Red Bull to be first company to charge into Home
The first third-party partner for Home, Sony's upcoming social networking platform, has been revealed. Revolution is reporting that Red Bull will have its own Home space, dedicated to the real-life Red Bull Air Race. The space will include "an aeroplane racing game based on Red Bull's real world Red Bull Air Race series."
The brand marketing manager for Red Bull UK, John Beasley, says "the game gave us the first opportunity to recreate in the gaming world what we try to do in the real world, which is to facilitate interaction, to give people stories, memories, experiences and a really good opportunity to interact with the brand." Calling Home an "easy environment for brands to take that first step into gaming." No doubt that means we'll be seeing a lot more non-gaming brands coming to Home in the future.
If you want to know more about some of Home's upcoming content be sure to check back with us later in the month.

jrabin93 @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:09PM
Awesome! This is the same company as the energy drink, right?
arrness @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:18PM
are you for real
stargateheaven @ Dec 2nd 2008 9:05PM
arrness; i don't know why you reacted like that.
Because....Yes it is the same company as the energy drink.
jrabin93 @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:08PM
Oh so it is the same company...the way arrness reacted I thought it wasn't...thanks for clearing that up stargate
jarhead906 @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:20PM
Although I don't support Sony having a lot of companies advertising in Home, I understand that this type of support is necessary for it to be able to run at all (seeing as it's a free service; TINSTAAFL).
At least Red Bull is incorporating the Red Bull Air Race, which I assume is kind of a big thing, instead of shoving ads in our faces as we waltz around in Home.
The only thing at this point in time I'd use Home for, with the limited amount of info we have, is the Party feature for launching games, watching movies, or just chatting it up.
black_ryuk @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:14PM
Well this should be interesting...
Funny that the first third-party partner is red bull though..as if to make late night gamers buy it lol

Sell horrible-tasting beverages to high schoolers?
Gambit07 @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:26PM
Seriously, how can people drink those things.
playcrackthesky @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:31PM
It gives you a good hit, but it will never taste as good as V, same effect but possible the best tasting beverage ever.
Do you guys have it in the US?
Kodros @ Dec 2nd 2008 7:33PM
Heh, I actually like the taste of Red Bull =)
blai4754 @ Dec 2nd 2008 9:21PM
sadly, people don't think about the consequences of these drinks.
used to drink them but not anymore:
1) unhealthy (sugar + caffiene)
2) expensive (1-3$)
if i need energy i just take one caffiene pill
1) healthy if less than daily maximum
2) cheap (10c a pill)

hmmmmm 4 weeks left in the year....they better put HOME out for REAL this time else all faith in SCE will be gone........
abe @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:01PM
lol later in the month. oh i actually think advertising is a good idea it helps home with financing new parts for it and stuff so making it an ongoing improving expirience
LatinoLA1 @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:43PM
this sounds cool
Indefinite Implosion @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:05PM
Jagerbombs in home here we come... they supply the red bull... we supply the jagermeister?
Tez @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:12PM
Hate the drink if you want (I do), but those air races are SICK. I wonder if the game will be any good.
michael @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:30PM
hm,Red Bull very intresting to see that. Well, that drink is good when I first tried it. I don't see any problem with it on Home.
tboy123 @ Dec 2nd 2008 8:54PM
as long as all of the advertising is subtle... I will be cool with it. If it gets to in-your-face, I will opt out of HOME.
bigred @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:25PM
Yeah. I'm about to opt out of my TV, Radio, Newspaper, and the Internets. Can't stand it anymore.
tboy123 @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:51AM
@bigred
I have a few suggestions that may help your ad problems... for TV I use a DVR, and I just record all of the shows I would watch then fast forward the commercials *it rules*. And for internet, if you use Firefox (better than IE) just download "Ad Blocker Plus", choose your region and bam. Few to no ads on internet.
I have had alot of fun in HOME so far. Played the Echronome game and got my guy dressed up like Echronome... wish they had his head though!

sweet.

i dont get why anyone could be opposed to advertising in Home...do i have to remind anyone that the dont pay a monthly/yearly fee to use PSN? if sony can recoup their losses in a non obtrusive way to gamers (in game ads, Home advertising) all power to them
iamkid @ Dec 2nd 2008 9:29PM
i prefer monster and bawls, but red bull is ok. air race game sounds like it could be fun!
MBO @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:40PM
whoa! red bull sure does advertise A LOT. ever seen those cars driving around with a huge can of red bull on top?
nakedatthecomp @ Dec 2nd 2008 10:45PM
As long as this keeps it free, I'll live with it!
omf @ Dec 3rd 2008 12:49AM
It would've been neat to see them advertise in WipEout HD. Their virtual billboards were all over the original WipEout back in 1995. Of course, many of you are probably too young to remember that... =(
Miserj @ Dec 3rd 2008 8:08PM
That was actually WipEouT XL. Ah the memories... :) RedBull was good back in the day but I think they changed the formula since it doesn't taste the same anymore and the more strict warning is gone.
omf @ Dec 4th 2008 5:20AM
Oh, right you are - I played XL so much more that I sometimes think of it as the first game in the series.
I first had Red Bull when I was on a trip in overseas. I thought it was amazing! But either they've changed the formula, or you just get used to it after a while, because it just doesn't do anything for me now.
JadeWarlord @ Dec 3rd 2008 5:21AM
Interesting, a drinks company in Home, How long before Home turns into the sims, where you have to keep a "energy / food bar" topped up by visiting food / drink places?
lol
Mr Bunky @ Dec 3rd 2008 2:02PM
Bad move by Red Bull. By the time home officially comes out we'll all be drinking space juice and living on the moon.
