Asian Home expansion brings Tekken, Soul Calibur, Ridge Racer rooms
Home is getting bigger (well, it couldn't get much smaller, could it?) in Asia on Thursday. The service will expand with a new Namco Bandai space, which will include lounges for Tekken, Soul Calibur, Ridge Racer and a classics museum where you can play Galaga, Xevious, Dig Dug and Pac Man on arcade machines. There will also be a bunch of new items to buy, such as holiday themed costumes and furniture as well as Namco Bandai and Nippon-Ichi branded items.
With the original open beta press release stating that the European and US versions would be expanded this week, we're hoping that will also occur on Thursday. The service desperately needs some new, interesting content. Hopefully we'll see as much third-party support as the Asian version is getting. Check out the Famitsu article for more images.

I hope some new content comes out as well, even I will admit it needs it.
An article on Yahoo that features Home. Nice to see some advertising.

Funny thing, this article was posted along the PS3 upgrade as well.

First the RROD, and now the "Circular Scratch of Death" = CSOD??
And all theses folks keep buying the 360 in droves. I am beginning to think that alot of these purchases are back up systems.
SimbaDogg @ Dec 18th 2008 1:17AM
well that pisses me off, i would love to play me some dig dug. i used to play that game all the time off of the 5.25" floppys on our old tandy. of course, on a monochrome monitor. my oh my...how time flies. i bet most kids on this board dont even know what the hell a floppy is.
jason @ Dec 17th 2008 2:25PM
that Namco Bandai space looks more fun than all of the American Home put together. Hopefully they'll bring it to America soon.
Vincent @ Dec 17th 2008 2:58PM
Seriously, I wish we had a Tekken space
Roto13 @ Dec 17th 2008 2:37PM
I'd be willing to check out a Soul Calibur space.
my triangle tie @ Dec 17th 2008 2:50PM
Sweet. I'm enjoying Home for what it si so far and these added spaces will be an improvement.
davebo @ Dec 17th 2008 2:53PM
Playing Namco arcade games could mean the difference between Home being a pointless "feature" and being a moderately entertaining time killer.
flubba @ Dec 17th 2008 3:13PM
The namco arcade games are allready in the Asian Home, playing them can give you things to put in your own apartment, among the things are working arcadecabinets =)
Michael @ Dec 17th 2008 3:51PM
How do you get them working? I downloaded the Namco beta, and I received the games, but it says I need a code to activate them in my home. Any ideas? Anyone?
ice~ @ Dec 17th 2008 4:12PM
Yea I have the same problem, i have the arcade machine, but no code
Invisible Robot Meat @ Dec 17th 2008 4:22PM
If you want the arcade cabinet to be playable you need to download the namco beta from the Hong Kong store. It doesnt require a code to play the arcade games unlike the Japanese version.
Tez @ Dec 17th 2008 3:33PM
If you use a foreign account to download the Namco Classics Museum, you can put the arcade cabinets you win there in your own apartment in the US; just make sure you install the demo while logged into your US account.
And dammit Sony, where is our SOCOM ROOM?
Michael @ Dec 17th 2008 4:14PM
How do you get them to work?
Tez @ Dec 17th 2008 4:17PM
If you installed the demo under your US account, then you just need to unlock it in the demo. After that, you can stick the cabinet in your apartment and play the games. I believe you need to keep the demo installed for it to work in Home, though.
Other people will not be able to play it.
Michael @ Dec 17th 2008 5:03PM
I did unlock Galaga and Dig Out, and put them in my home. When I try and play it is says I need to redeem a code. Do you know about this?
BlingOnMyWrist @ Dec 17th 2008 3:30PM
What I would LOVE to see is a GTA IV space. In the city.
The game wasn't great but, the space would be amazing.
Maybe a Battlefield: Bad Company space as well. :)
ice~ @ Dec 17th 2008 3:54PM
GTA IV dlc and a GTA IV home space are totally different things, dont use that to bash the Xbox(cox)... find some better excuse :D like how pS3 has home which rocks and 360 doesnt really have anything comparable to Home
Syn @ Dec 17th 2008 3:30PM
Europe and Japan, seem to receive better treatment.
I wish NA wouldn't be so stiff on licenses and maybe we'd have PlayTV and all those goodies.
Canada can't even use Hula.
ModeMan101 @ Dec 17th 2008 3:34PM
Does the Ridge Racer room feature a virtual Kaz Hirai?

Damian @ Dec 17th 2008 3:50PM
Put Galaga, Xevious, Dig Dug and PacMan on Home in Europe and all of a sudden it'll be worth the effort.
SnazzyD @ Dec 17th 2008 4:15PM
Another PS3fanboy article with a negative spin on Home. What is up with this site and these anti-Sony writeups like 'Home is getting bigger (well, it couldn't get much smaller, could it?) '
STFU already, and reveal yourselves as the Xbot sellouts you really are...
dip @ Dec 17th 2008 6:32PM
I love my PS3 and I think home sucks enormous cocks. They have opinions like anyone else. It's the fucktards like you who will blindly praise anything that comes out on the PS3 who is the true fanboy. How ironic your statement is.

Wait so,"praising ", something that you enjoy, and play in a website that clearly states "PS3fukinFANBOY" is a blinding experience ? Fuck you ! If you say, " I like Sony", yet despise it's products along with it's peripherals then guess what bud? You're the weakest link, you don't deserve Home or a PS3 for that matter. In fact I hope Home wasn't free so that I won't see and meet people like you when I can meet people that enjoy things that I do as well.
I'm actually glad some people don't like Home (usually unsociable people) But really STFU he likes it and so do many out there like myself and come here to read good shit on the PS3 . Not to see some idiot like you attacking a PS3user like it was out of anger and insecurity.
tomo511 @ Dec 17th 2008 4:10PM
And I'm still waiting for SCEE to give us Europeans just one, just ONE, home game space for me to look at. I probably won't enjoy it but at the moment I just feel really left out.
calvin @ Dec 17th 2008 6:08PM
thursday in america? because right now it's thursday in japan. i should check out the japanese home.
Pepe @ Dec 17th 2008 6:30PM
That's cool. Before you know it there will be many game spaces available. They still need to open the one for warhawk with the startegy room, and i've seen pics for the resistence room as well.
On a side note, it be cool if they had a Metal Gear Solid room that's set in shadow moses or something. With rex in the background.
AdamD @ Dec 17th 2008 9:15PM
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raaaaacccerrrr!!!!
brian @ Dec 17th 2008 9:20PM
So i have a japanese account and I put some arcade machines in my apartment and a couple hours later, i tried to get into the store on both american and japanese accounts and it said my account has been suspended and try again later.....have any of you gotten this?
ian @ Dec 18th 2008 6:45AM
Good information. Thanks ps3fanboy. I will certainly look forward to playing some Namco classic arcade games. I want pacman for my currently sparse appartment ^^
I am enjoying Home for what it is - A good place to meet current friends and new friends before playing WipEout or LBP online together. oh and savage dance fiestas!
EcnobA @ Dec 18th 2008 7:35AM
