Yep, Disgaea 2 is coming to the PSP

Ah, so the rumors were true. Nippon Ichi has announced that Disgaea 2 will be headed for the PSP on March 26th in Japan. This upcoming portable version of the SRPG will feature a 30% longer story as well as new characters. A screenshot also suggests that the Magichange system found in Disgaea 3 will be added to the port, but this has not been officially announced. No word yet on a stateside release, but we see no reason why there wouldn't be one.

The original Disgaea was one of my all-time favourite games, but I never got around to getting Disgaea 2 for my PS2. Assuming there's no loss of cutscenes or voice acting in this port, I'll be picking it up instead! Disgaea 2 is pretty rare over here in the EU now, too, so this really is good news!

yeah!!! i been debating buying this for the ps2 knowing that a psp verison was almost forsure going to happen. i hope Disgaea 3 makes it to the psp sumday, could it be posible???

Jesus Christ, There's no new games for PSP, for the last...what...half a year? What the hell is Sony trying to do? Why NONE of the game developers make games for PSP? I'm sick of this, really. It's always some pointless JRPG and nothing more. WE WANT MORE PLAYABLE GAMES, SONY.

/Yes, I know, this is not the place to say it but whenever I check PSPFanboy on my RSS reader, there's always posts like this. I'm really fed up with this.

$10 says Disgaea 3 gets ported to PSP! Wouldn't that be hilarious, considering it's a PS3 game..

That is exactly what I've been hoping for since the announcement that Disgaea 1 would be on psp. Now that Disgaea 2 is here, i think the door is wide open for D3. Its not like there were any real advancements in it over 2, and it plays almost exactly the same. I don't see why they wouldn't/ couldn't bring Disgaea 3 to the psp.

Not to get you guys down but NIS did say that D3 wasn't possible on the PS2....I for one would like a new disgaea especially for the PSP or portable systems.

But most of the reviews for D3 pointed out that there was absolutely nothing involved in the game that couldn't have been done on the PS2, and that NIS probably just wanted to charge more for D3 and try to cash in on some DLC in the process.

How many reviewers are programmers? And how many have seen the source code to D2 and D3?

While the graphics don't push the PS3, they did take advantage of the extra memory it has to make bigger sprites, larger battlefields, have better animation, and more in game battle voices.
