LittleBigPlanet servers down until 5pm GMT

Sony has revealed, via ThreeSpeech, that the LittleBigPlanet online servers will be undergoing "essential maintenance" until 5pm GMT. That's midday Eastern and 9am Pacific, for all you Americans out there. Sounds like new servers are being installed to spread the weight of this week's European release. Hopefully this will be the last of the jiggery pokery necessary to get the online portion up to scratch. With the first batch of LittleBigPlanet DLC arriving today, we're looking forward to the new servers getting switched on so we can show off our new threads.

I can honestly say, I don't think the LBP servers have been online once when I've tried logging in since I bought the actual game.

i honestly think you haven't tried hard enough. i know i've played over 150 user levels.

They have been perfectly fine for the last couple days at least.

You're right, j.howlett, I haven't tried hard enough. I've actually done other things in the past week (work, life, etc). I merely can make the observation that when I HAVE tried, they've always been down.

I'm not saying they've never been up. Just that they've always been down when I've tried to log in. Pretty straightforward there.

Based on your comment you never really stated the # of times you (think) you tried logging into the servers. Now that you stated that you do have work, a life, etc. it helps to know. There have been times when I (who is in the same boat with work/life/school/girlfriend/etc.) haven't been able to log in, but I really could've cared less since my g/f and I still hadn't beat the developer-created levels.....

Well i got LBP this morning and i havnt been able to check if the online has improved from the Beta. Anyway, its good to know the time target here :) hopefully, it will be, as you said, Up to scratch after this.

I've manged to get online quite a bit since I got my copy yesterday morning. Playing user levels was fine, but I often had problems playing with other people. Hopefully it'll be sorted. :)

I too have problems when playing with other players...too much lag!!!!! and if someone have the headset it turns everything to hell :S And i know its not my conection because i can host more 16 players in warhawk :P

I agree. Whenever my g/f and I accidentally hit "Play Online with others" (or whatever it's called) it was laggy as hell, so I hope when the time comes for us to want to play online with others the lag will get sorted out....

i have been enjoying the user created levels. Is there an easy way to find a specific user game? I would love to play yours but do I have to rifle through each one to find a specific game?

You can use the search tool to search for "toilet trouble" and you might be able to search for me as a user "lukeindeidre"... that's what I've used in the past anyway for finding levels friends made.

My servers have been down on LBP AND GTA 4 for 2-3 days now, either that or they've been lagging. I thought it was maybe a firewall but it was doing fine before that and I hadn't messed with connections. Hmm maybe this is the issue. It still wouldn't explain GTA 4 online kicking me off though.

Online is fine for me, but yeah, playing with others can get laggy.
Please check out my level "The wall," creator name "eternalecho." I'd be happy for any comments, plays, etc.
For those who haven't tried it, the creation part becomes even more addictive than the actual playing. Check out my review on the front page of staticechoes.com for more thoughts and thanks to everyone for making this game so epic.

I hate to bitch about stuff, but man is this game's online frustrating awful. I have been able to get online once. ONCE. Seriously, how does that happen. It needs to get fixed soon, oh wait, too late, I went and picked up Gears of War 2 today....
