Coming 2017: Bioshock 6?
Cristoph Hartmann, President of 2K Games, has said in an interview with MCV that Bioshock could potentially be spun into a six-game series. Hartmann promises that they won't "cash in" on the game, but that the title's story and universe has potential to be expanded on almost indefinitely. "For Bioshock, because it's so story driven, the question obviously arises: how long can you do it without turning into The Matrix?"
Hartmann goes on to say that "if we spin it the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did. It's a fight between good and evil, just like Bioshock." So who knows, maybe Bioshock will continue to evolve and become a long running video game series. It's a strong brand with an excellent story and premise, but we're holding out to see how Bioshock 2 goes later this year before asking for four more.

I am still trying to finish Bioshock on the PS3.
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Jan 7th 2009 1:59PM
Yeah, same here, but I find it kind of boring (on Chapter 2 - Medical Pavilion.). Here's hoping that it will get better, even though I barely started the game :P
Kodros @ Jan 7th 2009 2:05PM
I've started from scratch 3 times on the PC and I just end up not playing the rest of the game. Maybe one day...
Eric E @ Jan 7th 2009 2:28PM
I love it, 2nd favorite game of this gen (after uncharted).
Now i want to beat it on crushing w/ no vita chambers (and get the right ending trophy b/c my 360 friend told me to do the wrong thing on purpose)
i think thats spoiler free, I had to try real hard while waiting for ps3's version to know nothing but everyone should have played by now.
JerJerBinks @ Jan 7th 2009 2:52PM
Would you kindly finish this game?
Sorry, I had to do it.
john paul @ Jan 7th 2009 5:14PM
It is pretty overrated. I thought other games like mass effect (my goty) had a far better story and gameplay.
imbecile pete @ Jan 7th 2009 2:05PM
as long as they keep it as good as the first and dont screw up ill keep buyin
theruggedman @ Jan 7th 2009 2:07PM
the matrix was good, whats wrong with you people?
Towhee @ Jan 7th 2009 2:16PM
"the matrix was good, whats wrong with you people?"
The Matrix was awesome... but dude, I really hate to be the one to tell you this... but, uh, they eventually made a couple of sequels to The Matrix. I won't go in depth, but I'll just say I envy you, that you've lived your life without knowing of Matrix Reloaded or Matrix Revolutions.
War Machine @ Jan 7th 2009 3:35PM
The Matrix Trilogy was written long before the movies where started. Reloaded and Revolutions were intended to be made since day one.

Not sure how well this would work, need to see how Bioshock 2 fares first...Bioshock seems so standalone, I'm not sure what to even expect from the sequel.
PSN: John-Paul-Jones @ Jan 7th 2009 2:14PM
I was thinking about a prequel - the downfall of Rapture if that hasn't been explored yet in BioShock 1
1664 @ Jan 7th 2009 2:39PM
there gonna make 6 bioshock games, yet not cash in on it lol yea ok , im not complaining just thats a funny statement, well maybe complaining a little , do we really need 6 parts to it, i grew up with the original starwars but imo the new 3 were utter crap as 95% of sequals are, again thats MY opinion. iv got right into bioshock deffo one of my fav games that iv played on the ps3 i think visually its stunning the colors and atmosphere and sfx, luv the big daddys but i think the novelty would have well worn off by part 3, but who knows maybe it wont,
and @ john paul if your not likeing the game already i cant see it getting much better for you as it is pretty much the same the whole way through just with different scenery & weapons, but iv almost finished it and still useing the electric and flamer stuff that you get at the start
1664 @ Jan 7th 2009 2:20PM

HardBoiled2009 @ Jan 7th 2009 2:25PM
funny i just finished bioshock on Survival with Vita Chambers off ..... i just got robbed of a trophy if it unlocked i would have the Platinum for it as we speak .. UGH .. i hate these things.. anyways Bioshck is a great game
Eric E @ Jan 7th 2009 2:30PM
did you have vita chambers off the whole game? ( i guess pause first chance you get and do it)
I think this was a stupid goal. turning them off just requires ocd saving to add nuisance.
I plan on attempting this on the next game drought/rainy day. any advice?
Eric E @ Jan 7th 2009 2:32PM
Does this mean BioShock 6 will be on the PS4?
Aaron F @ Jan 7th 2009 2:38PM
Got it for $5 on Steam over the holiday. Haven't started it yet, but I hope to once I finish the pile of PS3 games I have waiting for me.
Ghoti @ Jan 7th 2009 2:49PM
If a Jar Jar Binks type character shows up in the 4th one they release, I'm laying waste to 2K Games... :-)
reson8er @ Jan 7th 2009 2:50PM
lol
Tremada @ Jan 7th 2009 2:58PM
Well, Bioshock is probably my favorite game this gen, and I only own a PS3(and aWii, but Wii's suck) As many others have said, if it is good, I will buy it. Currently on my 3rd playthrough of Bioshock.
Rocko @ Jan 7th 2009 3:15PM
I hope they release a Bioshock for PS9 come 2078
Elliott @ Jan 7th 2009 4:11PM
I love BioShock. It is my one and only platinum trophy. Can't wait to play BS2.
According to IMDB they're making a BioShock movie too! Talk about not cashing in. The way I see it eventually there has to be a good video game movie. Maybe this is the one!
BeachBum @ Jan 7th 2009 4:37PM
Halo here we come.
ZEN @ Jan 7th 2009 6:04PM
Personally, I found it to be overrated, too. I thought it was a great game once you got into it... that is, once you got more weapons and new powers, and the story was great, as was the atmosphere. But I don't see how it got GotY awards and the scores it did.
And, I really don't see how they're going to turn this into that much of a long running series... we know how Rapture came to be and everyone that would even want it is possibly gone. Not to mention, there really is no fight between "good and evil" like Star Wars, Mr. Hartmann.
Orion @ Jan 7th 2009 7:54PM
Yea.. I thought that quote sounded odd to me too. While I didn't finish the game, it hardly seemed like a "Star Wars" (IE: Good vs Evil that anyone can watch.. like SW or LoTR). When I played it, it seemed like a horror film.. but with a plot lol. Sure there's a "good" guy like in any horror film, but I'd hardly compare it to something like Star Wars.
Well put together, but honestly, I can't see games that are better made than this living through 6 incarnations. none-the-less this game.
Orion @ Jan 7th 2009 7:50PM
While I can really appreciate the top notch graphics, flawless voice acting, perfect mood setting, and engaging sound, I just couldn't get myself to be interested in this game past the first couple levels. It's one of those games that grabs you from the start.. compels you to play it because it seems so special, then kinda fades into repetitiveness. I personally think it's overrated, but I can understand why everyone likes it though.. it is very polished.
IHateBioshock @ Jan 8th 2009 5:18AM
no! Fix the lack of fun and lack of gameplay before banging on about how cool your story is. This is the problem with the original. It's core values are all wrong and completely swept under the carpet due to the 'cool theme' and 'above average' concept. I'm another one who couldn't bear to finish the last level of this bore-a-thon.
