We've brought word previously that SOCOM: Confrontation was getting a 1.30 patch to fix a large set of bugs and add in tons of community-requested features, including Trophies. You can find a whole list of those changes here. However, the v1.30 patch will also be adding more than just the previously revealed content. The patch will also add in the ability to use the D-pad for the lean-in feature, instead of using the regular Sixaxis controls. Players can toggle between the two options in the middle of battle as seen in the clip above. Also featured in video (after the break), SCEA and Slant Six shows off the new transparent scoreboard.
However, there's still no mention of a release date for the v1.30 patch. Fans have been waiting for the patch since news first came out nearly a month ago, and hopefully, they won't have to wait much longer.
Hey, at least you've got the game! Although I guess I'm happy to continue waiting, hopefully by the time it drops in Aus I'll already have the headset so I can buy via the PSN, all the bugs and problems will be sorted out, and there'll be that early year game drought.
I really don't think there is going to be any drought.. Maybe in January, but February its packed with good games, so is March... We got tons of exclusives next year!! It's gonna be a good year..
Seriously, how hard was it just to leave the original feature in place instead using the gimmicky sixaxis. It's so hard to aim when you hand is twisted 90 degrees.
Anyways, back to Metal Gear Online with all its Japanese craziness.
These features should have been standard... I wonder why they decided to ship out a game that clearly wasn't ready. But as the above poster said, better late then never.
It's painfully obvious that they were trying to push the game out before the October/November rush of games, but that effort ended up blowing up in their face...
Fuuuuuuck. Why are so many broken games being released these days on every console out there? I'll buy at christmas only if they have the patch out and it actually works.
Maybe its me because I haven't played a socom game in forever till confrontation but I find the current experience to be enjoyable. I would say I even enjoy it more than COD.
Even if I'm' getting whooped I view it as just as a game. Well, hehe outside of the other day that is. See, I had a guy that was dropping me within a few shots (head shots). Mind you he would be some distance and he was using a silenced rifle. So I was sitting there trying to figure out if he was that good, or using some sort of glitches to his advantage.

No one put put an m16 to your head and told you to use it. If you don't like sixaxis, turn it off.
kentuckyfried @ Dec 1st 2008 11:11PM
Turning off sixaxis controls makes the lean default to D-pad?

because of the use of Storage space and quite a bit of consoles being connected to the internet........
why ship it with it work and delay the game when you can sell crap and fix it a few months after release with a patch??
debaser @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:08AM
Don't blame the devs, blame the Sony and their crappy marketing department that dictates when these games have to be released finished or not..
SONY has to give the final Quality Assurance Approval for any game, patch or add on to be released.
I bought my PS3 just to play the new Socom, but I wont be buying it until it is 100% playable.
C-Onor @ Dec 2nd 2008 11:27AM
wow.
that second video was impressive.
ha.
