Awesome new PSP ad campaign highlights urban appeal
Well, looks like Sony hasn't given up on the PSP entirely quite yet. They're launching a new ad campaign, which highlights the PSP's mobility in various cities throughout the country. It's a visually effective ad that certainly got our interest.

It's a rather good start imo. Hopefully this will pave the way for the great games coming stateside like Phantasy Star Portable + MH:2nd G. I would really like to see Sony show off some of the PS3 & PSP synergy as well w/ the new Ad-Hoc party in their commercials, but so far GJ keep up the good work!

Those ads were kind of disturbing. Why was that guy playing a PSP everywhere instead of hanging out with his friends and playing basketball or talking to that lady over coffee?
Spam @ Nov 22nd 2008 4:18AM
Maybe that's partly what the ad was trying to get across? That the PSP is in fact better than socializing?

its exxageration. The guy let go of his psp for a second when talking to the woman. They probably super fastforwarded that part to focus on the PSP. and who knows, maybe the guys just a good multitasker.

I love my PSP, but I dislike how Sony market the handheld as the console of choice for the 'urban cool.' It always comes off as so false and forced.
I prefer 90s commercials.

I thought that "urban" was the acceptable way to say "black people," or at least referring to things black people like, and white people love things that black people are supposed to like.
......I often wonder if "black culture" is just an elaborate joke on dumb white people.

Something may have been lost in translation. I meant urban as in clubbers, ravers, the nightlife and all that. You know, what we all do every weekend.
But I do agree that for some the word urban is shorthand for black, and it is used in a terribly condescending way by some.
As for black culture; black culture, as viewed through the mainstream media lens, is a joke, the greatest joke ever conceived. There's no such thing as black culture mainly because what is often defined as culture is actually finely tuned products for the masses. A shitty Usher CD is not culture; a Chris Rock tv special is not culture; a raving black preacher is not an example of culture; they're just packaged products.
The same thought process can be applied to any other race group, or any other artificial grouping one may wish to bring up.

Well good or bad just be thankful you get some ads & that Sony is finally trying to promote the psp. Coz i live in New Zealand & have had a psp since its launch, but am yet to see a single psp ad on tv here.

These ads are the worse for the psp to date.
Here is hoping they reach whoever their target market was...

Sony should have taken the money from this ad campaign and used it to put out Loco Roco 2 for this holiday season in NA.
Games are ultimately what moves game machines, not ad campaigns. Even if they sell the hardware, what games do they expect people to buy? I guess older games, but this then makes people think it's normal for PSP games to be $10-20, and they will balk when a full priced game comes out...

Umm... aren't these pretty much the same type of ads as the "Take Me Out" commercials from that ancient year of 2005?
Oh wait.. these new ones are like the "Take Me Out" ads reversed, but still the same idea, only less interesting. Yay.
