PS3 games to look for in 2009

2008 was "The Year of the PS3?" Pfft. Excuse me, but even PS3's fantastic 2008 library won't be able to compete with the likes of 2009. In one year, you'll see the likes of Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain. And there's tons of other exclusives, PlayStation Network titles, and third party titles that are bound for the system. (And to think, there are still games that haven't been revealed yet!)

The following list includes games that are currently scheduled for a 2009 release. However, as was the case in 2008, some of these games may stumble into delays. The list is broken up in order, with PS3 exclusives coming first. (And boy, are there a lot!)

FF13 is on the list. Remember, it's not a PS3 exclusive.

It's exclusive to PS3 for 2009, only the Japanese version will be out in 2009.

I must state this. There are enough games on this list to cover 2 games EVERY month. What about the games unannounced or with no current release date such as La Noire? Holy shit there are going to be a lot of games to buy this year. I need to save up so my wallet doesn't kill itself.

I have got to say, there are many games I look forward to. I will be getting Killzone 2, Street Fighter IV, Uncharted 2, MAG, COD4:MW2, GOW3, and the list goes on.

That is a strong early line-up of games for 2009, I know I already want Street fighter 4, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Resident Evil 5, God Of War 3, FF13 if it comes out in 2009. I can't wait to see what else developers announce.

I don't know... I do think they have a tough year to beat.

2007 was great with hits like Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, R&CF, and others.
2008 was also very strong with Resistance 2, MGS4, and LBP (not to mention great multiplatform games like Burnout, GTA IV, etc.).

For 2009, though, I have yet to see much that interests me. Bionic Commando and inFamous look good, and I know I have to buy GOW III and Uncharted 2, but other than that, I don't see too much that interests me yet.

Also, though it was nice to see games like WKC and FFXIII, I... uh... it pains me to say this, but.... you and I both know... these and many other games listed may end up not coming out until at least 2010... As much as I hate to say it, I almost think I'm used to seeing so many delays...

Yeah, the only exclusive that I'm looking forward to on 360 is Mass Effect 2. Tho MS hasn't mentioned anything yet for next year's titles.

I may just have to get a PS3 for Killzone 2, Uncharted 1&2 and GoW3.

Multiplatform games I'll most likely get for 360. I like my gamerscore too much, plus my friendslist will most likely not jump ship to play the same titles on PS3.

It 'could' go to PS3. At the very least EA said it would be a timed exclusive, but they are still working out the details.

As of today it's still slated for a PC and 360 release, much like Splinter Cell 5. But then Bioshock made it's way to PS3 a year after it's initial release so who knows.

Say what you might about JRPGs, but the PS3 is not doing well in the JRPG category. Compared to the PS2, there is a serious shortage of JRPGs on the PS3! Many JRPGs have jumped onto the 360 and even the Wii:

The problem with mass effect coming to PS3 (I'm not saying it can't, I'm just saying the problem is) that Microsoft owns the publishing rights to the series. When EA bought out mass effects developers, they bought that contract and are obligated to enforce it.

Of course, Microsoft could allow for a joint release (and even may), but EA has to find a way to get around that if they want the game on PS3.

(Not a fanboy. Owns all three systems.)

You! my fine friend, are highly delusional if you think Star Ocean 4 is a "mediocre" RPG. Not to mention Ninja Blade looks good too. The 360 even though being a POS hardware does have serveral good games to envy.

On topic....what about Last Remnant for the PS3, surely that is coming out this year?

I really thought, after being in the kz2 beta that i wouldn't want it as much since i know how it plays (for the most part).

well that was a refreashing post, iv been all doom and gloom bout my ps3 lately, although iv forgiven 2kgames for the 5gb dump on my hard drive as iv got right into bioshock and now well eager for the 2nd one, lots of good games & some nice exclusives coming that id forgot about shame about the waiting but at least there comeing, deffo up for kz2, gow3, uncharted 2, ffxlll, gt5, fat princess! & sfIv. Also dark void, prototype & ghostbusters look like there worth a butchers at too

Not that uncommon over here, mate. But it's hard to say with English slang, Every 50 square miles of England has it's own totally different regional accents and slang. I'm from the west country where we all sound like poor farmers, even though I'm a physics student ^^
