PS Fanboy Best of 2008: Day 2

Nominations for our various Game of the Year categories continue today. Check out the galleries below to see our nominations for best story, best action adventure, most difficult trophies, best strategy game and (gulp!) biggest disappointment. Don't forget to vote on your favorite and get your voice heard -- all of our categories will have a reader's choice award this year. Winners will be declared on December 29th.

With all the games that could have been choosen, PS3fanboy strikes "Gold" again by placing Resistance 2 in the most disappointing list.

The game has an average score of 87 on Metacritic.
60 person multiplayer is unmatched.
8 man co-op is unequaled.
A good singleplayer experience.
Outstanding graphics and sound.

Show me a game that matches this experience AND value that came out this year?

Just because the MP supports 60 people, that doesn't make it good - the matches feel too chaotic and not strategic enough for me. I got tired of the 8-man co-op rather fast, and the campaign mode was far less compelling than the first one. The graphics, while decent, didn't improve enough, and when compared to other, recent PS3 titles, looked lackluster.

Sure, the game got a good MetaCritic score, but for a lot of people, me and my friends included, this game failed to meet expectations.

play through the single player mode more than once, and tell me if it is any more fun or enthralling. now get some friends over to your house and fire up resistance 2 and play some offline competitive. but you can't. it's a solid title, it is just missing on enough to keep me upset a bit

I agree that they should not have put Resistance 2 on this list. Sony is having a hard enough time selling exclusives and having a site called PS3fanboy label one of the biggest games of 08 a disappointment is not a good thing.

I think for the average person that picks up R2 they would be more than satisfied with it. Its an extremely well made game with a bevy of modes and plenty of content. Every game is going to have people that are let down by it, but I don't find R2 to be THAT polarizing...

If people consider R2 a BAD game I would hate to see how high their standards are. I also think its foolish how people are freaking out because Insomniac tried something new for Co-op. Instead of embracing it, people would be more content with the same boring stuff over and over...

i have a question Jem or Andrew or anyone who actually knows. will you guys read each vote or just tally all the votes under each pic. because of the people who put things like not a vote or vote under the wrong pic or the ballot pic would throw off the count if you guys are gonna tally each vote.

I can't beleive you put Resistance 2 in the biggest dissapointment list, and Mirror's Edge too. They are both great games, great story, great graphics, and excellent gameplay.

I'll agree with the everything else except for 'Most Difficult Trophies'.

Has anyone here even tried to get all of the Trophies for GTA IV? Fly the Co-op? With the incompetent coding, you have to remain in the same Party while doing Bomb da Base II, Deal Breaker, and Hangman's Noose. And let me tell you, when you're playing with a friend living in Japan, disconnections happen more than desired.

The rest of them though, are probably classified as being tedious or a chore = not fun anymore.

you can't play offline very well and single player loses its flair after a while. that's why i voted for it personally. i mean you look at halo or something (don't own a 360 and i won't pretend i do) and you can play easily with a whole bunch of friends without having to hook up to the internet

that might be true, but the game focuses more on online, which is more important to me. I guess it depends on the person. I have no one to play with offline so it is not important to me.

Oh shyt i'm never coming back to this site how the fuk does Resistance 2 make the most disappointing list of 2008. Whether it's the sp, co-op, co-op splitscreen, competitive multiplayer, splitscreen online competitive multiplayer, there is something for everyone to like. I know a bunch of people who didn't even touch the sp & are playing the co-op etc, or vice versa. There's something in this game for every fan of shooters. I'm guessing you guys dislike games like RFOM, Halo 3, F.E.A.R, DOOM, Half Life? Yes I hoped you were joking apparently not.

Most disappointing games of 2008? Your view is warped, you gave Mirror's Edge an 8, what is that doing there? I guess you expected AAAA on such an unproven IP? ORRRR, Home I suppose if Home which isn't even a game made the list you might as well put Life With Playstation. One game you forgot might be a lil something that was hyped to heaven called STAR WARS THE FORCE UNLEASHED? MERCINARIES 2!? The list goes on.
