Sony calls '2009 corporate plans' info leak a rumor

The rumored content suggests that Sony is making plans for a PS3 price cut in March 2009. Also of note, PSP versions of key PS3 titles such as LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm were said to be shown at the briefing. Even better still, Uncharted 2 and God of War III were also apparently shown with U2 looking much like the first Uncharted and GoW3 just amazing the Hades out of the informant. Noting that reliable David Jaffe also recently saw GoW3 footage and talked a bit about it, then perhaps there might be some merit to these rumors after all.

I hope people dont wait until march now to make a ps3 purchase. That would be silly but you know people will be saying it now come on it was worth 600 when i got one and its definetly worth 400 today.

That fact that Jaffe saw GoW3 doesn't mean these rumors are true. It's quite likely that they included that info to make the info -look- true.

But Jaffe only talked about seeing GoWIII *after* this rumour went out. He confirmed that a trailer of GoWIII is being shown internally, and that it's graphics looked CGI-like, thereby giving strong evidence that this rumour is true.
Also, an SCEE employee (only a game tester, but all employees were invited to the conference) confirmed it all on NeoGaf too.

I hope those "technological innovations" include persistent voice chat, in-game access to music for all ps3 and psn games, and multiple data album editing.
Hopefully in Uncharted 2, Drake will have a persistent lasso to allow for a less linear platforming experience, a cover system that allows you to stay covered when going around corners like 8 days does, and a multiplayer component.

Like 8 days does? So we're asking for features from cancelled games now?
And go ahead and give up on the custom XMB music for all games, it's technically impossible. The devs have to lock their music audio stream to a specific place during development so the XMB can hijack that channel.

I know you may hate the idea of in-game access to music for all ps3 games. It'll make it just that much better when it happens. How did it make you feel once trophies were made mandatory? All Sony has to do is fix the in-game xmb or force developers to put it in after a certain date as was done with trophies.

There going to be price cut on the PS3 in UK this year.
VAT (sales tax) which is now 17.5% is going to become 15%

An SCEE employee of NeoGaf confirmed this information as well. He didn't actually going to the conference himself (he skipped it), but the other people he worked with were talking about it.

Its nice to know this, but this really sucks for Sony, this a major leak that should be addressed, basically their major plan for 2009 has been revealed and competitors can now act accordingly. From a company man point of view this is almost a worst case scenario.

I take it you never read "The Time Machine". they weren't zombies but yeah, they were scary and initially when they first appeared that was awesome. all up until the final fight with the "pirate" it kinda made it seem anti-climactic that you end with a fist fight when you just got off an island filled with monsters.

Lol like always sony, keep your words like a man!!! NO price cut means no price cut. I dont get why they need to do that? did the 360 cut the price on elite? noooo they just trow a console with less things.
Ps3 for $199 = No HDD, no bluray, no wifi just lan, 1 usb port and no bluetooth. There!!! a console worth that price.

Not true if they some how bring back the 20 gig sku then it is doable, look at the 80 gig $400, I cant see why a 20 gig with everything the 80 gig has for @200 is not possible, if that happens, woohooo!!

Oh wow, a PS3 without Blu-ray...how useless.
And in case you don't know, PS3 games are on Blu-ray disks. Basically you're idea of a cheap PS3 is one that can't play disk-based games or downloadable games without the addition of a harddrive.
And no Bluetooth? Wow, so you can't use controllers either...

You got me all wrong. I was been sarcastic about it.
360 got a supposed price cut but it was a hardware cut so they make a $199 console, right? If people want a ps3 thats worth the $199 they need to take everything thats good in it to be that price.
I know ps3 games run on discs
I know it needs HDD

The magicians at Microsoft's marketing department have somehow convinced the majority of people that multiplat games only come out on the 360...

I DONT CARE ABOUT UNCHARTED!! Uncharted was one of the best playing and best looking games I have ever played. With that said however, I would much prefer another Jak & Daxter game over an Uncharted. The sooner you guys make another J&D game the better. Sorry but J&D was essentially the main reason I bought a PS2. Then I realised there was much more but still. I want another J&D before another Uncharted. Just my opinion though....

I can see why they wouldn't do a Jak game (but I'm sure they will). One because platformers are almost done with IN THE MAINSTREAM, two because Ratchet & Clank is coming next fall, and three because the majority of people that bought Uncharted want an Uncharted 2 before a Jak. Even PS3Fanboy did a poll on this and the results were in favor of Uncharted 2.

It really does upset me how Microshaft make it look like multiplat games are only on Xbox. It's completely in defiance of fair trading, it's like "suggested" false advertising, cleverly worded to avoid actual false advertising.
From the same company that is essentially tricking the mums out there into buying their product for their kids, knowing full well that they will be picking up an Arcade to save the pennies and will end up needing...
Controller charger units
Wifi unit
HDD Upgarde (expensive Microshaft one)
Online registration
on top.
I really disapprove of Microshafts business model for the 360. It's one con after the other, misleading potential users.
Worst thing is that people are missing out on the brilliant PS3 and all of it's benefits, when an Xbox of the same level would cost about the same anyway!
