This Street Fighter II trailer is the best around
Remember Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix? Remember how it was supposed to come out this summer? Yeah, guess that didn't happen. The team at Capcom and Udon Comics have been working very hard in tweaking the game, making sure the visuals are smoother than ever. Check out this new trailer, which takes the "retro vibe" that Capcom's going for, and punches you in the face with it.

nice!

Who thinks this will initially have lag and who says it won't?
schmiggy_jk @ Nov 12th 2008 4:53PM
It wont, have you read reports of the beta?
Plus it is using http://ggpo.net/ , the devs of that lagless online network are working with Capcom on SSF2HD and SSF4 for online play.
And if you have ever used that you would know it runs nearly perfect.
Gambit07 @ Nov 12th 2008 6:27PM
Sounds good, but you know how things can turn out with the initial release.
drdre74 @ Nov 12th 2008 1:20PM
All this time and hype and it still doesnt do a damn thing for me. they could have added some tweens to it to smooth out the animation. I still think its choppy and its going to lag like crazy online.

I think that new frames of animation would have required a complete rebuild of the game engine and pushed the project even more over budget than it is. It would probably have been canceled altogether. I also wish it were smoother but I love old-school SF so I cannot complain.
Since Capcom licensed some of the ggpo code, I'm expecting a smooth online experience. I didn't have many problems with Soul Calibur IV and that had much more stuff going on.
War Machine @ Nov 12th 2008 5:59PM
They seriously could've added more frames in between the original ones without much effort, and that would've made the game seem less choppy and more natural. That's my main gripe with the HD Remix.
The online should run well enough, if the connection of both players is good, it should be fine.

headline had me expecting exactly what the trailer gave. time for a training montage
Darren Tilley @ Nov 12th 2008 1:29PM
They were supposed to have inbetween frames but those were removed. That was the biggest loss for me. I really wanted to see the game running smooth even if those extra frames were merely cosmetic.
Originally, they were redrawing the sprites with a more modern style. Instead they went back to the drawing board and in essence just upscaled the existing sprites.
They could have saved themselves a lot of money by using interns to just redraw the sprites. I thought they went with Udon because they would be able to add their own style, but really, this game is now just looking like plain jane Street Fighter right.

imo, this may be one of the most over hyped games ever. seriously, it's street fighter II. i've played four different versions of this game on four different platforms. with the delays and the new makeup, it's still street fighter. bring on IV. that actually looks good.
Teepanen @ Nov 12th 2008 3:06PM
This is gonna be a $10 PSN game, right? It's barely worth that IMO... Aside from nostalgia for those who've played this in the past, I do not see how it will attract a new audience.

I'm sorry but this trailer doesn't do justice to the song like the South Park episode did with Randy the father. I couldn't stop laughing in the end, I kept asking myself "Why does his pants keep falling down?!" Lol, anywho interesting to see SF coming back with a storm, this rls, the Tasuntko thing on Wii and 4, wicked.
SpOOkyLarS @ Nov 12th 2008 4:09PM
