Job listing suggests Star Trek Online heading to PS3

Job advertisements are often a useful source of information and this listing for Cryptic Studios is no exception. It seems the Star Trek Online developer is looking for some PS3 coding talent to get their MMO engine running nicely on the system. if Star Trek Online (or any other Cryptic properties) are coming to the PS3 then they're the latest in a long line of MMOs that we've been promised for the system.

Between NC Soft's announcement of bringing games to the platform in mid-2007 and SOE's numerous offerings, such as DC Universe Online and The Agency, we've yet to see a single one released. Still, variety is the spice of life and we're happy to hear that there's a chance Star Trek Online will be heading PS3wards. Think you can make it happen? Apply at Cryptic Studios' official website.

I like star trek but i hate movie/tvserie games even if its an online world.

Also...PS3 you should be ashame!!! Its youre birthday (days ago) and you got no gift for you...(we). just to remind you the 360 is having a party with his NXE.... damn you sony! release home beta now! even if its for quore subscribers. Dont let me down sony!

Suprised me that the Cryptic devs didn't target the PS3 first for an console MMO. As the only console with virtually every system having the harddrive space to support an continually updating MMO they are a natural fit (ok, so the 20GB systems might be a bit pained, especially if you have a couple of other games installed).

I just laugh every time I see "SOE" in print. They could have abbreviated Sony Online as "S.O.L."

I was somewhat engaged about this for PC but with a PS3 possibility in the works, my expectations are warped.

Never seen a single episode or movie of Star Trek but I will say that this game looks pretty promising... if not Ultima Online with Star Trek skins. looks better than then the new old republic game imo.

I'll wait for the Star Trek/Star Wars crossover MMO, what's that, it ain't happening, well now that I mention it, the word is out and when it happens, remember this is where it all started. btw typing is fun.

The new movie "STAR TREK" (a reboot that chronicles the early years of the originally cast of characters, eg. Kirk and Spock) and is being directed by JJ ABRAMS.
