GH: World Tour drums now work in Rock Band 2, thanks to patch

Indeed, the fruit of that labor is now evident with the recently released v1.01 patch. An MTV Games/Harmonix spokesperson had this statement: "We have been actively working with Sony to develop a software solution to correct the interoperability issue with the Guitar Hero: World Tour drum and guitar peripherals on PS3 and are pleased to announce that this solution is going live today. In addition, the patch will also address some rare crashes and minor issues that were brought to our attention."

This is great.. So if i purchase GHWT with a single guitar will I be able to use RB peripherals with GH?
Rick @ Nov 24th 2008 7:48PM
yes! everything is compatible with everything now! go buy it!! =]
Apmaddock @ Nov 25th 2008 7:48AM
. . . also, be sure to set the sensitivity properly. Too high or too low could leave you with issues.
Apmaddock @ Nov 25th 2008 7:51AM
Oops, sorry. That was meant to go with -jr-'s comment number 6.
AamirZing @ Nov 24th 2008 7:55PM
That's nice information for people who are lucky enough to have RB2, but us UK people have to wait for the stupid XBOX 360 to have their 6 month exclusivity until it gets released here (according to a GAME salesperson).
Where's the compatibility for RB1? Harmonix and EA are making out it never existed, they only seem to care about RB2. Which the UK clearly don't have yet for PS3
rohan @ Nov 24th 2008 8:54PM
6 months that seems like a lot!! but hey on the bright side u will not have to wait for a patch for the kits (if u want to call it a bright side)
Christian @ Nov 26th 2008 9:03AM
Do what I did. Buy GHWT instead. Nothing sends a better message about how stupid those 6 Months delays are than people buying the competitors product instead.
ImpurePhoen1x @ Nov 24th 2008 7:47PM
Sweet, i was torn between getting the RB2 set or the WT set since the Rb2 set has complete cross functionality but now this patch changes things, WT set here i come

Still no fix for the shaky arrow for vocals.
Apmaddock @ Nov 25th 2008 7:46AM
Shaky arrow, eh? Here's my fix: learn how to sing.
Fane @ Nov 25th 2008 6:08PM
@ Apmaddock
There's a glitch that happens sometimes where the arrow goes haywire and it won't register accurately (I got 15-20% lower than I normally do on that song, so I know it wasn't me). It may be a result of mic (in)sensitivity, but all the other songs I did that night worked normally.
mooseinabox @ Nov 24th 2008 8:22PM
This is awesome! I was really disappointed when I heard GHWT Drums wouldn't work with RB2, but now that I know they work, I'm super happy! WHooo!
Sleva @ Nov 24th 2008 8:36PM
Does RB1 drums work with GHWT, if so, how with 1 less drum pad???
Majed Athab @ Nov 24th 2008 8:39PM
yes, RB1 and 2 drums work in GH:WT. We answered that in the weekend column:
http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/11/08/ask-ps3-fanboy-volume-11/
GH:WT supports RB drums by automatically remapping the songs to use only four pads instead of five.
essentis @ Nov 24th 2008 10:19PM
GH World Tour mike still doesn't work with Singstar game. Hope they fix this next....
TheOutsider @ Nov 24th 2008 11:01PM
Does anyone know if or when they are going to patch RB1, RB2 is not out in Aus yet
nakedatthecomp @ Nov 24th 2008 11:13PM
... now make my RB guitar work with GH3!!!
Apmaddock @ Nov 25th 2008 7:47AM
Yes!!! . . . not to mention GH, GH2, GH 80s. . .
iamkid @ Nov 25th 2008 12:20AM

This patch bricked my blue ray drive... It asked me if I wanted to update, I chose no and since my sytem can't read any discs cd DVD Bly ray. I have a 60 gig backwards compatable ps3
Randy @ Dec 2nd 2008 11:49AM
Will the GHWT drums work on RB1 as well now?
Heseltine @ Dec 2nd 2008 5:12PM
Unfortunately no, and from what I gather from the Rockband forums, Harmonix has no intentions of getting the GHWT drums to work with Rock Band 1. Which is too bad as RB2 isn't out yet in Europe. So I won't buy either.
redman @ Jan 6th 2009 10:31AM
i dont understand how can they make ghwt drums compatible with rockband2? the drum set has two cymbals and three "drums" but rb2 has four "drums" and no cymbals. hows that gonna work?
Blake @ Jan 15th 2009 3:31PM
Majed Athab if you read the article you put it clearly says However, Guitar Hero: World Tour's drums do not work in both Rock Band 1 & 2.
So can anybody confirm that it actually plays for both games using the GT: World Tour drums?
johncenakman @ Feb 6th 2009 6:10PM
Is it the same for Xbox? or do GH drums not work on Rock Band?
