PS1 classic Suikoden now available on the US PSN Store
Just one new item on the US PSN Store today, but it's a good'n. If you're an RPG fan and a retrophile then you'll no doubt be thrilled with the release of Suikoden onto the PSN Store. This great (if schizophrenic) JRPG will set you back $5.99. It's a pretty rare find nowadays, so it's good to see that it's being made available via digital distribution. This is how it should be; PS1 classics preserved in time via the PlayStation Network. Real classics. Not Reel Fishing.

I might give this think a look-see if I find that my current library needs to be supplemented.

I'm replying to myself for anyone who may see this: I bought this game and it's amazing. Do yourself a favor. Get it.
mr.electic @ Dec 23rd 2008 7:58PM
good! now something that doesn't need converting! ;) i hope they have more ps1 games like this coming.
slycooper_rocker [anti-panda death murder squadron force five] @ Dec 23rd 2008 10:11PM
as in final fantasies 7-9.
mr.electic @ Dec 24th 2008 1:24AM
yes! :) in that way, we all don't need to convert FF7-9 ourselves. they give us the exclusive, fixed, properly converted versions of those!
TJF588 @ Dec 24th 2008 8:21AM
Nah, SE being SE, they'll give out revamped (and retranslated, eff yeah) versions on the PSP. Whether this happens after or in tandem with FFV and FFVI DS, I'unno, but about the only universally-marked-as-an-FF FF that'd be VC'd is Mystic Quest (unless they make a mobile version, like FFs I & II and Seiken Densetsu/SWORD of MANA).

shinseiromeo @ Dec 23rd 2008 10:07PM
Best. Game. EVER.
sakeya @ Dec 23rd 2008 10:43PM
this, wild arms, or everyday shooter? only got ten bucks to spend... which one should i get?
burandon @ Dec 23rd 2008 10:59PM
I haven't played Everyday Shooter, so I can't comment, but I would recommend this over Wild Arms. Don't get me wrong; Wild Arms is great, but Suikoden engaged me more and I think I had more fun with it. I enjoyed the different aspects of play (the army vs. army sequences were fun), and if you really want you can spend a good amount of time getting all 108 characters =) I think it took me about 20 hours my first go-through, and I kinda breezed through it. It really depends on what you're in the mood for and what you like, but if it were me I'd probably get this. ^^

And hopefully someday Suikoden II will come to the store, and with the original playstation version you could import save data.
Aniphx @ Dec 24th 2008 1:38AM
I say Suikoden and let me tell you why. The Suikoden series is the only RPG series I play straight through from start to finish. Every other series makes me take a break of at least a month of more at the end...level grinds...
Nate @ Dec 23rd 2008 11:01PM
More like this! I'm definitely going to get this just to encourage them to release more.
Aniphx @ Dec 24th 2008 1:37AM
I think this might be the best thing I have seen in the PS1 section yet. I totally want this!
aj @ Dec 24th 2008 9:12AM
Hey, I've got five bucks.
Saigon @ Dec 24th 2008 12:46PM
Wow, this is so far the best ps1 game they've released on the store.
This is an awesome game, and for $5! Sweet!
leonus @ Dec 24th 2008 3:50PM
this game is great and all but i'd rather have Suikoden II.
Suikoden II= best Suikoden game EVER!!
Danny F. @ Dec 26th 2008 11:26AM
I would've preferred the psp remake of 1 & 2 then the original suikoden 1 honestly. I hope someday the go forward translating the Japan only version for us over here :'(...
