Home gets its first real piece of content today as the Red Bull Air Race space is now open to all
Home users. You can access the area from your world map within your menu pad. Once there you'll see lots of other people standing around a fence, which is where you can begin playing the plane-flying mini-game. There's no leaderboard support yet, but that doesn't stop you shouting about your best time to everyone in the area.
Americans also get their hands on Diesel clothing and Ligne Roset furniture in the Mall from today. Still no sign of any game spaces being released in Europe, but the Red Bull Air Race should give you something to do once you get bored of wandering round the
Home Square for the billionth time.

In case anyone's interested in seeing the space but hasn't been able to due to work or other reasons...no sound or gameplay because the gameplay video is still "compressing" on GT. I'll reply to this post again when it's done.
Mo @ Jan 8th 2009 4:02PM
hah thanks!!

There's the new one. Haha, talk about bad timing--RIGHT after I posted the first.
Meghterb @ Jan 8th 2009 12:59PM
I tried to sign in Home but everytime I do it I get something like downloading errors .. I`ll check it later and thanx for the news .. Looks promising
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jan 8th 2009 12:51PM
lets get LBP working lag free before we try anything ambitious with it please. also the air race is alright a lil disapointing though.
Kodros @ Jan 8th 2009 1:12PM
You act as if there's 5 programmers that code everything that Sony makes. Yeah, they should stop messing with home and fix the lag in LBP. Then after lunch, they should go finish God of War 3. Maybe next week they can start on Gran Turismo 5.
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jan 8th 2009 1:44PM
well seeing as it would have to be both sets of developers working on it, i believe my point is valid. u probably do 2 now that u think about it. a little thinking before you type goes a long way friend.
sorry to burst your bubble. i dont know how clever u felt when u typed that little remark.
Game_playa @ Jan 8th 2009 2:52PM
I just looked through your posts. A genuine troll to me.
Kodros @ Jan 8th 2009 4:17PM
"well seeing as it would have to be both sets of developers working on it, i believe my point is valid"
lol, no, your point isn't valid. You don't know how software engineering works. You can't just throw 2x the people at a problem and expect a solution 2x quicker.
If it was that easy, don't you think Media Molecule would just hire more network developers?
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jan 8th 2009 5:22PM
I think you will find my point is valid. and if you think that media molecule who have bin provided with a home package to use with their game do not have to liase with homes developers as to how best to implement their content in home. im not stupid my orignal comment was for the developers of media molecule to work on the lag issue in LBP, which then got twisted like i was talking about the whole sony divsion of developers to fix it. now i face persecution because of it.
I dont know what game playa is talking about, but if he is refering to me then maybe he right. im not a nice person and i like to air my gripes on here. not everything i say is negative howeva and maybe he shouldnt get involved in wat i think is an unwarrented attack on my opinion of a situation.
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jan 8th 2009 5:48PM
You have really got the wrong end of the stick m8. are u actually reading wat i am typing? have i asked the whole sony programming division to fix this issue?
my original comment was that the developers of LBP media molecule should fix the lag before attempting to integrate new services into their game. media molecule as first party developers of sony have recieved software packs that enable them to take advantage of certain features in home such as the game launching and the games spaces.
Now will you be so dumb as to not admit that media molecule and the london studios the developers of home will not have to liase and work together to put content into home? or is it a free-for-all where any old person can stick stuff up at will like the internet and this site.
as for u game playa. i onli vent my gripes when its appropriate. i dont go outta my way to be mean to people. i was in a relativly good mood when i posted my original comment. I viewed kodros' comment as an unwarranted attack on what i said while to understanding what i meant and therfore i responded with an equally acid tongue. please tell if you think anything ive said in any of my posts is out of order then we can have a dicussion about it
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jan 8th 2009 5:51PM
sorry comment wasnt there the first time
Kodros @ Jan 8th 2009 7:32PM
"lets get LBP working lag free before we try anything ambitious with it please"
When you say this in a thread that has nothing to do with LBP, you imply that you want the Home team to work with LBP to fix LBP's lag issue.
Bleh, I just noticed that the previous comment by Mo mentioned LBP...I'm guessing that your comment was a response to him.
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jan 9th 2009 4:39AM
either way it still boils down to u being too quick. at the time my comment was 4th on the list right after mo's original comment, but it looks like you skipped the first 3 comments and started at mine for some reason.
of course i am not blameless in this situation. in hindsight i should have posted my comment as a direct reply to mo's. i neva dreamed that my comment would be misconstrued in such a way. it's a shame two of my comments have bin faded out because of it.
and after reading your back-catalog of comments i also now realise game_playa was talking about you. 75percent of your comments are a retort to someone who was foolish, naive or outspoken. i quite like it to be honest they're the comments i enjoy reading the most on blogs, i just didnt fancy having it used against me.

NOBODY cares what you do, kiddo.
Roto13 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:03PM
Someone obviously cares, or I wouldn't have gotten voted down.
C-Onor @ Jan 8th 2009 5:03PM
forget it, ashitaka makes a habit of speaking what he/she thinks is what everyone thinks, and says that nobody cares what people think/do

I'm sad that there isnt planes flying around other than yours....also when you crash why cant it show the crash to everyone......not kill them or anything but an explosion would be nice...

Good thing we don't have to wait in line to fly these planes, like waiting for an arcade machine, bowling, and shooting pool in Home.
Dave @ Jan 8th 2009 3:11PM
I can't fucking believe that you have to wait in line. WTF! I'll try and get on again at 3am, and see if there are less people.
jefferywross @ Jan 8th 2009 3:36PM
Once it loads it is nice to have something to do that you do not have to wait in line for. All games/things to do should be like this.
I wonder if there is a shirt to get if you hit a certain time? I made it through with all gates green! Pretty easy. But it was fun. For something that is free and just there...
Topher08 @ Jan 8th 2009 3:47PM
I bet when I want to play in a race, it says the plane is occupied and I have to wait in line for my turn. They seriously have to get rid of only allowing one person to play an arcade game at a time. I don't fire up Home to play a game only to have to wait to play the game (although the arcade games suck in PSN so far).
J.Gram @ Jan 8th 2009 4:51PM
You actually don't have to wait in line to fly the planes. :)
But you will have to face the planes just right, before you get the "Fly plane" message - but the system often detects the others standing besides, behind and before you. Really hope they fix that soon. :S
But as I said, there's no waiting in line. ;)
chazter @ Jan 8th 2009 11:07PM
it took me 4ever 2 get in but it was pretty cool b4 i crashed and had 2 wait again :(
Ilya @ Jan 9th 2009 12:31AM
I agree, i thought the thing was un-playable until i finally got that Red Bull Air Race message and played..
Eh, it's ok..i thought i'd get a costume or a miniature airplane to put in my home.
They should put a little booth that ignores every around you so you can actually start the game
Popfrogs @ Jan 9th 2009 12:32AM
I stood around with 40 other people and nobody could figure out how to get the flying started. It'd make more sense if the fence was open, you walked up to a plane and got in. Then when you vanished the next guy could jump in, etc.
I don't understand how something so simple like this gets botched up. It's like everyone missed a planning meeting.

I'm one of the people who cannot play because the game is forever occupied. No matter if there are 20 people or 2, the only message I ever see is "Game is occupied". A definition glitch that's only affecting some for whatever reason. I wish someone knew of a fix for this. Could it be because I downloaded the game in the background? I don't know.
