Home servers now live; you can now go Home

Don't look at us like that. Of course we're not lying. Home has actually launched. Once you've picked your jaw up from the floor, simply restart your PS3 and you'll find the icon under the PlayStation Network section of the XMB. From there you'll download the client and begin your Home journey. Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.

Downloading now - time to be dissapointed?
Mo @ Dec 11th 2008 3:57PM
please let me know if we can launch games now... and NOT just warhawk
longawkwardprose.com @ Dec 11th 2008 4:25PM
network error 4 times in a row... it is everything i expected it would be.
Devin @ Dec 11th 2008 4:26PM
If you go into it thinking that way then I maybe you won't be.
Seriously, though, it's a free app that doesn't cost you anything, it doesn't affect your gaming experiences and it is a BETA that will be constantly updated (hopefully) and will continue to evolve into bigger and better things (meaning this is NOT the final product).
I will be happy when I can (and maybe they already offer these, idk) virtual 3D trophy rooms, music I can play off of my HDD in my house, Game Rooms, virtual E3/TGS/GDC/etc.'s, play lots of fun mini-games with other people, Game Launch, invite friends into games really easy/quick, watch exclusive movie/game trailers in the Home Theater, make fun of other people.
ryan @ Dec 11th 2008 4:42PM
I can make fun of other people with Home?
It's gotta be worth it then. I've been trying ever so hard to find a way to make fun of people and now I think that search has finally come to an end.
*salutes Home*
*sweeps sarcasm under welcome mat*
Hife @ Dec 11th 2008 3:54PM
What happened to all of the new designer clothing and furniture and such? I thought they said it would be there when the Open Beta went live.
The_Black_Circle @ Dec 11th 2008 4:05PM
It was pretty clear that the stuff in the closed BETA would be gone with the launch of todays open Beta.
Popfrogs @ Dec 11th 2008 4:09PM
TBC: That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about the new stuff the Open beta is supposed to include...Diesel jeans, some fancy Ikea-style furniture, etc.
Although I read somewhere today that the European forums have info on this "missing" stuff, it's all supposed to show up next week, including the Red Bull racing game.
djr @ Dec 11th 2008 4:12PM
Cant connect to home :(
Hife @ Dec 11th 2008 4:11PM
Well I was in the closed beta, and it's pretty clear to me that everything I had is still there (except for my club, which they did say would be gone).
That's why I said "new" stuff, but apparently they were just teasing us with things to come.
Milereb @ Dec 11th 2008 4:12PM
Not out in the EU, will come out in the coming week..
KHCloud @ Dec 11th 2008 4:35PM
They haven't even announced Home being live on the Playstation Blog yet, we should be able to find out more details then as to why the malls are empty sans for the v1.02 stuff...
nathan-dts` @ Dec 11th 2008 4:56PM
Hey Jem, Europeans have a server crash it seems. No idea how North America are doing.
KarlW @ Dec 11th 2008 6:00PM
Tried out the EU version. Boring as hell. And I hate that the videos are on loop - I was talking to a guy in the theatre, and I could hear that 300 dude looping in the background. Was driving me insane.
ricky @ Dec 11th 2008 6:17PM
@KarlW: you know what the best thing about Home is? YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE IT AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT.
Lord_von_Punx @ Dec 11th 2008 3:55PM
i cant go home till i get off of work... lol

Wes @ Dec 11th 2008 4:00PM
Well its not up for everyone. Its not there for me. I restarted I am logged in and see no Home Icon under the Playstation Network section
nbdyz @ Dec 11th 2008 4:09PM
you have to go to the store and download it
nbdyz @ Dec 11th 2008 4:12PM
nvm... u should really reply to your own comment. makes things less complicated
trunks @ Dec 11th 2008 4:01PM
maybe I am the only one, but I don't see why I should try this out...looks and sounds as boring as second life.
Don't Buy Fallout 3 New @ Dec 11th 2008 4:06PM
trunks, it's like second life with better advertisements. Second life is popular, but if you can't stand the idea it's not worth your time.
No big deal. It's not like it costs us money. Some will have fun playing decorator and avatar maker...
Stubs24 @ Dec 11th 2008 4:11PM
Then don't try it out, don't play it, and stop complaining. Let others enjoy the free app.
Victor @ Dec 11th 2008 4:04PM
Hey, im from argentina and im downloading it...
If you want add me...
PSN: pinote85
Im wondering its only 77 mb... Awesome...
Don't Buy Fallout 3 New @ Dec 11th 2008 4:07PM
It's way bigger than 77 mb. You have to download everything but the first apartment later. It can take up 3-4 gbs (eventually, anyway).
Snipertaz @ Dec 12th 2008 2:13AM
Downloading :D
Drew @ Dec 11th 2008 4:04PM
what a friggin tease... I'm not old enough for Home! I guess I'll play some GTA...
Derntz @ Dec 11th 2008 4:05PM
Ahhh damn it, just when i have to go visit family after work...
Brad @ Dec 11th 2008 4:26PM
Anyone else in the USA/NA get a C-991 error after the MOTD?
Ranus Studios @ Dec 11th 2008 4:08PM
I am getting the same thing. I think that instead of dealing with this, I will go play a good old fashioned offline PS1 game.
hatori1181 @ Dec 11th 2008 5:11PM
yep. getting the same problem here.
connection lost.
JerickaRose @ Dec 11th 2008 4:24PM
I'm in the US, and I'm able to load Home. Sorry, I can't help. Maybe there's just way too many of us getting online right now.
ieko @ Dec 11th 2008 4:23PM
Now I'm alternating between that and C-948, good times.
ieko @ Dec 11th 2008 4:34PM
I'm even getting the C-931's now.
Wes @ Dec 11th 2008 4:05PM
Figured out why i wasn't seeing it. I had Qore downloading. Once I stopped it Home showed up. So make sure nothing is currently downloading.
UncleCheeto @ Dec 11th 2008 4:05PM
I keep getting a connection error (C-991) once I'm in Home and trying to actually use it, anyone else?
wes @ Dec 11th 2008 4:08PM
Every time.
dannyCage @ Dec 11th 2008 5:00PM
same here...
McAlec @ Dec 11th 2008 5:23PM
Same here
Elpepino @ Dec 11th 2008 8:56PM
ME TOO. SOMEONE HELP!
TheLife @ Dec 13th 2008 2:27PM
I was getting that too, I just kept trying, eventually I got in. Im sure it has to do with the servers
matice @ Dec 11th 2008 4:06PM
I downloaded it! 77mb
it keeps on freezing just after start when it tries to save data to hdd
is it just me?
Andrew @ Dec 11th 2008 4:11PM
make sure you have some space free guys - reserving over 3gb of space for the app.
download is very slow for the 77mb install
hmmmm, seems to have been trying to connect for a very long time
Brian @ Dec 11th 2008 4:10PM
Good job i have a large hard drive as Home wants nearly 4Gb of space.
sanji_blue @ Dec 11th 2008 4:14PM
Still got the "You are not old enough to access Home" message. Yes, i'm using a sub account =(
