my first ever blu ray purchase has been the dark knight...on preorder so should be getting it tomorrow morning...
these are the movies that blu ray was designed 4...
Tidus @ Dec 7th 2008 7:14PM
This is my first BD movie too :D I can't wait to get it :)
Hife @ Dec 7th 2008 5:20PM
Mmmm, can't wait to curl up with Dark Knight on blu-ray after 2 finals and forget for a few hours that I should be studying for the other 2.
jarhead906 @ Dec 7th 2008 5:31PM
I'll toast to that.
ultimateidiot911 @ Dec 7th 2008 7:03PM
Oh man, you too. Cheers to you.
Jimmy @ Dec 7th 2008 5:32PM
The Dark Knight, ftw.
Tez @ Dec 7th 2008 5:42PM
Is The Dark Knight a good movie or something?
ryan @ Dec 7th 2008 5:55PM
Apparently. I hear it's supposed to be a Batman movie. Not too sure tho.
Tez @ Dec 7th 2008 6:00PM
Batman? Is that a new superhero?
C-Onor @ Dec 8th 2008 9:22AM
waaaaaa
how could you not know that its a batman movie?
and Tez...how the hell could you not know who batman is??? lol
Vcize @ Dec 8th 2008 9:48AM
Probably the same way that you could not know what joking or sarcasm are...
SuicideNinja @ Dec 7th 2008 5:44PM
Dumb and Dumber...in HD. How ridiculous....something's we just don't need to see more definition of.
Dark Knight indeed....it'd be worth it in HD (can't say as much for the prequel). Guess I'm going to have to go back on my promise to refuse Blu-ray purchases....
nakedatthecomp @ Dec 7th 2008 6:17PM
haha i said the same thing when that all started... i've since only gotten 300 (and Dark Knight), so I'm doing pretty well!
jq71586 @ Dec 7th 2008 8:42PM
Every movie should be released on the high-definition medium no matter how good or bad it is. If the movie is getting a huge picture upgrade and coming with lossless audio, it should be a definite purchase. I'm getting both the Dark Knight and Dumb and Dumber this week, along with Tommy Boy next week. If you love the movie, buy it, but everything should get a transfer to blu-ray.
Sinistar @ Dec 7th 2008 6:17PM
Anyone know if there is going to be a Batman Begins/Dark Knight dual pack bundle?
doc j @ Dec 7th 2008 7:47PM
I'm there will be eventually. Whenever WB decides to milk you for more money.
Alphathon @ Dec 7th 2008 7:59PM
We have one over here in the UK...I have it on pre-order in fact, but hasn't been dispatched yet so should be here in a few days. TBH though its not that much better of a deal, only like £3 cheaper or something (~$4.5US I think), and considering it costs ~£28 for the pack. Surprised there isn't one over there (or maybe you just havn't found it :p)
KickMeElmo @ Dec 7th 2008 6:18PM
I'm starting to think I'm the only one on this planet who didn't like the dark knight. Joker just felt too much like a thug and not much like anything special to me.
mezzanine @ Dec 7th 2008 6:28PM
I didn't care for it either. Thought it was okay.
Warner Young @ Dec 7th 2008 10:30PM
Same here. I fully expected to like the movie, but for some reason, I thought it was good, but not great. And I'm really not seized by the desire to see it again.
Maybe I've gotten too used to the original animated Batman series by Bruce Timm and gang. That felt much more like Batman to me.
Barndo111 @ Dec 7th 2008 10:34PM
I completely agree. Ledger's performance wasn't what I expected it to be and came across very thin and like a 30's gangster. Bale's performance made me piss myself laughing in the theater with his obnoxious voice. They could've left out the section of the movie where he goes to Tokyo, it was completely irrelevant. What was with all of the huge sweeping panaramic shots of the city? Yes, now we all now it takes place in Chicago. What happened to the Gotham from the first movie and the big rail line that was destroyed? When they couldn't figure out who the Joker was because he didn't have ID or fingerprints, why didn't they just wash his face?! Or when they blamed Batman for the crimes Harvey Dent did so the people would still think he was their "White Knight," why didn't they blame the Joker? He was killing people the whole movie! They couldn't blame a few more things on him?
Yes, I thought the movie was ridiculous.
DrunkRaba @ Dec 8th 2008 10:06AM
@ Barndo111
The large sweeping city-scapes, were there for the many people including myself that saw the movie at the IMAX. While nothing was very spectacular I would assume on the normal screen, on the IMAX it was very cool and you felt like you were flying off the edge of a building with Batman.
I have this preordered on amazon, and just picked up Step Brothers, The Shining and Swordfish, for cheap!
JoeTheBlow @ Dec 8th 2008 6:37AM
Same here, i thought it was more wierd and stupid than anything, and god did it go on and on.
He had like, what, 50 chances to kill the joker?
And that stupid voice, GAH!
oldmanpip @ Dec 8th 2008 7:42AM
No way! I am not in any bit or way a Batman fan, and hated the other movies to be honest.
But this movie was just.. good. People died (I hate movies where the good guys never die or turn bad. It's just stupid). Joker was just wickedly awesome and fantastic. Batman was annoying but eh, what can you do?
Batman doesn't kill people based on some principle where good doesn't kill bad blah blah - hence why he doesn't kill the joker given the chance.
If you don't have his ID, why would washing his face help? You don't actually know who he is still unless he is a high-profile person.
And honestly, you're debating about small things like realism and continuity? Do you hate 300? (Terrible movie, I abhor it), Wall-E? Pretty much every movie as every single one has some flaw or something that doesn't make perfect sense or has some cinematic problem? Bleh. :P
Ferdasyn @ Dec 8th 2008 8:07AM
JoeTheBlow,
Batman never intended to 'kill' the joker. He captures bad guys, he doesn't 'kill' them. Just like The Joker doesn't intend to kill Batman, he just likes the thrill of Batman existing.
futurebiblehero @ Dec 8th 2008 12:15PM
I agree on the whole "Batman in Tokyo" thing. It was completely pointless. Good thing he went right back to Metropolis after all of that nonsense was over.
mezzanine @ Dec 7th 2008 6:27PM
Hooray, The Mask!
j.howlett @ Dec 7th 2008 11:51PM
cuban pete
Sinful Lust @ Dec 8th 2008 9:56AM
oh slap me like a bitch the dark knight is finaly here!!!
Bobby @ Dec 7th 2008 6:42PM
$30 for a movie is ridiculous. I paid $600 for my ps3 and I didn't even get an HDMI cable with it. Then the cable is $60 bucks plus a $30 blu-ray movie which ends up being $690, not including tax. And I thought MS was cheap, sony is my new "ripoff" company.
Rodrigo @ Dec 7th 2008 6:45PM
dont buy it then! and carry on!
kint @ Dec 8th 2008 9:56AM
Did you recall going to the store at gunpoint when you bought your ps3 cheap bastard?
Why ppl complain about Blue-ray movies if you think are expensive, don't buy it simple as that!!! you probably dont even own a ps3 piss of shit...
meatee @ Dec 7th 2008 6:58PM
hit up monoprice.com... you don't need to pay $60 for an HDMI cable.
jarhead906 @ Dec 7th 2008 7:00PM
If you paid $60 for an HDMi cable, then congratulations, because you just gained access to the Oblivious Consumer Club!
Seriously though, there are HDMi cables around $10-$15 (decent length) and they get you the exact same thing as those 'fancy' ones.
ultimateidiot911 @ Dec 7th 2008 7:05PM
30 for a bluray?
If you're a smart shopper, you can get it for ~23.
HDMI cable are around 12.
Araskaz @ Dec 8th 2008 9:56AM
If you bought your PS3 for 600 dollars, I'm guessing you bought it a long time ago. Like, 2 years ago. So... if you are just finding out that its 30 bucks for a blu-ray, I'm guessing you didn't buy a PS3 for blu-ray... you bought it for games... since you've had a PS3 for 2 years. Since you bought your PS3 for games, I would say 500 dollars were put into gaming... when you bought a blu ray player for 100 dollars. If you were smart, you could have bought an HDMI for 12 bucks, and blu-ray for 20 bucks.
There we go, and I thought spongebob was retarded... oh well... .your my new icon for retardedness.
parkd @ Dec 7th 2008 8:46PM
One look at your comments, and I know you're a troll. Carry on.
Tyler @ Dec 7th 2008 8:46PM
I got my HDMI for $5 off of Ecost.com, not that I needed it though... When we switched to Direct tv (HD) the guy gave us 4 HDMI cables for free... lol! At least you did not do as bad as my grandpa and pay $90 for a cord.
Also, if you are a SUPER smart shopper, you may be able to find Blu-Ray movies for as low as $16.
My 2 cents.
Dark Knight Blu-Ray=MINE!!!!
Will @ Dec 7th 2008 9:48PM
It's called not buying at retail and taking a little bit of time to shop around.
see monoprice for $4 HDMI cables and amazon/other online retailers for TDK.
Dreadhead541 @ Dec 7th 2008 9:47PM
i only payed $10 for my HDMI cable, and you can buy TDK on amazon for $24
Khaled @ Dec 7th 2008 10:20PM
Yes you did get ripped off. $60 for an HDMI cable??? that is a rip off, I got mine for $10. As for the PS3, I do not think it is.
zero @ Dec 7th 2008 7:08PM
"wha..what happen did yo balls fall off"
LOL i love that scene
doc j @ Dec 7th 2008 7:57PM
Well, I loved the Dark Knight, but I am far more excited for Lost.
What a great way to decompress from freaking Pharmacology over Winter break.
KEN! @ Dec 7th 2008 8:24PM
already pre-ordered dark knight like 1 month ago! woohoo!
mixer23 @ Dec 7th 2008 8:28PM
anyone know who is selling the one with the joker cover? please... i must have it
doc j @ Dec 7th 2008 10:13PM
As far as I understand the batman cover is a cardboard slip and the Joker is on the actual case. That's what all the pictures I've seen have shown.
C-Onor @ Dec 8th 2008 9:24AM
well, i wouldnt say its JUST the cardboard case, the plastic case would...PROBABLY *cough* definitely, be under the cardboard
Phil @ Dec 7th 2008 8:58PM
HAHA you paid 60 bucks for an HDMI cable
desikid @ Dec 7th 2008 10:03PM
I was soo excited for dark knight. My ps3 decided to rlod (yes it exists) yesterday. now im stuck talking to amex for a warranty cause i bought a launch ps3. I am angry. very very angry.
Tyler @ Dec 8th 2008 12:46PM
Is it not the YLOD?
All thank Xbox 360 for the "of Death" Phrase. MS should copyright it... Coin it as the phrase for their next system... "Xbox 720, FINALLY RRoD free!" Excluding the fact that they put new color of light in (like purple) to say its broke...
