Website reveals THQ's unannounced, cancelled Stormbirds

For all those PS3 owners who love flight sims, we've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is that it was recently revealed that THQ was developing, via Juice Games, a multi-platform game called Stormbirds. The bad news is that it was being developed and has since been shot down out of the big blue sky.

Stormbirds was one of those titles which got shuffled out during THQ's business realignment, and is unfortunately a title which won't be seen on PS3 anymore. Though gamers won't be able to see the title appear on their consoles, they can still check it out in video form. RealtimeUK has up on its site some of the CG work it has done for the game. You can also gander at some CG stills below, courtesy of our sister site Big Download. We guess it's back to Blazing Angels for you, folks.

The original Blazing Angels was blast, and the 2nd?

It sucked.

I am waiting for titles like "Hawx", "IL-2", and "Heroes" for my flight gaming.

Another flight game cancellation is disappointing though.

Oh, and not every flight game is can be classified as a "Sim", lol...

This is disappointing to see another flight game get cancelled.

At least Hawx, IL-2, and Heroes are coming still.

As far as going "back" to Blazing Angels, no thanks. I traded the first one in along time ago. The second one was garbage.

I've been craving some historically accurate dogfighting on my PS3... is Blazing Angels worth $20-30? Reviews seem lukewarm, for the most part.

I checked out the Blazing Angels II demo, and it was decent, but I just couldn't get into the fantasy fighters. That said, the Stormbirds CG looks nice.

Anyways..

Blazing Angels 1 is much grounded in reality per se. All the experimental weapons and aircraft are not there. Graphics on the first are better as well.

If you see it cheap, jump on it. It's a good game.

Wow, another cancel what else is new? I might as well go back to 360 if this keeps up. I can't see why I want to keep playing my PS3...

Oh that's right, My xbox keeps dying and I don't care about flight sims or krypto or strategy games. I see, nevermind I still love my PS3

No kidding.

I bought AC06 on the 360, and was insulted by the low quantity of aircraft....and the fact they were charging for "paint jobs with new stats".

I would hope that NBG would not try to hose the Playstation fans with that considering how many paint jobs and planes were available on the PS2 versions.

i would love a good ww2 era flight game

i really want EA to either go back to or remake the first battlefield, one of my all time favorite games. It just had everything, console version would be intense!!

the flying on it was superb, one of the best flying games i've been on (i know it isn't a flying game but the flying in it was amazing)

may install it now actually :D

Jake I couldn't agree with you more Battlefield 1942 best game of all time for me anyway.
BF2 was excellent but I wish they would go back to ww2 now with the battlefield series , those Pacific battles at sea where amazing , and the amazing community mods like Forgotten Hope , Battlegroup42, Desert Combat etc , I spent years on this game .
Bad Company isn't bad but flying those spitfires ,109's, P-51's , Heinkels, Junkers, Mitchells, B-17s etc was immense .
I truly pity anyone who missed out on 1942 , still loads online too. ! never to late.
