Was the original date changed? When I preordered it back in October or so, the date was Jan 20. Did they move it up since then, and now move it back?

Why couldn't the same artist for SO: First Departure draw the characters for Second Evolution? I mean, Claude is supposed to be a young adult and not being a 16 year old little prick. Ungh! I didn't mean to cry about, but the artist for this game should be fired. Poor Rena... looks like she is only 10 or 12 years old in this remake.

Excuse my n00bness, but is 2nd Evolution a remake of 1st departure? Do I need to play 1st departure or are they different games?

Second Evolution is the sequel, but doesn't directly relate, inasmuch as it's a self-contained, separate game. One of the two main characters, Claud, is the son of a main character from the first, but that really isn't a huge plot point. Not knowing Claud's dad won't seriously affect your enjoyment of Second Evolution.
That was my experience playing the original Star Ocean: Second Story on PS way back, anyway. The only thing affecting my enjoyment was the craptastic translation, which apparently has been (thankfully) fixed.

Ugh... Because of Star Ocean 3, whenever I think about Star Ocean games, they make me feel like I'm drowning.
