Microsoft doesn't intend on using Home

But on the other hand, if you were Microsoft would you admit to using a competitor's product to conduct your business? Not only does it disparage your own products, but think of the intelligence gathering potential for Sony. We already know their moderators are invisible within Home. There could be one sitting in the corner of the meeting room, listening to every word.
As far as we know the other companies mentioned in the initial report are still planning on hosting these virtual meetings. Hope we haven't put them off ...

Too late...fanboy damage has been done.
vahdyx @ Jan 6th 2009 2:28PM
Well, duh! I never believed it to begin with
ryan @ Jan 6th 2009 2:15PM
Can't corporations already use video/camera chat features to conduct meetings?
I'm more interested in a virtual e3...but I get the gist from watching live feeds and trailers most of the time. Talking with the real life devs face to face or in Home would be neat, but wouldn't there be a virtual line to wait in?
I'm sure I'm missing something, how would this be done?
rohan @ Jan 6th 2009 2:56PM
if they do have a virtual E3 that would push HOME over the edge, people buying a PS3 for 400$ instead of buying a plane ticket to LA. It is possible to do, only thing were will not be a demos for ppl to play only vids, trailers and talking to dev and the stars.

would be great if they held a virtual CES '09 in HOME.. we need more official events to be held in home.
DeathroW @ Jan 6th 2009 2:40PM
I don't get why it would be such a crime for microsoft be seen to be using or working with sony.
Microsoft and sony have worked directly together before, more recently on sonys media center, that circular one.
(Microsoft developed the software for it.
Oh and guess what? Sony will be using microsot powerpoint in their next business meeting!
will @ Jan 6th 2009 3:29PM
who knows, they could be using Apple Keynote.
Lorcan @ Jan 6th 2009 3:58PM
Or LBP.
That was the best Presentation ever!
j.howlett @ Jan 6th 2009 11:41PM
LBP makes sales charts awesome. is that playable?
magicfett @ Jan 6th 2009 2:42PM
Checking out the competition is never a bad thing. I don't believe they would hold meetings corporate spying and all that but to say they will not use it at all is like saying nobody at Sony's game division has a live account.
Roenik @ Jan 6th 2009 2:49PM
MS is already online with virtual islands in Second Life.
will @ Jan 6th 2009 3:30PM
that's one thing Microsoft and I have in common. I still don't see what the point is of home.
dicknjane @ Jan 6th 2009 4:06PM
there is no point. it's one of the most boring apps i've ever played. seriously, only 2 game spaces online? a little tiny world where people dont talk and just stand in the doorways of places? seriously. not the "revolution" it was supposed to be, after 2 years of extraordinary hype. maybe it'll get better. only if the devs wanna put time into it.

I agree. I think Sony released the both Home and the idea of Home too early. I think most people will not understand the potential because it's so bare. I think Home will be aweome come PS4 but I don't see huge 3rd party support this generation.
maxpontiac @ Jan 6th 2009 4:33PM
I am not willing to call it failure, and say it is a pointless app.
It just went public per se, and let's see what 2009 has in store for Home with dev support.
WhiteShield @ Jan 6th 2009 5:26PM
not to bash home or anything, but i dont intend to use home either. i mean, it took me a while to get the thing started up, then the ridiculous load times to create a generic looking guy, then my room looks like something out of an ikea catalog. then when i try to leave i have to download ANOTHER room, and by then i just said screw it... but hey if other people like it go right ahead, its just my sorta thing i guess
LiqwidZero @ Jan 7th 2009 11:56AM
Not only that, but the last time I was in there, this idiot was running around saying "FAGGOT! FAGGOT! FAGGOT!" to everyone.
That said, the maturity of the inhabitants of Home is very low, and companies won't be hosting live events for long. But this is just my opinion.
dandan @ Jan 6th 2009 6:26PM
So. What you. Fanboy, say is you publish on your blog false post. hum?... "Did you really think that Microsoft would seriously use Home to conduct virtual business meetings?" I'dont know. You tell me fanboy, you were the one that publish that post on your blog.
kentuckyfried @ Jan 6th 2009 8:10PM
It's all Andrew's fault!
haha...j/p Andrew, j/p

This site reports news. Another company said that MS would be using Home to conduct meetings. This site reported on that comment. So this site didn't lie to you, and even if it did, Microsoft using Home doesn't impact you or any of us in any way, so who cares?
dandan @ Jan 8th 2009 5:43AM
So what you are saying is you don't know nothing about journalism mmm yea who cares about your poor education.
nakedatthecomp @ Jan 7th 2009 11:55AM
that room in the picture, where is that? o_O
Ty @ Jan 7th 2009 12:53AM
I wish I was invisible. The first thing that came to mind was sitting in on meetings. Then lesbian parties. Then saving the world and living a destitute, solidary life. I choose the last one.
