Japan offers virtual hamster game to download
Have you ever wanted a randomly generated hamster living in your PSP? Well, you might want one now! One look at this adorable screenshot may warm your heart and convince you to get one for your handheld. This will be a download-exclusive game ...
But of course, with all things PSP-related, this one is relegated to Japan only for now. Hamster Channel will be available for 2800 yen. Hopefully, someone will localize this not-too-hard-to-localize project. Perhaps Ubisoft? They can call it Hamsterz.

How about we keep Ubisoft's shovelware off the PSP?
(:

How about they just get games on PSN. Damn, when we gonna get anything new? (besides everyday shooter/stardust portable) Com'on Capcom, show me sum PS1, Resident Evil love!!!
Shoyz @ Dec 1st 2008 10:43PM
I don't see why they can't just release a ton of PSN network games at once. Aside from permission from the creators of the games, what's holding them back?
Instead of waiting, just play your own backup EBOOTs. Screw waiting (:

Looks cute. I'm sure my GF would love it. And as a little, miscelaneous and cheap download, it'd be kinda fun.
I say, localize it :)
(Localize some more japanese games on the way as well, we're missing some really great stuff here)

I don't know if it's the PSP drought or the fact that I'm half tanked but God help me, I want that.

Maybe people don't understand the exchange rate, but when has a $30 hamster simulation ever been considered a "cheap" download?
$5 or $10, MAYBE....
cafecito @ Dec 2nd 2008 1:11AM
You can't seriously consider a direct exchange to be accurate for a western pricing. Everything is way more expensive in Japan.
Zippon @ Dec 2nd 2008 4:21AM
Of course not. But the only price I see in front of me is approx $30 USD.
Besides, the difference in game pricing isn't astronomical. I don't have the details in front of me, but a $40 game here might cost $50-55 there, right? That still puts this hamster simulation hypothetically around $20-25. Not cheap.

Why dont you just get a real Hamster
Dr Haisook @ Dec 2nd 2008 11:59AM
I actually like those virtual pets. But a hamster? that's too cute to me. I prefer a digitalized blocky thing, like Tamagotchi creatures.
