Disgaea 2 port features tons of enhancements

Considering the effort that was put into the first Disgaea game on PSP, it's no surprise that so much is being added in the upcoming PSP port of Disgaea 2. Nippon Ichi's cult SRPG hit will be getting all sorts of new content. Players can expect a new chapter for Axel, and new party members. There's new weapons skills for the bow and the spear, and a new magic spell.

In addition to the added content, the PSP version of Disgaea 2 will also feature enhancements to the gameplay to make it easier to play on the go. Your characters will be able to move faster than before, and menus will be adjusted to make it easier to find characters, items and magic. A new camera system will also be implemented.

All in all, it looks like PSP fans are in for a treat. Check out the official Japanese site for screenshots.

I find it so hilarious that Nippon Ichi claims that Disgaea 3 was 'only possibly on ps3'.. yet Disgaea 2 (which looks pretty much identical) is perfectly viable on PSP.

Im not dogging on the Disgaea series, but admit it NI, you just made a PS2 game on PS3.

hahahaha. maybe you're on to something. they made a Ps2 game work on a PSP... and beat the hell out of the big console version to the grave. a Disgaea 3 on PSP? maybe it'll happen. then we all go crazy and say "WTF? how about MGS4 on PSP Konami?!"

NIS are one odd fellow. They can make pitch-perfect ports from PS2 to PSP with better enhancements.

off-topic though, but related to this one, if NIS can do perfect ports without compromising quality, then why can't other developers follow suit?

being updated, i think you guys know pretty much what's going on (developers not showing the love, Sony abandoning what could there best-selling handheld this year, the lack of games) i hope that 2009 will be the year the psp gets up and brings back the glory!

back to this one, hmmm... just looking at that screen makes me want to play Disgaea 1 again! i've been putting off playing it because i just started playing Monster Hunter... oh i just can't resist beating up wyverns with my Whirlwind attack!! lol

Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 3 do not look identical. Seriously, I've beaten both, and D3 looks much, much better than D2. The fact that it is not as pretty as, say, Valkyria Chronicles doesn't mean there weren't significant graphical upgrades.

It's a different story, you don't need to play the first one, though I would recommend it for being such a good game.

It's sad that the only PSP game I'm actually looking forward to (this) is one I already own on the PS2. And it probably won't be out in NA until 2010.

I'm really glad I didn't buy Disgaea 2 on PS2. I much prefer to play on the train.

I didn't like the first though I didn't get into it that much.
I didn't like the cartoony looks and the cheesy dialogue. Not to mention that they used Trebuchet MS as the primary font, and I hate using non-original fonts in games. Yes, I'm this picky.

If Dis 2 happens to avoid these, I'll get it.
