Killzone 2 beta ends this Sunday

The Killzone 2 public beta is drawing to an end this weekend. Guerrilla will use this final phase of testing to implement tweaks and features from feedback received during the beta test. For example, the Revive ability and Shotgun range will be changed before the game launches next year.

There's still no word on when a Killzone 2 demo will be available. However, stay tuned as we'll have impressions of the full game in December.

really? damn. I don't want to hear that. I'm really hyped for this game, and i never got the beta invite. I did get resistance beta invite, and that's what guaranteed my purchase.

oh time to marathon run the beta this week. Love the beta tired of playing the same 3 maps cant wait for the full game.

This one actually wasn't like the other "betas" this was a proper beta where the beta testers gave proper feedback to the developers, had a place to talk privatly to other testers and the developers.

Yeah, the LBP beta was more of a sneak-peak/hype-booster vs. an actual form of feedback....

Maybe they were just trying to test the serves...idk....

gutted there are a few ppl who say they didnt like it much
but what i don't get is that you called it a demo, and that you only left feedback for R2 because you want in more betas, did you get in the kz2 beta? :S

The Little Big Planet Beta was for hype but a lot of these Betas are supposed to be for testing servers as well to test stability. There's only so many people you can hire to sit in an office building and test a server, and besides it really doesn't give any sort of real world results as well as people actually connecting to the servers from their homes and making sure that it doesn't cause a ton of extra glitches and bugs.

Example Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle cars. They now know that if someone has a bad connection the stuff goes out of control and becomes unplayable yet they have no issues playing. A beta test could have helped them on that but then again it is a downloadable (great one) title.

This game wasn't even on my radar before but there have been a few claims lately that seem to put a lot of weight on KZ2's shoulders.

I just got off it, but now i'm heading back downstairs for another session, this will be pretty much all i play for the rest of the week. It's great to play some multiplayer shootours after Dead (awesome) Space, which i completed a few days ago.

You know I think one thing they don't make clear when you get these beta emails is tell you where to go to provide feedback. You kind of have to figure out yourself that there "must be a forum" or the like to submit this info in a controlled manor

Well, they'll be previewing the game in Dec. That's when the NDA is lifted.

The game itself has been all but finished since about October, but its release was pushed back to Feb 09 so that it wouldn't further clog up the Christmas period, and so it and Resistance 2 wouldn't cannibalise each others sales.

They've just been polishing the hell out of that baby for the past few months: improving framerate drops, fine tuning the online experience, bug testing, etc. etc.

So are you saying they are allowing you to basically review the game in December? That seems so strange. If it's far enough along to allow reviews, why isn't it coming out until Feb?

Because it would underperform sales-wise if it did, and would lower the sales of other PS3 titles (Resistance 2, in particular).

People only have so much money to spend on buying games. ;)

I wasn't really a fan of the first Killzone, but I really think that this game has potential to make people do "the switch" from COD4(Many people still play it) to Killzone 2.

Man, I have this beta and have not got to play it yet. Every time I try to connect to a server something goes wrong, I know it's not my connection because I play tones of games online. WTF!?

I should probably jump in for a few rounds before Sunday. I've been too busy with R2 since I know that I won't touch it after February.

Quick question (this is my first beta invite outside of Home): do the ranks and stats carry over from the beta to the full release?
