EEEEEeeeeEEE adorable
eNriqueLeGrand (PSN) @ Dec 8th 2008 9:25PM
Y'know, Im starting to get tired of being ripped off by this "DLC Era"(especially in Music games, 2 greens for a song!!! CRAP)
I remeber the good old times where you had to do certain tasks to unlock new missions, weapons, clothes, whatever it was
Games at 60 greens are expensive, now this, i don't think it's fair to sell customers things that should be in from the very beggining, again just my opinion
(btw I know there's a word for this * Capitalism *).
Packfan @ Dec 8th 2008 9:26PM
Hey, it only takes 60 leaves to buy a game? I'm in...
Oh wait, you mean DOLLARS. Sorry, not down with your wonderful metaphor.
Fiddlesworth @ Dec 8th 2008 9:45PM
1. Don't like it, don't download it.
2. Sony don't have a time machine allowing them to go into the future when deals with IP holders like Konami, Capcom and Square-Enix have got the goahead and the content's been made. Sure they could delay the game a year or two so all this content could be on the Blu-ray and SONY still have to pay the IP holders to use their characters. $80 regular edition of the game?
Mein Bratwurst @ Dec 8th 2008 9:56PM
eNriqueLeGrand (PSN),
You'll probably get flamed for that with people saying "LOLOMGWTFLOLOL IT'S JUST 2 DOLLARS", but I agree. I thought the DLC age would be awesome but it seems like it was just an era meant for companies to nickel and dime you. Now, I know one is not FORCED to buy DLC but like you said, this stuff could have been in game for free.
That being said though, I don't mind paying for DLC that is actually worth it... such as map packs. Items such as skins/costumes should be free IMO.
Bagels PSN:WolfLogic @ Dec 8th 2008 9:50PM
I too am glad that songs that came out after Rock Band 2 was released aren't available on the disc. Because then instead of paying 2 greens for a song I want I could pay 50 for a collection that it's in next year.
eNriqueLeGrand (PSN) @ Dec 8th 2008 9:52PM
Someone is up past their bedtime...
fiddlesworth, you are completely missing my point here;
"1. Don't like it, don't download it"
I knew someone would say that, the point I am trying to make is that, in order to get the FULL game experience you have to get this.here
Bagels PSN:WolfLogic @ Dec 8th 2008 11:46PM
How is a set of extra costumes part of the FULL game experience?
DLC in LBP, Rock Band, even Warhawk ADDS to the experience but one has the entire game "experience" the second they tear the plastic off the package.
Don't snap @ fiddlesworth, he made a completely rational point. His restrictive slumber guidelines have no bearing it.
Bagels PSN:WolfLogic @ Dec 8th 2008 10:01PM
How is a set of extra costumes part of the FULL experience?
Games like LBP, Rock Band, even Warhawk have DLC that ADDS to the game, but one has the full "experience" the moment they tear the celophane off the packaging.
Don't snap at Fiddlesworth. He made a rational and coherent point and his restrictive slumber guidelines have no bearing on it.
BLee @ Dec 8th 2008 10:03PM
you can get the full game experience without street fighter sackboy costumes..
FrodoTBaggins @ Dec 8th 2008 10:16PM
Actually I agree with Fiddlesworth completely.
MM/Sony have no idea exactly which third party companies will allow the use of characters. The rights to use the characters and the production of the outfits cost money.
I see your point for a lot of other games' DLC taking money for things that should've been on the disc, but this one, not so much. This is something that is purely cosmetic, if they made you pay to upload/play levels that would be taking away from core functionality of the game, but this is for fans of the franchises.
I wouldn't mind shelling out a little for these they look awesome, just hope they make they're way to the EU regions.
Oh yeah, If you don't want it, don't buy it
rohan @ Dec 8th 2008 10:17PM
i argee with ur point i don't like of games nowadays have DLC of it BUT if they did not have DLC, the games would only be delayed in order to add more content to it as the devs came up with them.
eNriqueLeGrand (PSN) @ Dec 8th 2008 10:47PM
I know that we can get the full epierence without costumes, but what about map packs(shooters)?, and extra songs(rock band)?
extra levels(like fable)?
shinseiromeo @ Dec 8th 2008 11:46PM
Think of it like this: It costs $1 to buy a song in iTunes. In Rock Band, you get the song, the ability to sing, play the guitar, bass, and drums. Plus the time necessary to make the lip syncing, notes, and four separate levels of difficulty... all for $1 more.
Bagels PSN:WolfLogic @ Dec 8th 2008 11:15PM
Do you still not get the thing about Rock Band songs? This is my 3rd post about it on this reply. Putting 500 songs on a disc is impractical, unwise from a buisness standpoint, not fair to the artists, and not dynamic like a constantly updatable interface is.
How often have the Warhawk expansions come out? Every 7 months? The development of those features took alot of time, and they would have delayed it into oblivion. Don't you think it's fair to pay the developers for allllllll that work?
Long story short, QUIT WHINING! Oh, and it's past your mom's FACE's bedtime.
Popfrogs @ Dec 8th 2008 11:21PM
I'd consider buying these costumes ONLY if you could trigger the character's famous moves. Ryu = dragon punch, Guile = crescent kick, you get the picture.
How awesome would it be to do those moves with a #1 trophy next to your head at the end of a race level?
playcrackthesky @ Dec 9th 2008 10:18AM
lol @ the DLC bitching. It really is simple. If you think a DLC will add extra to your gaming experience, you purchase it.
If your not interested, then don't f#cking buy it...after all, it isn't compulsory.
James @ Dec 9th 2008 2:38AM
DLC sucks, honestly for every one game that uses it correctly there seem to be 4-5 that either abuse it or use it for stupid things like weapon skins or some way to make the game much easier.
It kind of sucks to pay $60 for bioshock and then get shafted on DLC two weeks later for $10.
LBP really walks the line with DLC. On one hand it seems like some of these skins were just simply MADE for DLC (Still waiting for the Helgast that was shown like 2 years before the game came out, or the Celtics one shown at E3) and honestly the "premium" ones should be like $1 instead of $2.
Although PS3 users are a bit lucky, we don't have to buy in certain amount of points so if we just want a $2 item we are charged $2. It's a hell of a better system then the Wii's (and I think the 360s)
P @ Dec 9th 2008 5:37AM
As Bagels said, but i think theres also something else that people seem to forget.
With the music games in particular, and probably the same for a few other games like LBP you cant just use the content for free. You cant just decide to add a dozen new songs into a game because people want it, someone has to pay the royalties, you cant escape that simple fact.
This Street Fighter content will see some money going into SF's pocket for the use of their property and some to LBP's for the time making them and some profit too, they're a business afterall.
Pretty much everything you dont own the rights to has to be paid for, theres only so much they can include with the initial cost of the game in order to still turn their required profit, if that means they can only give you 20 songs then thats the case, they certainly cant include 100 unless they add that into the cost of purchasing the game as the royalties on the extra 80 songs will need to be paid by the customer still. At least you can cherry-pick what you want rather then being forced to buy $20 bundles for 1-2 songs you like.
Some stuff i'll agree with, it takes the p***, but you cant just expect these companies to pay royalties out of their own pocket while spending time creating the content in its finished form, all for free for ungreatful & unappreciative folks who wont pay for items they want that HAS to be paid for by someone.
The only DLC content ive paid for was the PJMonsters addon, so im not someone who's happy to throw money at anything cos its there, but i understand why theres a fee for it and if i want it then i may buy it.
Christian @ Dec 9th 2008 10:18AM
Well you do unlock shitloads of stuff for free in LBP, so I am not sure your criticism is well placed. And personally I am fine with for pay DLC as long as its purely optional. And new costumes for your sackperson is definitely in the purely optional category.
For pay DLC which gives you in-game advantages or game extension DLC which feels like it was supposed to be part of the original game on the other hand I really dislike.

Pretty pricey compared to the other costume packs.

Actually, it's not. The other licensed-game outfits go for $2 a pop.

I'm pretty sure I will buy this pack but where are Sephiroth and Solid Snake anyway?
Just_my_opinion @ Dec 8th 2008 11:47PM
I think I agree with both opinions about DLC.
1 - I don't agree with the one who said 'DLC for music games is CRAP' , I guess, this way, everyone can choose to pay for the songs they prefer.
2 - But I have to agree that sometimes I feel like some companies are releasing some DLC strictly for money. I buyed Dead Space, and I totally disagree with the idea of selling a skin for a gun around 2$. I know, if I don't like it, don't but it - but I also know some people have less judgement than others, and I am pretty sure quite a lot of people bought some skins in Dead Space - it's... dark.. in the game, you don't even really see your gun that much, even on 42 inches 1080p... (thank you brother for the good moments playing dead space with you on your tv).
So in the end, I think , DLC is superb, being able to download/buy stuff like maps, guns, new chapters for games is great (sometimes even refreshes some games that we are not playing anymore) - but in the same time, skins should be free, as well as small gifts from developpers from time to time would also be appreciated, just to show they not only care about our money, but also about our satisfaction.
Hideo/Konami is a good example, for those who saw some of his interviews/MGS4 making-of, I noticed he cares a lot about players ! If you play metal gear online, you get for example 10 points for every day that you play, and those points can be exchaged in the Konami Reward shop to customize your character. You don't need to exchange real money for skins, you can be rewarded for your good playing - and MGS online have also games during the week-end that are rewarding even more points.
JAH75157 @ Dec 9th 2008 12:47AM
pretty cool, still won't buy. not a fan of the buy a costume thing. the only dlc i've ever bought and not had buyer's remorse was the cod4 map pack.
playcrackthesky @ Dec 9th 2008 12:55AM
I was going to mention narcotics, but then I remembered the come down....
Think Adrian @ Dec 9th 2008 2:46AM
oh, too bad.. don't want to pay any more for this game cuz I don't think it's that funny anymore... maybe because most levels are boring and I don't have time to build my own... any suggestions to make this fun again?
gumbie07 @ Dec 9th 2008 9:41AM
There are a TON of levels online, I know that a lot of them suck but, if you take some time and work through some of them you can find some real gems. You can try mine if you want, I'm not promising it is the best out there but I think it is fun, a little difficult but fun. my online ID is gumbie7 and my level is called cavemania. Send me a friend invite and I will add you to my friends list then you can check it out. Go into LBP and then go into my info under your friends and check out some of the levels I have hearted, I don't have that many but, there are some pretty good ones.
If you go to either http://www.mediamolecule.com/ or http://www.littlebigworkshop.com/en-us/. They highlight some great levels you can play, that way you don't have to go searching for them (which can be tedious).
Also, building a level is really not as difficult or time consuming as you may think. Once you get going and figure out what you are doing and how all of the different mechanisms work its not that hard. I actually sat down and drew out my level on graph paper before I built it, that really helped (I'm a little OCD that way). Don't give up on this game, in my opinion it is hands down one of the best and most creative games EVER. The possibilities are endless.
prodigy_69 @ Dec 9th 2008 5:13AM
Dear Media Molecule/Sony
two words about DLC..
Criterion Games.
lots of love
prodge xxx
Dan Rabot @ Dec 9th 2008 5:17AM
You are getting a product in that DLC, unfortunately we do live in a capitalist world which means we will have to pay.
But would you prefer the old way, maybe getting some little extras for finishing a game (and only some games) and only the same extras as everyone else who's done the same.
Or getting varied, interesting, personal extra items at a tiny cost?
i for one don't buy every outfit, only the ones I want enough to spend cash on.
And by the way, they tend to cost even more over here in the UK, on top of the $80 we have to pay for a new game.
As said before, don't download them, if you don't want them you're not missing anything.
ZeroCorpse @ Dec 9th 2008 11:26AM
And THIS is why I hate LBP. We're going to see an endless stream of Sackboy versions of every comic book, movie, video game, anime, manga, furry, and geek-oriented character from now until 2010.
Well, this is one reason why I hate LBP. The other is that it's a platform game, and they get DULL really fast. "Hey! Another thing to jump over! WHEEE! That was fun! I hope I can do that another 2 million times in my ever-continuing quest to go to the right side of the screen!"
Sandbox games FTW.
Haohmaru @ Dec 9th 2008 12:27PM
..You want MORE sandbox games? Really? And you say platformers are dull. At least they actually take some degree of skill.
gumbie07 @ Dec 9th 2008 2:32PM
You have obviously never played LBP. It is one of the most creative, fun games with endless possibilities that I have ever played. With over 20 million online levels played there are quite a few people that I think would disagree with you. It is very much so the farthest thing from dull. Just because you are not blowing someone head off with a headshot does not mean it is dull. Plus many of the levels you walk to the left, up, down or use a jet pack to fly around, and that is just scratching the surface. Sound to me like that is a lot more than an "ever-continuing quest to go to the right side of the screen!" Maybe you should find someone who has it that will let you borrow it or rent it, give it a try and then you could give an educated opinion. I a least give something a chance before I disregard it as lame, dull or whatever word you want to use. Just give it a chance.
Also, at least they are giving you some kind of DLC almost every single week since the game was released. Even if you have to pay for some of it, I'm just glad to see that they realize people want to have the option to have DLC. I can't wait to see some new developer levels.
Warner Young @ Dec 9th 2008 3:57PM
Gah. While I don't really like the idea of charging for something like skins (i.e. stuff that's not technically useful for the game), this is the first set of costumes I've seen that I actually am tempted to pay for.
Hmm, stick to my prinicples or go down the slippery slope of buying things I don't need?
Gonzo @ Dec 9th 2008 3:59PM
When I heard there was going to be tons of LBP DLC, I too was enthusiastic at first. Now that I see they're just trying to rip people off, I feel kind of insulted.
Do they really think we're stupid enough to pay $6 for a few costumes in the game that do nothing but make the sackboy look different?
And I have to ask again, why offer costumes based on other games when they don't want you to make levels based on other games? Are they trying to be total d-bags? Because they're doing a very good job.
I still like the game itself but all this shoveldlc makes me want to smack them upside their fat heads.
microshocky @ Dec 9th 2008 5:05PM
They are making pure profit from this basically, these are 1mb files.
I don't understand why it cant be 1 dollar for the premium, 50 cents for the regular costumes.
This kind of crap would never run on the PC, i don't know why you guys put up with downloading map packs, costumes, skins, for money.
Vote with your dollar and simply don't buy it, I like little big planet but 2 bucks for a skin?
At first i thought it was 2 dollars for all 4 but no, it's 6 bucks!
