doesn't report it and a child downloads that level, its just wrong
rgoff31 @ Nov 5th 2008 10:11AM
MM will have it/make it, Sony won't release it.
Just like MM had a LBP patch, but Sony recalled instead.
To big of a can of worms for Sony.
oskwish @ Nov 5th 2008 10:26AM
it was uploaded to flickr by mediamolecule! xD

Why would Media Molecule put a photoshop on their own site?
drdre74 @ Nov 5th 2008 10:46AM
Well they said that you would be able to put a password on your levels to keep people out of it that you didnt want to play it. So updating porn isnt a issue because they can ban your IP address if its not a locked level. Whoever said you can't take a pic of porn with the PSEYE?
Herobotic @ Nov 5th 2008 10:47AM
That's right everyone! Nothing to see here! Just keep buying Playstation Eyes!
modok @ Nov 5th 2008 11:00AM
man! and i just bought the PSeye...for what?! i feel like a putz.
SnazzyD @ Nov 5th 2008 11:25AM
It was already in the game, but has not been released for several reasons. File sizes could balloon like crazy (same thing for music files) and copyright violations will be more rampant than they already are.
This is new territory and Sony is being very careful. Don't blame MM for this - they've already nailed it, as this photo proves...
Mike @ Nov 5th 2008 1:56PM
I totally agree on the point about copyright issues - I think that is the bigger issue that can't be controlled as easily like file sizes.
pat1202003 @ Nov 5th 2008 12:20PM
MM need to make a d*** choice! Is it or isn't image importing going to be in LBP?
Corey B @ Nov 5th 2008 12:53PM
If it is a developer only tool then why post it on the website the day after the speculation?
tretle @ Nov 5th 2008 1:53PM
Yeah, I think theres a big possibility they didn't include it due to the abuse that may be caused with the inclusion but at the same time as a developer I could point you to plenty of different app devs who put placeholders in the ui before actually implementing any background work. The ui for importing pictures might have been put in there with the intention of adding the feature but when it came down to time constraints and the overall disadvantages of adding the import feature I dont really blame them.
How would they be able to moderate content flowing in, make sure grotesque pictures aren't distributed to 7 year olds.Would people prefer a waiting list and fee to get their content online, thats the only way I can see it working.
maybe if the game had a higher age rating, but I think the developers decided to boot this feature in order to keep it low and available to as many as possible.

id like this, it would help me make some awesome levels that i NEED real pics for
