Mirror's Edge DLC rolls onto PSN on 1/29
Have Mirror's Edge? Well, make sure you log onto the PlayStation Network on January 29th. PS3 owners will be able to download two pieces of DLC, one free and one for-pay. PS3 owners will be able to download a PS3-exclusive level for free. However, if they want seven all-new Time Trial maps, they'll have to pony up $10. Those that are having trouble with the Time Trial Trophies may want to pick this pack up -- more maps will make it easier to pick up that elusive 50-star rating.

I picked this game up for Christmas, but it hasn't even been unwrapped yet due to my being totally enamoured with LBP!
I'm looking forward to playing it, though.

Despite what some reviews say about it being a disappointment, it's a fun game that was worth the money to me.
I'm not sure, however, that 7 levels is worth $10 to me. That seems kind of steep.

what exactly is it that keeps you busy with LBP? I got the game on the release date, beat it a week later and haven't touched it since... are you making levels or playing user-created ones...? i was surprised at how short the single-player mode was and am looking for something else to do with it!

I beat it about a week later also.
Then I started playing online - trying to complete all of the x2, x3, and x4 challenges with others. I guess I'm just enjoying trying to get 100% on all levels which is turning out to be pretty difficult. I also didn't find out about the "hidden" trigger stickers until I started online (which is why I was having a hard time completing to 100%). I haven't spent much time on user-created levels mostly because they are crap in comparison to the built-in ones -- I admit I haven't spent much time on user created stuff to find any cool ones, though.
...and I think the sack people are pretty funny. It's a nice break from all of the shoot everything in sight, run and gun games out there.

@flarkle
its 9 levels, not 7

"However, if they want seven all-new Time Trial maps..."
I dunno, just going by what it says in the article. However, even if it's 9, I don't know that I wanna pay 10 bucks for it.
Hell, who am I kidding? I'll probably buy it.

If you want great user generated levels, check out the InfoMoon in LBP, or the Media Molecule Blog. There's some awesome user designed levels in there. LBP is the ultimate casual game. If you want to play something for 10 or 15 minutes, you can jump on and check out the user stuff, and the hearted levels and users of anyone.
As for Mirror's Edge, if you love replaying levels and trying to perfect your times and runs, the game has a huge amount of replayability. With the three star system, the time trials are very challenging, and I'm really enjoying trying to get three stars in a run.
Having said that, I'm not sure that $10 would convince me to get a new set of time trials. If it were half that price, I'd do it.

These extra stages really look like a lot of fun. I'll definitely get 'em if I can.
rubAdub72 @ Jan 13th 2009 12:10PM
EA sure rips you off with these DLC, but at least it isn't xbox-exclusive
Levi @ Jan 13th 2009 2:41PM
I'm sure I took a lot of hours to craft 8 levels worth of time trial content. That stuff has to be carefully planned and heavily playtested to fit in ways to shave time off. All those hours cost money, Which they have to gain back somehow. I don't see how $10 is a ripoff for something that could potentially bring hours of entertainment. Is seeing a movie in a theater a ripoff?

so they still didn't patch Pain... oh no, wait... nevermind
devilmaker @ Jan 13th 2009 12:26PM
Any news on this for Europe? We've been getting shafted pretty badly for patches recently.
JoeThePlumer @ Jan 13th 2009 1:33PM
Wow, now it is super easy to get the 50 stars on this game. I thought I was special with my 51 because I know its hard to get but now everyone is going to have it. Kind of a bummer :(
derek @ Jan 13th 2009 1:49PM
sweet, is this date for europe too?
bleeds @ Jan 13th 2009 3:53PM
yeah pretty much what joetheplummer said, shame they dont add more trophies like in the recently dlc on little big planet.but for people that cant get a 50 star rating i dont think that these time trials should help them get those trophies.
Windmill @ Jan 13th 2009 4:06PM
Wow. Those levels look AWESOME! Its far too steep of a price for me to buy it (I could get a whole new game for that price!) but I wish I had it.
Now THAT is how Mirrors Edge should've been! But I still enjoyed it nevertheless.
Chris @ Jan 13th 2009 7:26PM
No-one else thinks the graphics look a little bit too retro? I got the game so I could run around beautiful skyscrapers, not snake-style virtual missions, so won't be buying that most likely.
Monkey Majiks @ Jan 14th 2009 11:55AM
shame no additional trophies, although help towards the 50 star is always welcome!
