LBP Motorstorm and Animals costumes priced and dated for US

As we guessed when we saw a similar set of LittleBigPlanet DLC offered to Japan two days ago, the costume of Toro, the main character of Mainich Isshyo, has been left out in the US release. Replacing the feline will be a MotorStormer costume, as seen above. On the left of the MotorStormer is a freebie based on the winning design of the SCEE costume contest, a Sack-Eating Plant.
The remaining costumes are the same wildlife ones from the Japanese release, and now they have names: Lilly Pad (chameleon frog), Hugo (gorilla), Great Blue (shark) and Frost-E (penguin). The animals can be purchased individually for $0.99 each or as a 4-pack for $2.99. The MotorStormer will be $1.99. All of them will make their US debuts tomorrow, November 13th, on the PS Store. Head over to the official LBP blog to check out the rest of the costumes.

whens the uk ones coming out?
somedesigner @ Nov 12th 2008 9:06AM
I was hoping they would be more expensive... *sigh* : (
somedesigner @ Nov 12th 2008 9:09AM
On a side note, congratulations to whomever won... they kind of thing is extremely cool. I didn't mean to downplay that aspect of the post.
Think Adrian @ Nov 12th 2008 8:29AM
Any news how to use UK-Store downloads with US-imported games (particularly LBP).... :(
Milereb @ Nov 12th 2008 10:48AM
Not. LBP DLC is region locked. You'll need to buy the DLC from the region your copy comes from. Make a US account and buy a PSN card of ebay. I've been doing this for a year now.. with the exception of buying it of ebay I have family to buy me ones in the US.
Laurens Holst @ Nov 12th 2008 12:27PM
Easier than buying PSN cards is to create a virtual credit card at entropay.com; because they do not perform a location check (even if your account lists a non-US address) you can pay with that on the US PSN Store.
The numbers issued are also not really credit cards, but rather debit cards (you have to deposit money on it in advance), so it’s also a pretty safe choice for other payments ;).
supa_s @ Nov 12th 2008 1:09PM
I don't understand why you imported the US version when the UK got the game as well. You couldn't wait a week?
Think Adrian @ Nov 12th 2008 1:31PM
Milereb & Laurens Holst: Thank you so much!
supa_s: I got it cheaper so I can afford all the costumes ;)
Kellian @ Nov 12th 2008 8:36AM
These look adorable - still wondering when the "Week One" Rare T-shirt will be made available in the US though..
The_Icon @ Nov 12th 2008 8:38AM
I am gonna download free stuff only...sorry.
Eggy @ Nov 12th 2008 9:02AM
No need to apologise. :D
Gonzo @ Nov 12th 2008 12:03PM
I'm with you Icon.
$2 for a little costume (especially one that advertises another sony game) is kind of a raw deal.
It would be worth it if it came with objects and other stuff to help make a motorstorm themed level. But wait... you're probably not allowed anyway.
The costumes are cute but rather useless, gameplay wise. If they're going to be charging for all of them, they got to give us some useful stuff to go with it.
The_Icon @ Nov 12th 2008 12:50PM
Well u guys think thats overpriced? I heard in Europe they have the MM day 1 costume for like 6$!
Sackolantern PSN ID: johnnynumber5 @ Nov 12th 2008 1:27PM
We all know what will happen in a few months. They will have some kind of limited time costume bundle pack where you can get all the more expensive content for a cheaper price.
What would be a real win is if Media Molecule released a skin/costume creator via a free update patch. I'm already loving the Little Big Workshop but I don't expect a character creator until Little Big Planet 2 if at all.
Alex @ Nov 12th 2008 8:54AM
I would just like to take the time to congratulate the winner of the sackboy costume contest. So congrats!
I would also like to say that one of the costumes that I designed is also in the game!!
Check out my drawing here that I submitted to Media Molecule as part of their Sackboy Costume Contest:

Are they saying that the animals ones are theirs? Or the animals were taken from submissions given to them during the contest? Because my submission looks just like the one they have! I think we should get some credit!
Korsa @ Nov 12th 2008 8:53AM
the halloween and spaceman are cool in the UK store but i cant seem to buy ANYTHING keeps giving me an error lately.... so no motorstorm sackboy for me,
as for the week 1 t-shirt... guys is £3.99 here thats like nearly $7!?!?!? for a black t-shirt do u really want it?
prodigy_69 @ Nov 12th 2008 9:08AM
awesome costumes..especially the LittleSackofHorrors plant ^_^
but I feel these all should be free DLC
Kruegmeister @ Nov 12th 2008 9:11AM
$1 for a LBP costume seems a bit much.
$.50 would be more reasonable.
The MotorStormer should be free to anybody who paid $120 and bought MotorStorm2 and LBP...
Aren't we getting a little greedy here.
The Good News is you don't have to buy it.
The Choice is still ours.
Christian @ Nov 12th 2008 10:12AM
Almost my thought exactly. That the LBP Motorstorm outfit should have been made a gift to people who buy Motorstorm Pacific Rift.
SaMav @ Nov 12th 2008 12:21PM
Well if you buy the pack which includes all four costumes, then technically you're only paying 75 cents a pop........*cough plus tax, cough*
cartman58 @ Nov 12th 2008 9:12AM
Wait, so at least some of these are user-made costumes that they took and are now selling? Unreal.
Moe @ Nov 12th 2008 9:17AM
Learn to read genius. The user created one(sack eating plant) is free. The others made by MM are sold.
dmd @ Nov 12th 2008 9:15AM
Its an nice costume, Alex. Good job! ;]
il_duce620 @ Nov 12th 2008 9:17AM
I'm a Linux guy...so it's worth $1 to get a penguin costume for my sackboy... :-P
MBO @ Nov 12th 2008 6:44PM
i guess they could make a silver apple guy, but wut about me? im a windows guy.
Small_hands @ Nov 12th 2008 9:28AM
Come on, with a name like 'lilly pad' isnt it obvious now that the chameleon costume is actually a frog costume?
On a side note, long time reader first time poster! ^^ and my first comment is a complaint (thats the British way!)
Any news on UK/EU prices/release date? I'm loving the animals pack, plus a free costume is always well received!
anonymous @ Nov 13th 2008 12:32PM
first time? lol what part of britain are you from? =P
Joe @ Nov 12th 2008 9:30AM
These look awesome. Hope they appear on the UK store tomorrow.
deaftly @ Nov 12th 2008 9:43AM
Yay for horse armor!
Moe @ Nov 12th 2008 9:48AM
Shut your mouth, if you don't have anything good to say don't say anything.
ulrich @ Nov 12th 2008 9:51AM
Cool costumes....
Sooo...... is it alright to make a motorstormish level for the motorstorm character? Or will that be "moderated"
Daniel @ Nov 12th 2008 10:18AM
From what I've seen, you'll be fine as long as you don't name your level "Motorstorm Level". They seem to have a problem with people who don't own the rights to a property using said propertie's name. *gasp*
I understand the bit-torrent generation feels entitled to be able to ignore copyrights in any way they see fit, but that doesn't make it right to do so.
on a related note:
The fantastic GoW level from the beta was back up last night.
rgoff31 @ Nov 12th 2008 10:19AM
I not a big fan of Paid DLC costumes, but the Gorilla and the Shark are pretty damn cool.
Ulrich @ Nov 12th 2008 10:27AM
Yeah I'm cool with copyrights and stuff... I would like a little clarity on the line we can't cross... lol don't use a copyrighted name in the title... seems like a good place to start... lol
Ranben @ Nov 12th 2008 10:42AM
LBP has really lost it for me, I don't think I'd ever be able to pay for clothes for my character to wear. :I
daniel @ Nov 12th 2008 11:51AM
Then just download the free one. Easy as that.
tbor @ Nov 12th 2008 10:57AM
It seems the business plan du jour for video game consoles is nickel and diming people for add on content.
JAH75157 @ Nov 12th 2008 10:57AM
i won't be buying crap like this
JaffaBoy @ Nov 12th 2008 12:05PM
Please just get the pricing across regions set fairly.
Don't want to see $0.99 = £0.99 (but I have a feeling it will go just like that)
NotoriousJnX @ Nov 12th 2008 12:11PM
I'm going to go broke on this game alone
Tim Parsons @ Nov 12th 2008 12:41PM
Cool I might get all those,. then again i might not get either
realityzero @ Nov 12th 2008 12:49PM
Will definitely get the pet ones and the free ones but no way im going to pay for a motorstorm one.
Michael K. @ Nov 12th 2008 12:56PM
I'll download free ones but the only one I plan on paying for is the Snake costume
Inspace2020 @ Nov 12th 2008 1:12PM
Sweet!! I'm getting ALL OF THEM...I can't wait for a major expansion with new textures and stickers!!! I love this game.
THE GUARDIAN @ Nov 12th 2008 2:45PM
OOOOOOOHHHHHH CUTE, I'M IN!!! :P :D
DarthMazza @ Nov 12th 2008 4:08PM
I'm gonna agree with those that already said and avoid these downloads. While they are cute and all, just not worth the cash the fork over. It's hard to decide now because I got the platinum in the game so there'll better be some awesome outfits worth to go back and play.
Sancho @ Nov 12th 2008 4:29PM
for the guy who made the penguin costume i sent a letter to sony asking why they're charging for the costume you made and not giving you credit add me on PSN (Sancho45) and i'll tell you their response
Kyle @ Nov 12th 2008 5:04PM
I'm sort of upset about the fact that these cost so much for little suits. It'd be much more reasonable if they charged $2 for a level they've created in their spare time or whatever and you can unlock the suit yourself (by acing the level). That way you'll not only have a sense of accomplishment. but not every joe schmo with $2 extra will have it.
