Use DualShock 3 with rumble on PC thanks to new hack
People have been using Sixaxis controllers on PCs for a long time now. But, what about DualShock 3s with rumble support? Apparently, it's now possible. A Japanese coder has released four drivers which allow Windows users to play games on PC with a DS3, tweak some of the controller parameters and subsequently employ rumble. It sounds like a fun experiment to play around with, though, from the looks of it, the driver menus are mostly in Japanese. Check DCEmu UK for instructions in English.

Sounds cool. Maybe I'll try it out when I get my PC fixed.
I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Jan 12th 2009 7:22AM
I don't play pirated games so i can't see me ever having a need for this ;p
Moris @ Jan 12th 2009 7:46AM
... and why are you saying this? There are plenty of other games you can purchase (such as dead space, and most valve games) that would allow you to use this...
Sangor @ Jan 12th 2009 7:54AM
What has this got to do with pirated games?
I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Jan 12th 2009 7:55AM
wow, the other day i said FF was shit, and no-one said anything.
Today i suggest (tongue in cheek) that most games people play on PC are pirated and boom! haha
please note: ;p = Said Jokingly, with jest!
I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Jan 12th 2009 8:34AM
Joke!

I wonder if this supports XP Pro x64, if not then I'm left in the cold yet again.

Interesting, some games allow the xbox 360 controller to be used. It will be nice if they included the ps3 one as well so we don't have to use this hack
reakt @ Jan 12th 2009 7:56AM
This is most likely a rip-off of the work done by the forum members at ps2dev.org (who also do ps3 development). See here:

And the program is in English!
Gumbyx84 @ Jan 12th 2009 11:01AM
Nice! The one from ps2dev.org support Bluetooth connection! Thanks for the link.
One question though, were is the actual download link to the software?
Well, found it on a random site with a google search (http://bqron.free.fr/PS3/BT/) but would rather have a direct download from the devs.

Yeah, but you have to install libusb and always have it running rather than just using a driver that immediately recognizes the PS3 controller.
I wouldn't have had a problem with that extra program running to get my PS3 controller working with Vista, but it literally shut down every other USB device connected to my computer for some reason. I had to plug in an old PS2 mouse and keyboard to uninstall it and get everything working again.
This is a single all-in-one driver that you install. It's nice and simple.

I'll stick to my playstation thanks!

*facepalm*

Now if only they would set it up so I can use the controller wireless through the Bluetooth on my computer.
Eric E @ Jan 12th 2009 10:11AM
try linux.
Kyle @ Jan 12th 2009 3:31PM
Yeah, eric E, because installing a new OS and learning it is worth having a bluetooth-connected controller even though you have no games to play on the damn thing.
Don't get me wrong, I love Linux and dual-boot with it on my main box, but that's a stupid suggestion.
Devin @ Jan 12th 2009 4:05PM
Kyle, have you ever heard of emulators?
Kyle @ Jan 12th 2009 5:21PM
Devin, have you understood my point that it's stupid as hell to even SUGGEST installing a new OS to solve the problem of missing bluetooth, especially when there are obvious references to it in the driver software. So it seems the guy either installs with Wubi, repartitions and installs Linux, or just waits for a bit for bluetooth to be included in the Windows driver.
I'm an Ubuntu user myself, I just get pissed at how many Linux users are completely and utterly stuck on themselves. Instead of writing something helpful, all the guy gets is a sarcastic and blunt "try linux". This is why people think that we're all douchebags.

I have Ubuntu on my laptop, and I play CoD4 through Wine. It's really good. I just need to figure out how to use the PS3 controller on there because the keyboard on the laptop is too small.
NineT9mustang @ Jan 12th 2009 8:18AM
He could have used the english font instead of Wingdings jeez
Alphathon @ Jan 12th 2009 9:37AM
You get rumble on the bluetooth version as well, but only for XInput ont DirectInput (basically when a game is supposed to use a 360 controller you can use this instead and get rumble). The only reason it doesn't have rumble in DirectInput is that it uses PPJoy to create a virtual controller, which doesn't support force feedback (using a wiimote on windows suffers from the same problem)
