European Home situation update
It's only been a week since we were told that the European Home beta expansion was pretty close and that the open beta was expected "within weeks," but now TedTheDog has updated us with some more information regarding the current situation. Don't panic -- it's all good news. Here's how the whole situation will play out.
Firstly the version 1.0 patch notes will be made available for those currently in the Home beta. They will be published in the closed beta forums, but don't be surprised if they spill out of there shortly thereafter. A few days after that version 1.0 will go live. Within a day or so of that invitations will be sent out as the closed beta gets significantly expanded as a load test for the servers. The open beta will begin shortly afterwards (a matter of weeks).
So there we have it. We'll let you know when any of the above actually happens, as usual. Can you taste it? It's close. We just hope version 1.0 brings some significant updates to the service like, for example, some actual content. Here's hoping.

i got playstation home closed beta last week from qore annual subscription. so if you did not get an invitation yet. you will sooner or later. i waited over 1 year so now i got in the playstation home closed beta. so i think the open beta will come on November 19th to December, and then the final version will come in December, to 1 quarter of 2009. go to http://forum.playstationhome.com/index.php?showtopic=2151
then you will see when if it will come. you just have to what and see.

linebeginstoblur @ Nov 15th 2008 11:41AM
No offense, but this Home thing is a joke, and I'm not laughing. Personally, I don't care if the full version were released today. I'm not mad at SCE London. Maybe I'm just looking back and seeing that Home isn't really something I'm interested in after all. I gained access to the beta a couple months ago, but it's rare I boot it up. They hyped this up for years and years, and now there isn't much of anything there for me. Plus the controls didn't feel right and things seemed empty (and I hated waiting at least twenty minutes waiting for any new building I walk into to download and install to my hard drive).
No offense to anyone who is still excited for this. I'm just saying that.. I'm not. Sorry. And I'm sorry for talking like this, but when I hear news of people saying things about Home like "I know we said it would be ready by now and it isn't, but I PROMISE it will be ready soon!" I just laugh and shake my head. They said the delays were because they wanted the first impressions of it to be good. Well, for me and many others, our first impressions WERE all the delays, so yeah...
Kspraydad @ Nov 15th 2008 11:46AM
Isn't part of your issue that you don't play (or hardly play) multiplayer games? From this I'd say you are not a 'social' gamer and HOME would necessarily be less attractive to that type of gamer.
Eggy @ Nov 16th 2008 4:37AM
Hyped this up for years? Home was announced in march 2007.
mixelmagic @ Nov 16th 2008 1:28PM
"(and I hated waiting at least twenty minutes waiting for any new building I walk into to download and install to my hard drive)."
Dial up? I don't think you're the target market, half of the features wouldn't work with that slow a connection. it's never taken me more than a couple of minutes to download even the big areas (japan's home square is pretty giant)
linebeginstoblur @ Nov 16th 2008 1:44PM
@mixelmagic
No, I don't have dial-up. If anything, maybe it was server lag.
Packfan @ Nov 15th 2008 12:08PM
Well Home needs content before I'll ever come back to it. Give me my trophy room so I can show my digital e-peen. 456 trophies FTW.
The Aggie CEO @ Nov 15th 2008 12:24PM
bah.......only 456????
Twinturbo120 @ Nov 15th 2008 12:14PM
I don't care what anyone says I own all three consoles and HOME looks way more different and this is what stands ABOVE the crowd. Believe it or not this will make a difference and it will be awesome =D
Daniel @ Nov 15th 2008 12:15PM
With the current amount of bugs, and issues especially the logging in issue that almost every new beta tester including myself and about 30 or more others are experiencing. I really don't see it coming out anytime soon. I was wondering what was taking so long myself but now that I got in on Nov. 5th and haven't been able to log in at all or even see past the title screen (network error, it's something on Sony's end...it's happened to a lot of testers and all the new Qore testers as well...it was fixed for one guy and they're supposedly going to fix it for the rest of us too) now I see why it's taken so long for the service to come out.
orthonovum @ Nov 16th 2008 1:31AM
we (closed beta testers) are not seeing the current code base, don't forget
besides.. NOTHING is bug free and if anyone says otherwise they are not a developer :)
Nathan Hughes @ Nov 15th 2008 12:28PM
hey if anyone can tell me how to increase my chance of getting a beta invitation, if anyone can help please email me @ nathan1hughes@gmail.com
cheers
Nathan-DTS @ Nov 15th 2008 12:41PM
Good news? Home? What's happening in the world today?
Paul from NYC @ Nov 15th 2008 1:06PM
You know, I strongly believe they should just take another year and work on the beta. Let everyone now what they ultimately expect out of home and work from there. I honestly think most ps3 users have yet to see the big picture with home and right away feel home has nothing to offer because of what they see so far (beta). I believe Home is suppose to replace the xmb. If thats the case , then I wont mind Turning on my PS3 and pop right into a virtual world where I can find others with videos, pcitures and music to share. oops did I say music...
Kspraydad @ Nov 15th 2008 1:09PM
I've never heard SONY say HOME is replacing the XMB...where did you get that from?
kamiboy @ Nov 15th 2008 4:22PM
Anyone care to wager that even with all the delays and stress tesing the servers are going to crash and experience problems on launch anyway?
maidsandharem @ Nov 15th 2008 4:46PM
yes, hopefully not though im fine with xmb hell i dont have time or money to play my ps3
Tann @ Nov 15th 2008 1:56PM
when was home first said to be coming out? just out of curiosity:)
maxpontiac @ Nov 15th 2008 4:15PM
We have waited long enough..
Quit waiting to see what the "NXE" rip-off is all about prior to Home release.
DrunkRaba @ Nov 15th 2008 4:50PM
NXE offers so little value or anything extra thaa your comment is completely laughable. It is just a step above the Mii-parade.
Tez @ Nov 15th 2008 4:23PM
Subscribe to Qore.
KarlW @ Nov 15th 2008 4:28PM
The PSP store isn't barren, and with all first-party games getting simultaneous store/UMD release, it'll soon fill up.
It sucks having to download through 802.11b though. Get some g/n Sony!
drepsx3 @ Nov 17th 2008 4:52PM
So is america going to get it or not?
lorddshadow2 @ Nov 15th 2008 8:42PM
i never understood why people say that. i have n and my psp's wifi works fine with it. what's up with that?
Kspraydad @ Nov 15th 2008 7:01PM
Since the launch of the online store in NA I think we have had 1 demo and 2 themes.
In a MONTH.
2 out of 5 weeks there was no content AT ALL.
Everyweek there are at least 10 new BD movies...maybe you could put a trailer or 10 up.
Everyweek SONY artists are creating new music...maybe you could put a sample or interview up.
There is a back catalog of 1300+ PS1 games...how many are on the NA store?
Steve @ Nov 15th 2008 7:53PM
I am a Qore subscriber and I got an invite last night. I think there were other subscribers that got theirs too according to a few message boards. Its kind of interesting and I haven't really had any issues logging in like one poster claimed. However until they have more content it is nothing more than a chat room.
orthonovum @ Nov 16th 2008 1:30AM
@lorddshadow2
because your router does a/b/g/n so when the PSP connects to it its using b
the PSP does not support n or g
and to the OP.. what are you talking about barren???? *sigh*
Mr P @ Nov 16th 2008 12:02PM
Hi there, i'm a regular reader of ps3fanboy and have also been fortunate to be a HOME beta tester since August. Pretty sure that this latest news wasn't meant to be released to the general public just yet but since it is I just want to say to those that are looking forward to home that you won't be disappointed.
DeathroW @ Nov 16th 2008 2:27PM
Um, this was released to the public by TedTheDog, the home community manager guy..
drunkenshaolin @ Nov 16th 2008 8:01AM
whats annoying that the xboxlive, has had there dashboard and change it to the NXE this weds, all before this Home has come out...
this Home has come to be a big embaracement for sony, keep expecting to here another delay to 09
tengu_soldier @ Nov 16th 2008 12:59PM
u spelt embarrassment wrong
Kspraydad @ Nov 16th 2008 12:10PM
@orthonovum
Maybe I should clarify for you
Barren: completely wanting or lacking
You think the PSP Store isn't?
Haohmaru @ Nov 16th 2008 9:33PM
I agree on the PSone titles. If Wii's Virtual Console hasn't proven anything else, it's proven that people are READY AND WILLING to pay up for retro games - as long as they're good games. For example, take Suikoden - it's been months since it was rated by the ESRB, yet still SCEA sits on it. Meanwhile, they give us "Cool Boarders 2" and the original PS1 Warhawk. Come on, Sony, give me a reason to buy a PS1 title that isn't Castlevania SOTN and Wild Arms.
