LittleBigPlanet and PAIN getting free Xmas-themed costumes
'Tis the season to be jolly ... and get free costumes. This week's free LittleBigPlanet costume is themed for the holidays. Everyone, meet Santa Sackboy. He'll be available for download on the PlayStation Store -- in two parts. But that's not the only free costume you'll be finding this holiday season.
PAIN players will discover a new character unlocked in the next game patch: Reindeer Ed (see him after the break). The next PAIN update will not only add a free character, but it will offer YouTube integration as well (something the game always needed!). No date on the PAIN patch, but we doubt it'll take too long.

Can you download a Sackboy costume even if you don't have LBP installed on your PS3? And how long will the Santa costume be up?
Basically, my PS3 is my girlfriend's, but I won't be there for a week or so. I just picked up LBP for us (very excited!), but won't be able to play/install it until I get there next weekend.
Can I ask my gf to jump online with the PS3 and download the Sackboy costume now?
Thanks!

yep, i downloaded a bunch of GH3 tracks like 6 months before I even got the game, just don't install them and they'll stay on your HD!
hurricane @ Dec 10th 2008 8:38PM
Yes, I've been downloading/installing free add-ons for games that I don't have yet. And you CAN install them and they WILL stay on your HDD (under Game Data).

And specifically, yes, you can download LBP costumes. :P I did it for weeks before I actually played the game.

Also, if you download something while it's at a special price (or whatever), it will always be available to re-download from your download list.

wow, thanks for the helpful replies, i really appreciate it!
and also, though this is off topic and i doubt anyone's still reading this post, i'd be very grateful if you could recommend some user-created levels that you thought are must-plays.
thanks again, and happy holidays!

Is Pain worth a purchase? They're sure supporting it well.
SergeantCorbett @ Dec 10th 2008 10:08PM
Its ok, I bought it for $5 when they had their summer sale a while ago. I like it, but I could definitely see how some ppl wouldn't like it

Awsome Sackboy.
rgoff31 @ Dec 11th 2008 9:39AM
Those are awesome, I like how they are not knit or crocheted . Trying to get that LBP knitting pattern for my wife for Xmas.
Sam @ Dec 11th 2008 7:24AM
SantaSack, sweet. Now all you need are some reindeer costumes and maybe you could make a Santa scene. On a related note, anyone see that awesome Rock advert for LBP on TV? It was a play through of an awesome Metal Rock based level. Finally Sony is actually advertising something in the UK related to the PS3.

Funny you should mention it, because there already IS a reindeer costume.. sort of. You can grab an "antlers" head piece in the actual game. Couple that with the lion/animal nose and a brownish material for your sackboy and you're good to go.
rgoff31 @ Dec 11th 2008 9:37AM
Wasn't there supposed to be a LBP Sackboy costume in PAIN?
