David @ Nov 7th 2008 2:14PM
WOW!
Beginning of FAQ:
Are you sure you are playing blu-ray discs? If yes, then you are probably playing The Fith Element...the discontinued version...which was crap. If not then you probably are outputting at 480p...if not then you are just trolling around...if not then you have problems.
End of FAQ
deaftly @ Nov 7th 2008 1:17PM
Upconverted DVD is just fine for me thanks
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Nov 7th 2008 1:18PM
ditto
brian @ Nov 7th 2008 2:02PM
Get a tv that doesn't suck!
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Nov 7th 2008 2:06PM
@brian...
how does a 1080p 120hz sony bravia suck...
what do u have a 13 inch sdtv?
Jeebus @ Nov 7th 2008 2:49PM
42" for 1080 content is just too small. You should see a small improvement, but not much.
Try going 60"+ that's where it really matters.
five8 @ Nov 7th 2008 2:58PM

if you don't notice a difference then you probably shouldn't bother with ever buying a bluray disc.
why even have any an hdtv and ps3 if you don't appreciate it. at least you're stimulating the economy.
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Nov 7th 2008 3:03PM

ummm ps3 looks great and hd conntent too but if i watch a dvd composite of course its gonna look horrible , but the ps3 is upconverting it to 1080p...
five8 @ Nov 7th 2008 3:08PM
i like how you don't read.
screen caps were upconverted dvd images.
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Nov 7th 2008 3:42PM
@five8
mine looks nothing close to that
plus my tv is a sony
one of the best out there
thats a 100 inch projector
stop talking to me. mine looks so much better than that
meatee @ Nov 7th 2008 3:52PM
So, you bought a really nice 1080p/120 Sony Bravia, yet you can't tell a difference? You may want to head down to your local optometrist, my friend.
burandon @ Nov 8th 2008 3:04AM
Just wanted to make a comment regarding Kevin's latest comment. The pictures from the link are actually not from the 100" projector; the information on Audio / Video is the poster's sig, and he's not the one that took the pictures.
So no, you don't have to get a 100" projector to notice the difference in PQ between an upscaled DVD and a Blu-ray =)
leatherface @ Nov 9th 2008 2:17AM
call the geek squad, they will calibrate it for you ( $$$). i have a 46'' samsung lcd 1080p, 30,000:1 contrast, 120 mhz and that thing looks amazing. i will never buy dvd's again, blu-ray's are just awesome to look at. go to best buy and check out a demo on the series 8 samsung. i am sure you will be able to tell the difference. oh and if you have disposable income, the series 9 looks badass straight out the box.
Jean @ Nov 7th 2008 12:52PM
are you legally blind ?
somedesigner @ Nov 7th 2008 12:53PM
LMAO!
somedesigner @ Nov 7th 2008 12:53PM
Mother Of God.
Zack @ Nov 7th 2008 1:06PM
Too bad Deep Discount DVD raised most of their good DVDs, BluRays, and HD-DVDs up about 25% to relinquish the sale. You'd find better prices on Amazon, without the sale.
Zero @ Nov 7th 2008 1:23PM
not really, Ive been watching iron man , going for $25 new ata amazon and Transformers $20 new at amazon, and I just scored each for less than that.
Eric E @ Nov 7th 2008 1:09PM
the movie has to be worth it to me, Great Visuals and special effects and/or fast action sequences (or just a personal favorite for extra content)
Unfortunately most of these are all those kinds of movies.
Matt @ Nov 7th 2008 1:19PM
Doesn't work on pre-orders, I thought that I'd snag Lost Season 4 for $39.64, instead of $52.85 or $49.95 on Amazon...but it doesnt work
Dave @ Nov 7th 2008 1:19PM
As someone who owns the Coppolla Restoration of the Godfather on Blu-Ray, I can highly, highly recommend it. Especially at that price.
Pete @ Nov 7th 2008 5:30PM
Me too, I would recommend it anyday.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saaaturday, Wenzday, Sunday
Gaucho @ Nov 7th 2008 2:14PM
You're actually "recommending" the new Indiana Jones movie. You heartless bastard.
dabamf @ Nov 7th 2008 1:43PM
IX-NAY ON T2!!! That blu-ray sux!!!!!!
Paul @ Nov 7th 2008 1:57PM
How comes, like?
dabamf @ Nov 7th 2008 2:13PM
Whoever handled the transfer to T2 to blu-ray did a crappy job. "The Terminator" suffered the same problem on blu-ray, as did "28 Days Later." "Commando," though, is GREAT!
frinetik @ Nov 7th 2008 2:35PM
Um...it's just "Bender's Game". You're ruining the Orson Scott Card reference when you get that wrong.
darthbuckets @ Nov 7th 2008 2:54PM
ResellerRatings do not have many good things to say about this place.
In addition, their free shipping option is significantly inferior to Amazon's.
The deals look good, but these are things to consider.
Menchi @ Nov 7th 2008 3:00PM
Thanks for the info!
Picked me up Torchwood season 1 on BluRay and Doctor Who season 3. Also picked up the dead space animation on blu-ray.
Jon Acheson @ Nov 7th 2008 3:00PM
In other Blu-Ray news, I just noticed a discounted Blu-Ray section at Wal-Mart last night with titles going for $14.95. Blu-Ray continues to follow DVD's price trajectory...
B @ Nov 7th 2008 3:43PM
I just tried to check out with the Pirates Trilogy and The Matrix Collection and they're already OOS. :(
strike @ Nov 7th 2008 6:28PM
Musrat Smells!!!!!!!!!
sinai @ Nov 7th 2008 7:22PM
or as chinese darth vader would say "DO NOT WANT!!!!!"
but really, great deals!
FAC3xLESS @ Nov 8th 2008 3:26PM
I think I am about to get Dead Space: Downfall on Bluray, all in all with the discount and promotional code, it says 17 bucks... Stilld deciding if it's worth it. I know I 100%-ed Dead Space on PS3 trophies and all. But Resistance 2, and Gears 2 has me focused on that right now and my wallet is kind of hurting.. Damn.
Kramer @ Nov 8th 2008 11:52PM
Is it about amazon.com from parallel universe?
Godfather is $61.95, Matrix is $74.95.
NONE of coupon codes listed work.
Everything in this article is FALSE.
Mooex @ Nov 10th 2008 9:30AM
Codes do work, i made a list of all the blu-rays i can buy b4 it expires on the 23, unfortunately already bought, my favorites on amazon :(
