Metal Gear Online: MEME Expansion available this week
The MEME Expansion also includes three new maps: Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight and Winter Warehouse. Those that don't buy the expansion will see new optional rules, such as the "No Headshot" setting, which disables one-hit KOs from head shots. A new "Interval" mode allows players to practice online with other players, with no effect on their online stats.
The GENE Expansion will be playable next week, on November 25th. However, European gamers will be able to pre-purchase the expansion tomorrow for 7.99 Euro. Update: Americans will be able to get the pack individually for $9.99, or bundled with the MEME Expansion for $14.99.

I was about to say, it sounds like they have a server option labeled "fun" now. That's the only thing (besides slightly weird controls) I didn't like about MGO.

yeah I dont see why they are spending so much time on online but not on trophies or a DLC pack for the main game maybe? I havent played online in a few months now. I may pick it back up once they update the play modes. I doubt I'll buy the pack since i bought the last one and I dont remember my 3 ID passwords you need to even buy anything.

2 things made it unplayable for me. Instant headshots and horrible lag. I think this latest expansion fixes one of those problems, dunno about the lag.

I don't know why my other comment didn't post, or why I have received an e-mail to confirm it either...*cough*Andreeeew*cough* (j/p, I don't know what's up).
I'm excited about the prospect of turning off headshots. It's weird, but in this game, you can't just get the headshot by pointing at the other player's head. After watching some video footage, I realized that you have to rapidly rock back and forth so that you can score a headshot. The hit detection seems completely odd in that way.
On the other hand, I've seen lvl 9's where the moment I catch sight of them, before I can even respond, *BOOM* headshot and I'm dead and these guys didn't even appear to draw their gun and there definitely wasn't any rocking motion to achieve it either, so maybe it's all lag?
The overall lag problem isn't that bad...I've seen a few instances here and there where I shot somebody, they immediately disappeared, and then suddenly they teleported to my side or behind me and shot me dead. But people intentionally stooping to such cheating are few and far between. Most connections aren't great (host) but stable enough to play a decent game.
It's a beautiful, flawed game. I hope this next release indeed fixes some of its shortcomings. let's hope the next release and some cqc tae-kwon-do perk instead of the ultra-slow PPK.

MGO is a pretty badass game to play, but the community is awfully too small. I was pretty excited about this new pack when I first heard about it but CoD:WaW is taking me away... O_o

My only wish is that this was all playable in the main game, MGO:PO style. I don't need to know WHY Ocelot or even old snake is in 1974, he just IS and it's fun to play. If I could be Meryl or Ocelot in the main story, just like you could be EVA or Gene in PO, I just may pee myself.

Why when people suck at a game, theres allways some reason? ya mgo2 has a lag problem sometimes. but alot of the time, when right when i see someone, ill go in over the shoulder and it will be right on his head and I shoot, ohhh wow a instant headshot, why do people cry about someone being better than them?
MGO2 isnt as good as mgo1, it has problems, but i can guarantee that most the people on here, that are whining about stupid stuff(other than lag) sucked ass at the game.
And for anyone who dosnt have the gene pack, you should defiently get it just for SURVIVAL. Survival is a alot of fun, i dont even play mgo during the week, but friday,sat, and sunday night I play because its so much fun. and with meme a new tournament mode comes out.

3. WHY CANT I LEVEL UP MY CqC? i use it. trust me i do. I have over 200 hours logged online.

I'm guessing you have it equipped from the skills page right? Throw in running so you can close distance faster, and scanner as well since you'll be grabbing people anyway. You'll be praised like a god by your teammates if you learn to scan for team sneak. Also make sure you are only using a 1h weapon when grabbing people.

There are rooms where there's no killing and only to level up your CQC and other skills. Just join and ask them.

Thanks i shall try that. Iam not really a fan of leveling up in rooms......... just seems like a cheap way or leveling a skill.
Everything i have i have earned. I only have mastery in Runner, AR, Sniper, Monomoa, quarterback and now iam trying for box move (dont know why) and cqc+knifing.
Like i said before i have over 200 hours logged online. I have gone from level 7 down to a 4, back up to a 7 and now iam at a 6. I've had horrible droughts. and ive had major streaks. I love/hate this game because it's different everytime i play. some people are really good and others not so much. but one little slip up and Down you fall in rank.
Cant wait for the expansions. i was holding off on gene because of price. but i will be buying the bundle asap. Money tight right now.

i wont play it till they stricly use the PSN like every other game. Trophies would be nice too. That Konami ID thing was the stupidest thing they ever done and not worth my time or money for DLC.

I can kind of see Konami's intent with making their login system the way that it is...multiple games, each with their own game ID, all under the umbrella of a single Konami ID. But what sounds good on paper has worked out well in practice. Besides, what other online Konami games even exist right now?! I guess they're planning for some sort of future but as of right now, the system is broken and they should be relying on the PSN until their own system's bugs has fully developed and tested thoroughly until adequate.

im sorry.. but you are an idiot if you try to "earn' your skills.. it takes forever to even level up in a room dedicated to it.. i used to be like that when i started playing but i realized how stupid it is that they offer skills that you should already have.. + you only get 4 slots and some take ip 3 when its maxed out. anyways.. im on the fence about MEME because they need to fix that damn glitch.... i dont care for that no headshots option but i do like that unranked room idea.. would cut down on rank whores who leave games after they die.

Ok IGN is saying that the expansion packs will be available on the PlayStation Store anybody hear anything about this? And in my opinion MGO is the best for online absolutely ridiculously fun combat! But I haven't played Call of Duty WAW so I cant say that my opinion means anything. Resistance 2 excellent story but hated online gameplay, not as fun as MGO.

i really think in all games friendly fire should be on to make the full experience because CQC will be useless without friendly fire
for instance i grab the enemy and the other guy walks in the door and sees me what can he do?
