Dexter.... Ugh... No Thanks.
Maybe there'll be something better next week.
Napalm @ Jan 4th 2009 6:48PM
Blasphemy!
The Dark Trooper @ Jan 4th 2009 11:50PM
No, Common Sense
Deathalo @ Jan 5th 2009 2:18AM
No, Napalm is correct. This show is amazing.
The Dark Trooper @ Jan 5th 2009 4:14AM
No its not, I'll admit- The novelty of crossing the Noir Style with crime drama- Did have a novelty to it. But this wore out after the first season.
If It were closer to the novel, I would be more impressed.
Still waiting for Monk on Blu-Ray though (and season 5+6 on DVD in NZ)
Master Bruce @ Jan 5th 2009 2:57PM
it's cool to hate things that are good

Sinistar @ Jan 4th 2009 7:10PM
What about Opium and the Kung-Fu Master
Vickers @ Jan 4th 2009 7:11PM
F*CK YEAH, finally, Dexter in HD. I never new this was coming, but always hoped it would so I could buy it in the proper format. Thanks Alan Tsang for the awesome info!

Season 1 Dexter in HD, cool... If only Dexter looked better, the show is shot on HD video cameras and the lighting is pretty mediocre, with hot spots (blow-outs to white) on the actor's faces, etc. It's a bit of a shame because it's a great show, but most shows on Showtime shoot on video and it looks like it. Compare Dexter in HD to the look of Mad Men or Sopranos in HD and you'll know what I mean - they just don't budget the Showtime shows well enough to afford to look that good.
Deathalo @ Jan 5th 2009 2:18AM
Hopefully they will in the next 2 seasons, now that it's such a huge hit and all.
Daniel @ Jan 4th 2009 7:42PM

I literally just bought seasons 1 and 2 of Dexter on regular DVD. I had no idea it was coming to Blu already!

Another week goes by, and another week i wonder what blu-ray has to do with ps3 gaming...
DrunkRaba @ Jan 4th 2009 10:51PM
Seeing as all PS3's can play blu-ray movies and it is the piece of hardware to win the format war, it makes pretty clear sense why this is on the PS3Fanboy each week. Now, were this called the PS3GamingFanboy, then yeah, you would have an argument.
rbanke @ Jan 4th 2009 11:01PM
forgive me for thinking i owned a gaming machine.
nakedatthecomp @ Jan 4th 2009 11:33PM
Some people consider it a gaming machine that happens to play Blu-rays; some consider it a Blu-ray player that happens to play games.
No one's forcing you to read this site.
Kinsey @ Jan 5th 2009 12:16AM
I use the PS3 for what its for .... "multi"media.
I love the fact that they have a weekly BD release. One movie I'm looking out for is 'Soldier', unless its out already and I didn't know. If it wasn't for last week I wouldn't have known that 'Event Horizon' was out .... still have to pick that up tho.
Vcize @ Jan 5th 2009 10:48AM
To be fair, he kind of has a point. The PS3 also plays DVDs and CDs, but we don't get a weekly release list of that. Nor do we even get a release list of movies up on the PSN download store.
Still though, while logic dictates this doesn't really belong here, actual opinion says it does, since most techy PS3 owners (myself included) are very interested in blu-ray.
In short, I'm glad they post the list here.
DrunkRaba @ Jan 4th 2009 10:49PM
Pineapple Express!
Dan Rabot @ Jan 5th 2009 5:50AM
Yeah an Xbox360 is a "GAMES CONSOLE" a PS3 is a MULTIMEDIA CENTRE so yeah Blu-rays are media, one of the MAIN types of media your PS3 can use.
Now were you to list DVD releases on X360FB that would be weird.
I love blu-ray, tend to rent more than buy but I do have a few prize discs in my small collection.
How do they make old films HD? i mean surely Full Metal Jacket wasn't filmed with a HD camera?? Is it kinda like upscaling before putting it on the disk, rather than upscaling it from a DVD?
Is it magic?
DBrim @ Jan 5th 2009 7:04AM
Old movies were shot on film. Film has a higher resolution from HD.
DBrim @ Jan 5th 2009 7:05AM
From HD should be *than HD. I really wish that AOL blogs had an edit comment button. Oh well.
Dan Rabot @ Jan 5th 2009 7:22AM
Cheers, I figured that would be the case as film is pretty much analogue, pretty clever stuff though seeing old films in HD.
Vcize @ Jan 5th 2009 9:54AM
Definitely picking up Dexter. Now where are seasons 2 and 3?
vandil @ Jan 5th 2009 11:53AM
I'm glad to see some Blu-Ray releases priced at or below the DVD price.
Many people, myself included, cannot justify spending the extra $10-$15 for the Blu-Ray version simply because it looks better. Upscaled DVDs looks great enough on a PS3, so you can spend that $10-$15 on PSN stuff.
But, make the Blu-Ray price equal or less than the DVD version and now you will see people picking up the Blu-Ray version to get "more bang for their buck."
