Famitsu reveals Yakuza 3 battle system details
Famitsu (translation via IGN) has unveiled in its latest issue details regarding the battle system of Yakuza 3. One of the major improvements is seamless transitions into fights. Another note-worthy addition is the foes you encounter may decide to run away from you (and vice versa, if you are chicken) -- you now have to option to engage in a "chase battle" to pursuit the enemy. This "chase battle" involves keeping your enemy in sight with your mini map and avoiding any obstacles that may appear in your path.
A "tag tournament mode" was also shown in the gaming magazine's pages. Your character enters a fighting arena where you must team up with a partner (whether this is a CPU partner or something else isn't clear) to unleash some co-op attacks on your enemies.
The last iteration of the Yakuza franchise on the PS3 sold fairly well over in Japan. Unfortunately, it hasn't received a stateside release (yet) -- here's to hoping Sega will bring both Yakuza games over to the Western market.

That article is linked to Kenzan, not Yakuza 3.

Kenzan = Yakuzain japan its called kenzan, see?

The series is called Ryu ga Gotoku. Kenzan is the subtitle for the third game in the series, but not Yakuza 3. Kenzan, BTW, is a Japanese expression equivalent to "gotcha", "surprise" or "boo" in the US as an exclamation of surprising someone, it's often used as an expression for Samurai and Ninjas in modern Japanese pop culture.
The series is (americanized names, for the Japanese replace Yakuza with Ryu ga Gotoku):
Yakuza (PS2)
Yakuza 2 (PS2)
Yakuza: Kenzan! (PS3) *already released*
Yakuza 3 (PS3) *the upcoming game this article is discussing*
The mistake was IGN's, they filed the article under the wrong game.

Well, now that I think about it, Kenzan doesn't necessarily indicate a surprise, it can also simply be an equivalent of "never fear, Underdog is here" type of expression.

They better release it here. This is Sega's only great series that they have at the moment.

Sega is stupid did not bring Yakuza franchise well to the US market, that is why sega is lack of competing in other developers such as Konami. If MGS4 only has Jap voice, I wouldn't waste my time to read the English subtitle.
Sega should make use of the PS3 Blu-Ray abilities, to fit both language into one disk. I don't care if this game only on the PS3.
