Really, Sony's promising more PSone games. Really.
How many times have you played CoolBoarders? How 'bout Coolboarders 2? That's pretty much all you'll find on the PlayStation Store if you're looking for a PS1 retro fix. While Japan has an overwhelming of retro titles available for download, the rest of the world has been slow to follow suit. Wouldn't it be nice to download Final Fantasy VII? Or Klonoa? Or Metal Gear Solid? There's so many titles we can think of off the top of our heads.Well, John Koller is promising the situation will change. Seriously. Really. "Yes, we are working on further PSone additions to the PS Store and should see those launch shortly," he told MTV Multiplayer.
We'll believe you when we see 'em, Koller.

About time!!!
massive_98 @ Nov 21st 2008 12:02AM
Of all the PS1 games I want Sony to make PS3 remakes for, Coolboarders tops the charts.
I don't think there is a better use for Sixaxis then for carving down mountains.
vahdyx @ Nov 21st 2008 11:12AM
I agree with Massive to an extent, the only ps1 games I care about is FF7 and various other rpg's.
I want ps2 games on PSN! Why can't they ps2 it?
Is it because not all ps3's can play ps2 games? emulated or not?
Andrew @ Nov 20th 2008 10:23PM
I think they missed a great opportunity when MSG4 and GTA4 and GT5P came out to release the PS1 versions a week or two before. I hope just before FF is released they release a PS1 version ofif (ff7 hopefully). I know i would've got GTA1 & 2, GT 1 & 2 and MGS before i got the PS3 versions.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Nov 21st 2008 12:26PM
exactly. and i doubt it would be that hard to do technically. the problems would come in when it got to the licensing and stuff. i remember how easy it was to put my copies of Gran Turismo 2 and Final Fantasy 7 on my PSP when i was running custom firmware (im back to official now), the process can't be much more intense than that other than just the testing part of it.
shane @ Nov 20th 2008 10:24PM
Metal Gear Solid has been on the Japanese Store for months .
rohan @ Nov 21st 2008 12:12AM
months ha i think not!!......
years yes
Fane @ Nov 21st 2008 6:41PM
@ rohan
You do realize that years include months? ;)
Devin @ Nov 20th 2008 10:25PM
What allows Sony Japan to have them, yet SCEA/SCEE can't?
Ben @ Nov 20th 2008 11:05PM
Japan doesn't require ESRB rating.
lennygundam14 @ Nov 21st 2008 3:31AM
"Japan doesn't require ESRB rating."
Uh, Japan Has a Rating System. its called the CERO rating system, its just like the ESRB system. The reason why SCEJ is able to bring PS1 games to the PSN is because they talk to 3rd party Devs to give them permission to bring them.
horrorist @ Nov 20th 2008 10:26PM
i dont understand why everyone want more psone in the ps store,i already have all those game, metal gear, final, resident evil and im sure im not the only one who got those
and the other game they gonna put are some game that basicly arent worth anyone time, there a couple game i would buy from the store if they were there but i know they wont put those, anyway its still a good thing for sony but for me its not driving me wild
MATT @ Nov 20th 2008 10:34PM
I want them to play on my PSP.
Kattleox @ Nov 20th 2008 10:39PM
Yeah, SRSLY. Didn't you read that article the other day about how 52% of PS3 owners have PSPs or something like that? I would LOVE to have my entire PSOne library on my PSP. FFVII, Metal Gear, and even Medal of Honor.
They did that one week thing with Warhawk, too, by the by.
DrunkRaba @ Nov 20th 2008 10:47PM
I didn't get into RPG's until the end of the PS2 cycle a year or two before the PS3 launch making it so I can scarcely even find many of the past great RPG's that the PS1 had. I loved Wild Arms that I was able to play, because they made it downloadable. Stores don't sell PS1 games anymore.
lobotomies4free @ Nov 21st 2008 7:56AM
I played on PC in those days so when driver 2 came out only on the console I lost out. My copy of the original Tenchu is dead now too so....
Dehshizknight @ Nov 21st 2008 8:06AM
You could always do Remote Play...
If you don't have internet then, yes, PSOne downloads are needed. I would like some, too...
Hoffer @ Nov 20th 2008 10:27PM
I'm personally not itching for any PS1 titles, but Sony is really missing out here. The PS3 already plays PS1 games. All they have to do is put images of these games up on their system. It's like free money for them.
Haohmaru @ Nov 20th 2008 10:33PM
Suikoden and Suikoden II, please.
ultimateidiot911 @ Nov 20th 2008 10:35PM
Digimon World pleaseeeee?

Ranben @ Nov 20th 2008 10:41PM
Give me my Tomba! and I will be happy.
Ollin @ Nov 21st 2008 12:09AM
Thank goodness I still got my copy of Tomba, that game was the SHIZZLE.
Deadpool @ Nov 20th 2008 10:42PM
Tomba! Tomba! TOMBA!
I don't wanna pay $100 dollars for it on ebay.
Reuben @ Nov 20th 2008 10:46PM
Yeah...okay.
chililili @ Nov 20th 2008 10:47PM
Just saying I would buy FFIX on the PStore instead of getting it in an emulator if it was available.
gillyy0 @ Nov 20th 2008 10:49PM
Put MGS in there and any FF and they'll surely be getting money from me.
AdamB of the Mormons @ Nov 20th 2008 10:54PM
ditto with gillyy especially ff 7 and 8. my disc broke for 7........ sad day that was. but im so pumped for it!!!!
BigBlak @ Nov 21st 2008 12:37AM

josh @ Nov 20th 2008 10:55PM
This ladies and gentlemen is why people turn to emulation.
HardBoiled2009 @ Nov 20th 2008 10:56PM
i know one game i would love too see on their that is rare to find " Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together " made by Atlus or another company but Atlus brought it to North America with so many copy's ..THEN SquareSuck bought them out so i doubt we will ever see it over here cause THAT ..... would be day one purchase for me
PSN: Erdie @ Nov 20th 2008 10:57PM
One can only hope.
Tez @ Nov 20th 2008 10:59PM

Maverick Saturn @ Nov 20th 2008 11:00PM
Good, cos I wanna play Silent Hill, the only GOOD ones, I wanna play bloody Tomba and GDarius, Resident Evil, Abes Exodus, Spyro!! Tenchu, Omega Boost, Dino Crisis :O And heck loads of others, hurry up Sony.
LittleBigFan @ Nov 21st 2008 7:23AM
Spyro is already up and has been for a while
Maverick Saturn @ Nov 21st 2008 10:01AM
Well if that was true, I'd be able to hop over to the EU store and download it now, so unless I've gone Spyro blind, its not there, its in the US store, and god knows why its not in the EU store, but it's not.
darzero @ Nov 20th 2008 11:01PM
last tuesday, resident evil director's cut made a brief apparition on psn. I bought it, download it, but its not working. check back today and its not there anymore. my guess, its gonna come back next week, fully functionnal. 6,99$ cnd and playable only on psp.
johngalt42 @ Nov 20th 2008 11:25PM
I really want Vib Ribbon and the original soundtrack. Name your price and I'll gladly pay it!

perestroika @ Nov 20th 2008 11:48PM
i want silent hill. i almost bought a used copy at a gamestop like place, but the cd was too scratched when i opened the case. and it made me cry :(
the only ps1 games i'd like to get are resident evil 3, heart of darkness and silent hill. dont really care much for ps1 games...
now if they did the same but with ps2 games, man, it would be the coolest thing :D i guess one can dream...
rohan @ Nov 21st 2008 12:13AM
if this can be done it will push the greatness of the ps3 over the edge think of the possibilities!!
Come Get Me!!! @ Nov 21st 2008 12:41AM
i just want xenogears...please????
Kspraydad @ Nov 21st 2008 12:52AM
I read somewhere that it was 15000$ to get an ESRB rating...so these rare titles might not ever come as overcoming this cost might not be possible for SONY.
Paulmichael @ Nov 21st 2008 2:58AM
Pretty sure that's false, as the ESRB is a non-profit.
fiziks @ Nov 21st 2008 3:32AM
nah, he's right... they gotta pay...
fiziks @ Nov 21st 2008 3:37AM
probably not 15k though ($800 min. to $4k max.), it has to do with how much the development costs and for a game that was rated once before it may vary even more so -.. who knows, just happy to be seeing some old favorites..
brickwalker0 @ Nov 21st 2008 1:02AM
WTB Megaman Legends
Martin hald @ Nov 21st 2008 1:06AM
I don't care, really. Ps1 games isn't that much fun. Maybe people return to these games because of the nostalgia about it?
But I, personally, see no reason to buy these games.
Lard @ Nov 21st 2008 1:13AM
Sorry Sony.
When you refused to publish the Suikoden 1 and 2 compilation for PSP that Japan was allowed to have.....you lost me.
I will use custom firmware to play the PS1 games I own.
Don't give me what I want? Screw you.
libregkd @ Nov 21st 2008 1:38AM
Would definitely like to see MGS...seeing as my copy is scratched and unplayable ._.
But seriously, there are some PS1 games that I never got around to playing, and now since its so long, the prices are either ridiculously high or the game is near impossible to find.
