Blu-ray releases for the week of December 28th
Nothing too exciting in terms of Blu-ray releases this week, but Firefly fans will be extremely glad to see Serenity make its debut in the HD format of our choice:
Oh, you mean you didn't get enough of Matthew McConaughey's hair plugs and shirtless torso in the tabloids and Fool's Gold? Then we highly recommend Surfer, Dude. If you liked Dead Space, you should check out Event Horizon -- both are of the sci-fi/horror genre with religious overtones. The rest of the theatrical releases are above.

Umm this was released on HD-DVD before, so this is not its HD debut

@DrunkRaba, nick and dehshizknight:
He edited it to "our choice" after Julian and Thor79 posted.

Serenity has been on HD-DVD for a while now, so this is not it's debut in HD...just it's debut on Bluray.
Nick @ Dec 28th 2008 11:25PM
That's pretty much what he wrote in the article.

Way more excited for that other movie that takes place in outer space!
Stupid side note: But why is there more often than not, blank bullet points when you list the new blu-rays?
Nando @ Dec 28th 2008 10:09PM
If serenity sold so well in HD-DVD, imagine how it will sell in blu-ray.
sean @ Dec 28th 2008 10:44PM
WOO 1 more week til dexter season 1 blu-ray
Game_playa @ Dec 28th 2008 11:02PM
Dexter's Lab? I remember that! But how is it coming in HD?
solidslack @ Dec 28th 2008 11:17PM
I think he means the serial killer, not the child scientist
Undercovermc @ Dec 29th 2008 4:14PM
Lol, people are still confusing the hit show Dexter with Dexter's Laboratory?
John S @ Dec 29th 2008 12:57AM
Yessss. Serenity baby
Lavat @ Dec 29th 2008 3:45AM
I always felt that Event Horizon got some inspiration from Warhammer 40k what with the Gothic architecture and "Pure Chaos" thing.
Carney @ Dec 30th 2008 10:45AM
Interesting idea. Hadn't considered it before.
I remember watching Event Horizon and being scared silly - unable to sleep that night. I'm not much of a horror fan and was expecting more of a sci fi deal. I guess if you've seen a zillion horror flicks it's old hat.
Friend of a friend drew a lot of interesting parallels with Alien. Distress call, derelict spaceship, scientist in blue has sinister hidden agenda, iris-style door, I forget all the rest, but was pretty interesting.
Vcize @ Dec 29th 2008 9:56AM
Fact: If you don't buy Serenity, you are a bad person.
Zach-J @ Dec 29th 2008 11:10AM
I watched Event Horizon again after taking a break from it for about 10 years, and was a bit surprised. It wasn't great...but not that bad. Where has Paul Anderson gone wrong with every other film he makes?
Still, Serenity is a far superior film and I'm quite excited.
Fane @ Dec 30th 2008 4:40PM
Event Horizon:
first act - excellent
second act - fair
third act - horrible
Antonio @ Dec 29th 2008 11:17AM
why are there so many empty spots on the list? is it just my browser/computer?
Draco @ Dec 29th 2008 3:07PM
I thought I was alone on that one... glad I'm not crazy I.E6 BTW (stupid work)
Phizzy @ Dec 29th 2008 7:19PM
I've had Serenity pre-ordered for a few months, I can't wait for it to arrive! :3
Levi @ Dec 29th 2008 8:02PM
Wow... great day for Blu-Ray... Event Horizon and The Truman Show. Love those movies.
