Watchmen: The End Is Nigh revealed

The latest issue of EGM has revealed an upcoming Watchmen game, to be released around the same time as the movie in 2009. Subtitled The End Is Nigh, the Watchmen game will be episodic and downloadable via the PlayStation Network. The game will be a prequel to the movie, though there are currently few details regarding how it will actually play.
1Up promises that Watchmen fans needn't be worried about the franchise being treated badly. Several advisors for The End Is Nigh have worked on the original graphic novel, such as artist Dave Gibbons and Editor Len Wein. Sadly Alan Moore himself is nowhere to be seen. The game will flesh out the backstory of the comics a little more. There's a lot to play with so we're intrigued to see more details once they're finally released.

Alan Moore doesn't like the idea of making movies of his work, I seriously doubt he would want anything to do with a game.
JohnHype @ Nov 10th 2008 2:21PM
Alan Moore doesn't like movies period. He doesn't watch them and he's ticked off at Warner Bros. for things completely unrelated to the movie. He's about the last person whose opinion I'd ask on a video game or any technology invented after 1812.

Alan Moore is a big whiny bitch. He's a genius comic book author, but he's still a pretty big idiot.

This game will fail.
lakaihigh @ Nov 10th 2008 5:48PM
Oh and why is that jerses? i love how you provide answers for your quick and pointless iteration.
peace,

There is no need to point out why this game will fail... but if you like just answer this question (it might give you the answer).
Name 3 games based on comics that are worth playing ( doesnt count if for example youre fan of superman and even liked the one for N64).
Comic games are like movie games...they just hire low life devs to make them.
But dont get me wrong i like the comic and will be on first line to watch the movie, but im tired of games based on comics or movies... they just give devs a year to make them just so they release them before the movie.so its not theyre fault.

The film is looking VERY faithful to the comic so a game should be very interesting.
I'd love to play as Rorschach

Has that movie already come out? Maybe I didn't "get it" but the trailers looked laughable.

read the novel. it's generally regarded as the best graphic novel of all time.
Daniel @ Nov 10th 2008 2:23PM
In what way? If it's the story telling, then I'll have to check it out. If it's the art, I'll pass. I've seen some excerpts and the art style/character design just turns me off.
Roto13 @ Nov 10th 2008 2:31PM
Storytelling, definitely. The art is pretty generic, but the story is fantastic.
dip @ Nov 10th 2008 2:59PM
It's made a couple top 100 novels (*novels* not just comics) of all time lists. It really is quite fantastic.
estarriol @ Nov 10th 2008 7:14PM
It's absolutely incredible storytelling. The artwork is only notable for its attention to detail. It's deservedly the best graphic novel ever, it's possibly my favourite *book*.
estarriol @ Nov 10th 2008 3:47PM
Oh - and two tips:-
- Read it ASAP, before the film and people talking about it spoiler it for you.
- Read it in one sitting and take your time. This may take 12+ hours but I assure you it will be worth it.
Daniel @ Nov 10th 2008 3:47PM
I'll definitely give it a look now. Thanks guys.
On another note, my favorite GN of all time was the original Crow GN. Yeah, I know it's hack, but I liked it.
Tom @ Nov 10th 2008 4:52PM
For 'attention to detail' read 'little blue penis'. I didn't really like the comic. Not much in it. Nice ending, though.
Roto13 @ Nov 10th 2008 2:11PM
Why are people acting like this is the first they've heard of this game? :P This was announced around the same time the movie trailer came out (with The Dark Knight).
