Worldwide PSP releases for the week of January 4
The industry is still in vacation mode, hence the reason for this lackluster list below. All that's out this week is a budget release of an old Gundam game. January is going to be a slow month; however, expect the latter part to be packed with some heavy titles.NA Games:
- No new releases
- No new releases

The suit mentioned in the article may be real, but that image is not. That is not a new military project--it is a statue build by a wealthy otaku in the boonies of Japan. That thing has been around for at least 8 years or so. It doesn't move, but it does have a cockpit you can sit in (with little detail, unfortunately). Unless he's added to it in recent years, I don't think it had any electronics at all.

whoops, my bad then. let me fix this.

Wait, I want to see the original text. Did you actually believe that thing is a military project?! ;-)
Zippon @ Jan 5th 2009 12:46PM
Don't worry, Majed, you were just repeating bad info from the article you linked to. Happens all the time.

The industry being in vacation mode doesn't have anything to do with the lack of games following Christmas. Games are produced and released according to a year (or more) cycle leading up to the buying season, though some games do miss November/December and come out early in the following year. The standard production schedule concludes well before the 'vacation mode' so it's not like a couple of weeks off for developers around this time of year is the 'cause' for a lack of games.
Of course, the PSP got next to nothing this season anyway so it stands to reason there'd be a continuation of nothing in January...

I'm fairly certain this list being -about the PSP- is the reason for it being lackluster. Just a hunch. Yes, I know we get a few games this month. Then it's back to the same old same old. 9_9

Is 3 games really "packed'? In 2 weeks we get two RPG ports, Mana Khemia and Star Ocean 2. The week after that we get DJ Max
I admit to looking forward to them (well, not DJ Max, since I tried the demo of one and was hopelessly outmatched), but at the same time, it's a pretty small pack.
DBrim @ Jan 5th 2009 7:00AM
Yes, but next month we get Patapon 2 and LocoRoco 2. No new IP, sure, but two games that I'll definitely purchase.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jan 5th 2009 7:31AM
Yeah I'm definitely looking forward to both. I wonder, will Patapon 2 release for $20 like last time? I seriously doubt it considering the pretty abysmal sales and massive amounts of pirating.

*snarky comment about NA and EUR not getting games*

Hey Majed,
Your pimpdaddies over at Joystiq have Cid the Dummy releasing for PSP this week so, if they are correct, you should really add that game to this post...
Saltitao @ Jan 5th 2009 2:42PM
