WipEout HD demo coming Christmas Eve

Sony's just informed us that WipEout HD's been a pretty big success story. It is SCEE's best, and fastest, selling PSN download for the month of November. But SCEE's still not happy. It wants more people to enjoy the game, so it's releasing a demo version onto the European store next week. On Christmas Eve, to be precise

The demo will include a single track from the game. Once you've played that through you'll then be given a preview of all the other tracks. If that sufficiently tickles your fancy, you can buy the full version directly from the demo for a temporary reduced price. SCEE doesn't say what the cheaper price is, exactly. Only that it will return to its normal price on January 8th. We're betting this lower price and demo will persuade a good number of people, drunk on festive cheer, to part with their cash.

I love so many things about this game. I just finished the the Campaign mode, that easy patch reallt made all the difference. I wasn't sure when I was coming back to it until that patch came out.

I don't see why sony doesn't take at least one thing from Xbox live and that is make all Devs make a demo on release of the game. Sony is losing money because half the games on PSN don't have demo's. They'll do a demo for a game after its been out for like 6 months and sales are low. They should have had this demo along time ago.

It does take a lot of work to generate a good demo, it's not just a case of cutting out a section.

Dead Space for example, which just dropped you part way into a level with not much idea what to do other than be killed.... quickly.... many times.... actually were counter-productive and were just as likely to put people off the game.

However, for Wipeout, really cant understand why a demo was not available for this earlier.

Fingers X'd its a nice price drop and I may well be tempted.

The Dead Space demo did suck. I tried to enjoy it, but I couldn't figure out what to do, got frustrated, and deleted it. On the other hand I do agree that all games should have demos. Perhaps tutorial demos like Skate. I would have never tried it otherwise, but it turned out to be one of my favorite games of all time!

I love WipEout HD too, but damn I think I fail at it on any speed class beyond Flash >.< Even though we got the patch, I insist on playing it on Elite difficulty and just get my butt handed to me from Head Rush circuit and on :(

Is there any good site with tips to master WipEout? Before the Pilot Assist existed I couldn't ever win a race (both on PSP and PS1 versions of the game), but I love the game, there has to be a way for me overcome the challenges But how?

I firmly believe that only some sort of genetic mutants can complete this, who are mentally able to predict the near future.
Kinda like that Nicolas Cage film, where he boned Jessica Biels, even though she's young enough to be his daughter.

Speaking of wipeout, has there been any word on DLC? I would love to see some more tracks remade like this, and i really hope they're planning on putting eliminator mode in.

i played a wipeout game some time ago and this was LONG AGO .... i think i'l download the demo and give it a shot if i like i'l buy if not i'l stay away from and buy Blast Factor

Awesome, a little price reduction is all I needed to make the jump.
So, assuming this is just for Europe, is there going to be any downside to me downloading it from there since I live in NA?

Nope.
As long as you get the money in your EU store wallet somehow its all good.
The game has an inbuilt region chooser for when you go to play online.

This is a great game and deserves to be at the top of the PSN chart. Anyone who likes racing games with speed, depth, and perfect control should pick this up.

Might as well pull the trigger Rapier, because there's plenty I know about the game that no Zone member has yet plugged into. The record tables are proof of that.

You can create a european account, look for a guide on the internet. Then you will be able to download and check out the demo :)

Don't make me laugh the cheek you have to call anyone else arrogant. My statement is correct, I don't see your Wipeout website sharing all your supposed little tips and tricks, your not going to help anyone so therefore I am correct in what I say.

Speaking of arrogance your little post there contains enough, you have the top spots on the HD tables do you? I'll have a look next time. Why don't you put some of your exclusive knowledge of the game into practice when you play online against real people because the last time I played you you were quite poor and disappeared after 3 or 4 races.
