Nathan Drake voice actor for Prince of Persia 'entirely intentional'

Did you notice the Prince in Ubisoft's new Prince of Persia game sounds exactly like Nathan Drake from Uncharted? In a Q&A on the PlayStation.blog, Ben Mattes said the selection of Nolan North was "entirely intentional." North's portrayal of a Indiana Jones-esque character in Uncharted landed him the role of the Prince. "When we were designing the character of The Prince and trying to identify his personality, the two characters we returned to most often were Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Both, of course, played by Harrison Ford. Nolan North showed in his characterization of Nathan Drake an uncanny resemblance to Indiana Jones both in terms of tone and delivery. We thought it particularly appropriate given the heavy influence of these characters in the writing of The Prince that the voice actor we use be one who manages to capture the essence of the influencing characters deeply."

With North returning in Uncharted 2 in the not-too-distant future, it seems like he has a pretty good voice acting career ahead of him. Prince of Persia will be available in stores this week.

I played the game in Spanish & English and both actor's were more than great.

I just hope the same actor that did Nathan voice in the first one returns for the sequel.

He's already done some fantastic voice acting work. Does anyone else remember him as the Adam Sandler looking modern day Altair in Assassin's Creed?

LOL! You should have researched that Andrew... Mr. North has been in tons of AAA games and animated movies. He has an awesome voice acting career already. :P

Talk about doing lots of game voice overs! Add to that random appearences in tv shows (NCIS, Ugly Betty, Dirty Sexy Money, CSI: Miami, Big Love) plus film (Deja Vu and some straight to video stuff). Crazy I never knew he was in so much stuff.

David Hayter doesn't really do a lot of voice work, atleast not anymore. He's a screenwriter who also does the voice of Solid Snake. Nolan North on the other hand is in tons of games.

Fun fact: Nolan North is actually in MGS4 as "Enemy Soldiers" and "MGO Soldiers".

i didn't know that! i knew about the modern altair thing. he has a great line up of work! mgs4, uncharted, assassin's creed, PoP...i would be satisfied if i only had those 4 games for my ps3 if i was stuck on a remote carribean island.

I was uber-psyched for this game until recently. Seeing as it's one-on-one based combat, and HEAVY on just acrobatics of moving around, I foresee the novelty wearing thin after you see some of the sites, "ohh" and "ahhh", and then get bored with the same similar combat over and over.

Canceled my pre-purchase and calling this one a rental.

I always thought that Nathan Drake was more Malcolm Reynolds than Indiana Jones.

Not that that's a bad thing. Actually, it's a very, very good thing.

Word, many people have always said that Nathan Fillion has got to play Drake in the movie. It'll probably never happen, and that's a real tragedy. I think his appearance was partially based on Fillion as well, they said they drew from several actors for his look, I think.
