Yakuza 3 trailer filled with mini-games
Yakuza 3 is one of the most anticipated games in Japan right now. Looking at the trailer, we can see why. This is one of the most authentic recreations of Japanese urban life we've seen so far -- akin to GTAIV's recreation of NYC. The Yakuza series has been known for its quirky gameplay, and the amount of sidequests and mini-games featured in this PS3 exclusive title is staggering. Hopefully, it won't take Sega too long to bring this title to the US. (Let's not forget that Yakuza 2 has taken nearly two years to localize.)

If I can say "You F*ckin' F*ckface!" to just anyone, I'd bee so~ happy!
Saffie @ Nov 21st 2008 2:42PM
I'm confused. I thought Yakuza 3 takes place during the 1600s and Japan's Edo era.
TinyTim121 @ Nov 21st 2008 2:45PM
Meh
Just thank f*ck it isn't set back then!
KiraXD @ Nov 21st 2008 2:52PM
that wasnt considered a direct Yakuza 3 game... it was a spin off..
Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!, which is actually the third Yakuza game in the franchise, but not actually Yakuza 3.
Ayrkain @ Nov 21st 2008 2:53PM
That was a side-story actually, called Ryu-Ga-Gotoku: Kenzan. This is Ryu-Ga-Gotoku 3.
Haohmaru @ Nov 21st 2008 3:49PM
As others have already said, you're thinking of the spinoff. To be honest, I'd rather have that game - though I do admit this one looks pretty badass.
Juan San @ Nov 21st 2008 3:35PM
you are very confused
Will @ Nov 21st 2008 2:47PM
Evolution of Shenmue?
btw, I LOVED that game...
Levi @ Feb 7th 2009 1:00PM
I never got to play Shenmue. I think I ditched my Dreamcast before it came to the US. Always felt like I missed out :(
It was ported to PS2, right? With the lack of backwards compatibility in my PS3 model, I hardly EVERY hook up my PS2 to play older games though. I'm thinking about finding a 60gb model on Craigslist and swapping my 40gb for it just for the BC. Or maybe an 80gb, so the hardware is current.
Evi1d33d @ Nov 21st 2008 2:51PM
The graphics look okay, it lack contrast. Let's hope SEGA would be smart this time and get the translation process started during the development of the game. Like the worldwide release from MGS4.
Bobby @ Nov 22nd 2008 2:07AM
it looks cool. however when it comes over 2 america I can gurantee you that it will become a 360 game also and than people will not be so much interested.
mixelmagic @ Nov 22nd 2008 10:30PM
That's not how "guarantee" works.. You're confusing it with baseless speculation. ;)
You think they'd bother porting Yakuza to 360 if they dont anticipate it doing that great in the West anyway? We'll be lucky to get a localisation at all, they aren't going to invest months of time porting something for no reason.
There's a good reason it's PS3 exclusive; despite a few hiccups lately the PS3 is still a massively bigger install base in japan, and this is going to sell astronomically well there. Here it would be a niche thing at best.
LordAbsu @ Nov 21st 2008 3:39PM
The pervert beatdown was choice.
Frozen2kX @ Nov 21st 2008 3:40PM
RYU GA GOTOKU!
RYU GA GOTOKU!!
RYU GA GOTOKU!!!
I just cant wait for this game. The first 2 was so awesome. The story the presentation the brutality. I just can't get enough of it.
I don't know why they just cant just translate everything in english and subtitles without voice overs and have a choice on the main menu to play in japanese or english. The 2nd game came out just like that and I can't believe it took them 2 years to release it.
kentuckyfried @ Nov 21st 2008 6:28PM
It would be relatively easy for them to do this, but some executives seem to think (and maybe this really is true) that American gamers don't like having to read subtitles and *prefer* dubs!! And this is unfortunate b/c Japanese voice actors are typically several magnitudes better than the American ones, plus as a result, alot of games from Japan never make it to the states for this reason.
Let's just hope this doesn't happen to Yakuza 3. It's like GTA...but way more fun than just driving around in a damn car.
geogaddi @ Nov 21st 2008 3:58PM
Can you drive cars in this game?
smoothsake @ Nov 21st 2008 3:59PM
a guaranteed import - this game looks solid
Lard @ Nov 21st 2008 5:21PM
If North America doesn't get this game, I'm selling my PS3. I'm sick of PS3 multi-platform titles.
CJLopez @ Nov 21st 2008 6:05PM
A PS3 game pulling a Wii over here??? Niiiice
I'll be sure to pick up this game, GTA in Japan is awesome!!!!! And the schoolgirl beatdown is what I always been asking when looking at all those sharking videos out there!!!!!! (they know karate, why not beat the crap out of em?)
hpdedriver @ Nov 21st 2008 6:07PM
Will this have a "Hot Coffee" mini game too?
Hussain @ Nov 21st 2008 8:56PM
ooooh oh oh my oh CUMING!!!!
higeki @ Nov 21st 2008 10:00PM
YeS!! They have MATSU-YA and PRONTO! Two of my favorite establishments here in Japan. They even threw in Don Quijote!
Light @ Nov 23rd 2008 10:52AM
Damn!!!!!!!!! What a great game! Can't wait.
hater06 @ Nov 23rd 2008 2:40PM
damn.... sluts!!
EMaster @ Nov 25th 2008 5:46PM
This game is one of the reasons I bought a PS3 as I am a huge fan of the first two. BTW anyone seen the thatrical japanese movie? Pretty good but someone who never finished the first game game would be lost watching it.
Rewes @ Feb 6th 2009 4:05PM
I want Shenmue 3 !!! I guess in the mean time this will have to do.
