New PS3 ads pop up all over Tokyo train stations
It's not surprising to see Sony placing PS3 advertisements in a place like Shibuya Station for the company has been making the Tokyo metro station tours for a long time now. Shibuya, a high traffic destination with ties to trendy youth culture, seems to be a plausible locale for such advertisements. IGN's Anoop Gantayat, who took the recent photos of the ads, has translated the slogans and posted them on a personal blog.
Here's a breakdown of what each one says. The all-caps words represent the over-sized characters in each poster. Clockwise from the top left:

They seem so empty, it's okay more ad campaigning for Sony.
Sweet.

Good job Sony ;]

Just like their video game cases, Japan's video game posters are so much cooler than what the U.S. gets.

I want that Solid Snake poster!

I'd take the MGS and the FFXIII in a hearbeat. Sony should use simple "game" oriented print ads like this in every major US city as well.
Very classy ads.

I know its just an ad in Japan, but if anyone finds an actual image of that MGS4 poster please let me know.
I want a poster of it so bad.
MBO @ Nov 19th 2008 6:43PM
For the people wondering, the words above sackboy mean imagination and the words on the FFXIII poster mean courage.
I can't read Japanese, but some words are incredibly similar to some mandarin words, which i can read some.
MBO @ Nov 19th 2008 6:44PM

The blue shirt guy holding the PS3 says
"Intelligence, and Sensibility
Girl hugging PS3 says:
Interest, is deep and broad
C'mon guys! These are basic Japanese sentences!
burandon @ Nov 19th 2008 11:03PM
I'd translate the girl's as
ENJOYMENT--the depth and breadth
or maybe even FUN; "interest" doesn't convey as much the feeling of enjoyment that they're trying to give ^^

That's basically what I said! Anyhoo, Japanese can be translated into English in so many ways. I've been living here in Japan half my life and I still think this language is a farce.
vir1980 @ Nov 19th 2008 7:00PM
ohhhh, i want that final fantasy poster :-)
it soooo coool!
higeki @ Nov 19th 2008 7:03PM
Remember, these ads are in Japan. This is how Japanese aesthetic is. Simple, miminalistic, yet effective. This is what they're accustomed to, and not loud, obnoxious American ads.
BlingOnMyWrist @ Nov 19th 2008 7:19PM
Hah, seems like the US is unimportant.
Gambit07 @ Nov 19th 2008 7:47PM
The FF13 one should say "The COURAGE to dumb down to fit in DVD9", ohh yes I went there.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 19th 2008 10:29PM
There needs to be one with Jack Tretton on it that says, "No RROD b1tches!
anda @ Nov 20th 2008 1:42AM
