Next week's Rock Band DLC is a little bit country

Harmonix seems to be announcing Rock Band's DLC earlier and earlier by the week -- the No Doubt compilation album hasn't even been released yet. Anyway, the DLC this time around consists of a collection of country songs:

You people are all shortsighted idiots. Take a listen to some of those songs before you say anything. Brad Paisley plays a ridiculous guitar, Hillbilly Deluxe sounds like southern rock. Free and Easy is a fun fast song and Gunpowder and Lead is good for girls to sing and is about killing a guy. The only one I don't know is Dixie Chicks.
It's not metalband, emoband blah blah blah band either. So shutup with the "it's called rock band dir dee dir" retard arguments.

Dude who cares if so and so plays a great guitar bottom line it's called Rock Band not Country Band. Rocking makes you want to amp out, country makes you want to drink another Bud Light, cry, slap your wife, turn on some country music and listen about another homo who did the same and then black out and wake up just to cry because you can't remember why your wife left you a note stating that she left your pathetic whinny self in the first place. Yeah amp out to the indie-pop, emo, and all the other stuff in there that isn't straight rock. 5 country songs isn't a big deal, and acting like it's the end of the world is just plain asinine. If you took the time to actually listen to the songs, instead of getting on here spitting your awesome knowledge of current country music, I'd probably take you more seriously. But for now, you just sound ignorant, spewing stereotypes like you're cool for doing it. "DERHER country is for rednecks." You don't have to buy it, it's a freakin choice, I skipped the Thrash pack and didn't get on here goin oh my god all their songs are the suxorz it's ROCK band not metal band. The songs have guitar, drums, bass, vocals and I'm pretty sure that's all HMX requires to get in the game. Diversity and choice are a good thing.

Dave it's not a stereotype thing I've heard country music and it sucks. As far as ignorance goes why don't you list every college course you've had, I'll state mine and we can compare minds if you prefer. Power to you Chief homosexuality is a choice that I won't attempt to rob you of. However I still maintain my stance that Rock should go into Rock Band, Country should go to American Idol or what have you. It's not that I hate you or the trailer you were born in so don't be so personal. I would be equally frustrated if I had a strictly Country game and then they decided infuse Rock songs in it and I believe many would agree.

Unfortunately for you, going to college courses doesn't free you from ignorance(or make you clever or witty), pretty much as your calling me gay for liking country music highlights. I mean, my one semester of global womens writers that I had to take as an elective in my engineering curriculum isn't something I'd highlight to go, see...not ignorant, I read a book by a chinese woman.
And wow, my trailer near the Jersey shore sure is awesome too douchebag. Again showing ignorance that holy shit, people outside the south like modern country music, which has pretty much turned into rock with a southern accent at this point.
Harmonix has never let the title Rock Band dictate what they put in the game. There's rap (Beastie Boys), punk, emo, speed metal, and all sorts of other genres of music (Freezepop anyone?) No one is forcing you to buy anything they put out and being a whiny bitch about 5 downloadable songs is pretty retarded. Especially when most of the songs are about 1 step away from something like Skynyrd.

You my friend are an idiot. There are plenty and plenty of songs that are already on rock band, that are to say the least not exactly "rock" songs, yet they are still fun to play and very enjoyable to have in a rock band collection.

I'm no fan of country music (my ex-roommate used to play it all the time), but I have no problem with HMX adding a little country to the mix. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If no one buys it, no more country DLC.

Dammit! You put Dixie Chicks out before other genre bending music like the Roots, or Bloc Party, or any number of more deserving bands. I feel this is kinda dumb. Who is this supposed to appeal to? People aren't gonna buy the game for 5 songs and the majority of people who already have the game wont waste spacebucks on this. Let's just hope this is a phase harmonix. We know you have a lot of teenage angst and are sticking it to the man by releasing this, but I'm confident you grow out of it soon.

It's going to appeal to a lot more people than you think. That said, I would love to have the Roots in there. Drumming like ?uestlove would be awesome. I want more genres, reggae -> yes, rap -> yes. I don't see what's wrong with getting some choice.

I don't get this whole "Country doesn't belong in ROCK Band" argument. Do you walk into Burger King and give them crap because they also serve french fries and shakes? Or how about Pizza Hut? Those jerks have the audacity to serve breadsticks and salad.
HMX have already said that the term "Rock" in the title wasn't limiting the genres that were to be placed in the game. And if you don't like whats offered, don't download it, its not like the have a gun against your head.

This is great, because they are beginning to experiment with offering different genres. I don't care about country (some may be good,) but I could use some more pop/rock and this is a good step toward that sort of thing.

Listen, if you do not like country, do not buy these songs. "Rock" Band is such a loose term... are the Beastie Boys "rock"? Is freakin Squeeze "rock"? What about the Go-Go's, how hard do they "rock"?
The simple fact is that Harmonix are trying to incorporate everybody at the party into their PARTY game. What if that shy (yet cute) girl over there has a secret crazy side and all she wants to do is sing some Miranda Lambert??? +1 for you if you have that sucker downloaded.
I'm not a huge fan of The Dead Kennedys or Mission of Burma, so you know what I did? I passed on them.
I personally love the fact that Harmonix is not a one-trick pony, and they continue to add a diverse selection of music. I will totally pass on any rap songs they add, but I respect them for trying to appeal to everyone.

Oh God, why would Rock Band ever let something like this happen. Country is not rock, it's country. Therefore, it should never be on a game called Rock Band. Also it could quite possible be the worst music genre ever created.
