Sonic not-so-Unleashed, coming in December
If for some reason you're waiting for the PS3 version of Sonic Unleashed, be prepared to wait a bit longer. The PS2 and Wii versions of the game will be available tomorrow as planned. However, the Xbox 360 and PS3 version have been delayed. The 360 version of Unleashed will be available next week -- but the PS3 version is inexplicably delayed to December. We're not sure for the reasons behind the delay, but we doubt anyone is truly crushed by a few weeks of wait for the hedgehog's upcoming game.

It seems to be delayed in graphic fidelity order?
Maybe it takes longer to ship the extra pixels.
Gambit07 @ Nov 17th 2008 11:38PM
Sorry Sonic you weren't welcome here anyway, go play with Tails.
Kspraydad @ Nov 17th 2008 11:39PM

I am looking forward to this game - but I wasn't going to get it until Winter break anyway, so it has minimal effect on me.
James @ Nov 18th 2008 12:26AM

Ya know whats really sad? Reading comments here and noticing the lot of you are really jabbing them hardcore when its obvious you have no experience in the industry. Sonic Team isn't a huge company. They do work for Sega and alot of it at that. They ARE Sega's main development team.
Busy? Beta testing? You people were the most skeptical of literal 2 core or 1 core ports to the PS3. Well now, they're doing real slow porting and making sure everything is finalized for the PS3 and you're all whining? No pleasing rageboys.

Thank you, someone here has an idea. I said it before, I welcome delays in a good sense especially in this case. It is like how most gamers moan about no trophies! It was implemented late and to patch games requires sources from other projects within development teams and money!
I am literally dying to try this game out and see if it is really good. The last good Sonic game I played was Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast.
The PS3 version of Sonic the Hedgehog was awful as it was rushed, way too rushed. I am probably going to be asking for this game for Xmas if it is good.
JAH75157 @ Nov 18th 2008 6:30AM
no sega fanboy i think most of us are just saying we don't care, there's too much to play right now.
get down off your soap box.
linebeginstoblur @ Nov 18th 2008 4:10PM
They're probably just bitter since there hasn't been a good Sonic game ever since it made the jump to 3D, and, judging by parts of this game (example: see picture above), this one included.
tekkentool @ Nov 18th 2008 8:37AM
totally agree with the dude above me ^ ftw ty you rock my world, anyway. from what i've heard in the early reports of the ps3 version, the night time level had frame rate problems, i can wait another freaking like 2-3 weeks to have a smoother frame rate. another thing that startles me is how much some people can bash stuff with no experience. i've recently been trying to get into a little c++ programming, let me tell you it is harder than a t-rex's shit. it feels like a freaking miracle that games even can work as well as this with that sort of graphics level, before learning some (veery) basic programming i found bad games bad, but now when looking at even bad games all i can see is how long some things would've taken and i appreciate it. things like sonic unleashed, i feel shouldnt be bashed because everywhere you look there is painstaking effort in this game, 15 km long stages? check. new game engine? check. CGI movie lighting replica? check. so much effort goes into something like this. also i'm actually really hoping this game will rawk balls in the end as far as a finished product, been looking forwards to this since the first trailer.

Why is it we always get a second rate or delayed version of everything? I mean surely by now developers must know how to program for the PS3?

This is how the industry treats the last place.... Sad, but true.

Fond of Sonic since the Genesis/Megadrive times. Has a ton of Sonic games on all kinds of plateform, even rare stuff.
Played Unleashed two weeks ago. Opinion? Pure crap. You won't miss it.
Haohmaru @ Nov 18th 2008 8:56AM
I need a demo before deciding whether or not this game will be worth playing. I don't trust the opinions of others - especially the commenters on Joystiq network. No offense, guys. :P
rvkremer @ Nov 18th 2008 9:08AM
I think it's safe to say we all pray Sonic Team and Sega will be inspired by the sick success of Mega Man 9 and create a PSN/Wiiware/XBLA Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
They won't, but still...
RPG! @ Nov 18th 2008 9:21AM
That would be great. 16-bit graphics and music would be fantastic for a Sonic sequel.
pat1202003 @ Nov 18th 2008 11:58AM
Well I knew it was delayed, but I hope during this delay they are working on trophies. I been hearing that there will be no trophy, and there better be some on there for me to almost wait a month!
Casanova @ Nov 18th 2008 1:31PM
I may actually know the reason for the delay. It's got nothing to do with any work being done to the game. Mainly because the game is already completed. It's more likely due to whats happening in Japan right now. The Japan version of this game (entitled Sonic World Adventure) has been delayed across the board until the start of 2009. The reason for this as Sega have said, is nothing to do with technical issues, so much as it's to do with their marketing campaign.
Sega do not want Unleashed out in Japan at the same time as the western markets due to their title clashing with various other titles that they plan on releasing.
In the west it's a similar thing. You may have noticed that Sega recently released another very big game for their Winter 08 season by the name of Valkyria Chronicles? Whilst the game is out, the problem is that they've not yet maximised potential sales due to Unleashed's original release. Combine that with the fact that Unleashed is a multi format title with only the wii and PS2 version being different to the other machines and that Unleashed was in primary development for the Xbox 360, it's been delayed to December to maximise potential sales on the Xbox 360, which Sega do not really have a big game out this month, and to then mazimise potential sales for the PS3 after the people who bought Valkyria Chronicles have some more spending power...
At least thats what I think they're doing anyway.

Im sensing that microsoft showed sega their hypnotizing cha-CHING$$$$ to delay the ps3 version.
